Just, like, get a second keyboard for Russian. I am not even joking here, buying a cheap one online is better than suffering. Except if the problem is on the software side.
Would WW2 have ended sooner or later had the Allies adopted a Bombing doctrine similar to the Schnellbomber meme of the G*rms, with a strong focus on precision bombing so as not to hit residential areas and inadvertently generate free volunteers for the enemy?
Putler seems to be doing well with that given the morale displayed by Ukraine's yet-to-be-recruited civilian population.
Replies: >>3358
>>3353
Bombing important railway stations was definitely more effective than bombing factories, let alone slaughtering non-combatants by the tens of thousands, so it could have helped somehow. But the moral side is really not that comparable, because back then there was no internet, and even in Germany motorized vehicles were not that common for civilians, so figuring out that your side is not winning and you should hop into a car and leave for greener pastures was not really an option. Not to mention that even if it was, they didn't really have any good destinations, as I don't think Switzerland could have taken random German citizens in large numbers. Meanwhile Ukrainians have plenty of options and opportunities if they don't want to die in a trench for the sake of vibrant diversity.

Not sure about soap but gasoline does dissolve wax and paraffin without drama. The only prank here, if any, is instructing you to mix first then fill bottle. Simpler to put dry shavings in first and let them dissolve in the bottle.

Post and discuss lever action rifles, shotguns, and mares leg pistols be they traditional designs for cowboy larping fun or more modern 'tacticool' configurations for applications such as hunting or not being completely defenseless in B& states 'legally' (even thought it's the local state governments that are actually breaking the law however...)
Why? Because lever gats are cool.
7 replies and 6 files omitted. View the full thread
How prevalent was the idea of using a lever rifle and a revolver chambered for the same calibre back in the day? I imagine the average frontiersman would use the rifle 99% of the time, as a pistol would be useful mostly in self-defence situations within a building or on a train. And if you will barely use the revolver then a box of ammo should last you for quite a while, therefore buying an available one that fires a different ammo would be better than going out of your way to find one in the same calibre. Although if you replace an old revolver with a new one because you feel like it, then you might as well buy it to be a companion gun. Or were there combo deals for lever-actions and revolvers back then?
Replies: >>2091 >>2437
>>2079
I feel like damn near everything a "frontiersman" of the day did was based upon
>What can I afford?
>What is available from the nearest general store?
Replies: >>2104
>>2091
Indeed, that is why I am asking if this whole companion gun idea was just marketing back then, or something more legitimate.
Replies: >>2106
>>2104
If shop owners can make a better profit from selling companion guns wouldn't it make sense that it's less of a hassle to get one of the same calliber because the guy selling the guns would much rather you buy two from him over one from him and another from a competitor?
>>2079
I've seen it referenced in early 1900s publications. I think the bigger concern isn't stocking two ammunition, it's being able to find replacement ammo in the future to avoid having a useless gun, so picking something that's absurdly common for both minimizes the issue. Even in the interwar, American hunting publications were suggesting 44-40 as round for foreign hunting trips on the explicit rationale you'd actually be able to find ammo virtually anywhere in the world. Imagine trying to find something like .44 Colt in a country that barely has civilian handguns.

Well if we're going to be here for a few days I figure that a milsurp thread might be fun.

Pic related is an 1888 manufactured Mauser 71/84, Germany's 1st magazine fed rifle. Fires an 11mm Mauser Black powder cartridge. Additional pics show the pretty neato operation of the action and loading ramp. It has a magazine cutoff standard to this era of rifles that prevents rounds from the magazine being chambered turning it into a single shot rifle so as to prevent that retard Hans from wasting all his ammo in one go.

I've had this for a few months now but haven't shot it yet since nobody makes ammo for it, brass costs at a minimum $3 per, I can't find any large rifle primers and I don't have a bullet mold yet
Just got the bayonet for it about a couple weeks ago off ebay, it appears to have been a private purchase but I don't actually know much about military bayonets of the era, I just wanted to pokey thing on the end. The scabbard has worn away but there's enough to rebuild one with enough willpower I think.

Show me your cool stuff anons, I miss 8/k/ dearly and having yet another move, even if temporary brought about by federal dickery bums me out.

Its 1898, youve been handed this and told to go sit in a mud ditch somewhere in missouri, youll get your water from the local stream that the cooks just dumped some animal remains into. Chemical cleaning doesnt exist and the only way to really clean something with an opening that small is to dunk it in boiling water. Half the camp doesnt believe bacteria is real so youre told to stop wasting matches, firewood, and water dunking canteens like an idiot.
