DOMINOS, RISE OF THE PIZZAMAN MAN
It's so nice, they had it twice edition

Well what is this "Dominons" is it safe for my kids?
Fuck no, that little autistic faggot is going to be screaming about the overpowered jews from his bedroom at 3am.

Dominions is a fantasy turn-based strategy game created by two dudes. One of them is a teacher.
The game combines a simple presentation with an extremely wide array of strategic options, including over 3400 units, 1100 spells and 400 magic items. Turns are resolved simultaneously,
It has simplistic graphics but is easily moddable and extremely deep.
Dominions is set in a fantasy world that draws inspiration from historical nations, cultures and myths. You will not encounter the elves of conventional fantasy in this game. Instead you might lead a nation of vanir from old norse myth. Aztecs, romans, israelites OY VEY!! , greeks, kievian rus and lovecraftian horrors are just a few of the inspirational sources of the game.

Basically, it's an autist’s wet dream of a strategy game.

Both of these reviews have been delicious.
I still haven't gotten around to playing 2 yet, I probably will one of these days, but watching someone go through KotOR one was nostalgic, what with how many feelings we've shared unintentionally.
It's interesting seeing someone actually get into the stats, since back when I played it I just brute forced my way through everything. Apparently I used to get bored easily.
I think one of the freshest memories of the game was listening to Cando talking about dropping onto a planet like a member of the Mobile Infantry, only riding the suit instead of being in it. That was rad.

It takes 10 jump kicks, it's a really difficult hitbox, unless you shoot a web at the chain holding MJ she'll drop before you can finish off Kingpin, so keep shooting the web diagonally to stop the chain from going down, walk up to Kingpin and jump, as soon as you jump press the button to kick, you really have to get a feel for it, but once you do it's not too tough to repeat it 10 times and win.

When I played it I thought of Dead Space as the game Resident Evil 4 should have been. Like Capcom they realized tank controls and slowly shambling zombies didn't cut it for survival horror anymore, but where Capcom turned the franchise into an action movie Dead Space doubled down on atmosphere and limited resources (including time and space, hence all the fights with fast mutants in tight quarters) to create tension. Walking into a fight and realizing you have to make all your weakpoint shots because otherwise you'll run out of ammo before you can kill everything is a real "oh shit" moment.

Any recommendations for standalone desktop microphones? I've been using the JLAB Talk for about 5 years, and it's been great but the cheap build quality is finally catching up with me so I think I'll need to get a new one in the foreseeable future.

- The legs on the Talk are flimsy and can easily pull off, and the hinges don't have any friction so you can't adjust the height.
- The face button and volume/gain dial are functional, but the dial has never been reliable: you can turn it 3 clicks and only have the volume/gain adjust by 2, for instance.
- The mic cable gave out after a couple years and needed to be replaced.
- The mute button on the Talk produces a loud CLUNK whenever you (un)mute it, which kind of defeats the point of doing so.
- The arms holding the mic to the stand are very flimsy, and the whole thing feels like it's made of balsa wood.
- While the core mic in the Talk has worked up until just recently, I think it is now beginning to deteriorate.

My local stores currently have good deals on the Blue Yeti (bit of a meme, but a well-built meme) and the HyperX QuadCast 2. The latter seems like a good long-term solution for different kinds of audio recording but it's $20-30 more expensive than the Yeti in canuck bucks.

Shit. I think people just read vogons and buy up anything that gets mentioned as a deal. There is no goddamn reason why C2D should have value when the "magic" of PC hardware was long gone by then. At least the bubble means what's left actually gets preserved, and you can buy repro versions of seemingly every weird expansion card you could want for gaming.

I mean from personal experience if you want a X48 board with DDR3 or a nForce 790i board you are gonna have to pay out the ass or compromise, and if you want a top tier LGA775 build those are your goal possibly with a QX9650 / QX9750
>>282965
Turns out my mic's volume problems were due to software settings being fucked up, not due to hardware failure. That's good because a halfway decent mic would have been quite expensive and there isn't anything fundamentally wrong with the JLAB Talk.

I've also adjusted my fan curve so that the case fans are almost completely silent when the machine is on, and the only noise made from the CPU fan whirring up is a dull roar. I think previously it'd been revving up too fast, or the fan speed hadn't really matched the temperature of the CPU, but things are as they should be now.

From my understanding it used to be
>le assassins good
>le templars gnadszi bad
But now it's more like WH40k where there are no real good guys and everyone holds questionable views and morals but this side is still less bad because that's the one we play as. If Ubisoft were smart they would've started a parallel series at some point developing and whitewashing the templars lore and characters a bit in order to cause some kind of real life competitive feud between the fans of each factions and attracting more players from both sides since the games are very obviously political.

The second game is much better.
AC1 -> AC2 -> Brotherhood -> Revelations -> AC3 -> Black Flag all have a linear story which was originally going to build up to a final parkour and stealth based game in the modern world but then the creative director was fired before 3 and it was eventually relegated to literal bullshit.
Revelations is my favorite because it's the final refinement of all the mechanics 1 had, splits weapons into secondary and primary letting you mix and match, the hookblade makes parkour MUCH faster and the city is littered with ziplines making traversal very fun. It is also the only game with bombcrafting which basically lets you choose how big of AoE you want and whether the bombs should be straight up damage and distractions or stealthy poison fumes.
Revelations is also the only game which has the Jannisaries who can counter your counter.

That may be even worse. At least when they're trying to portray the Asses as the utter top of morality it was easy enough for them to write the Temps as crazy jerks. If they're trying to do "Grey" morality it'll make the Asses look even worse because not even the narrative is supporting them anymore despite the writers constantly calling them the best of two bad options.
Also didn't they kill the genetic melting pot that was Desmond and keep his brain in a jar or something?

Fuck yeah, now we're talking about an actual good game! The third one was massively handicaped by the console demands, but I still hold it up as a great trilogy of games and a much better exploration of the warring sides of the man's society. The first game's villain desires man to revert back to nature as a wild beast afraid of the dark The second game's villain wanted the opposite by transforming all life into machinery and the third game's villain, while not properly explored due to the short comings of the development cycle, showed how the third option of the Keeper's control and manipulation from the shadows for what they saw as balance allowed a monster to roam and cause death and terror freely. At least that's as best as I can put together right now.

Nintendo Halts Switch 2 Pre-Orders Over Trump's Tariffs
https://archive.ph/20250404234439/https://kotaku.com/switch-2-preorder-price-tariff-trump-nintendo-1851774764
>New tariffs threaten massive price hikes on gaming hardware and other consumer goods
>Switch 2 pre-orders were supposed to begin on April 9. No longer. In an unprecedented move, Nintendo announced on Friday that it’s halting pre-orders for its upcoming $450 hardware launch because of new tariffs in the U.S. set to go into effect beginning on April 5.
>A statement from Nintendo, first obtained by GameSpot, reads: “Pre-orders for Nintendo Switch 2 in the U.S. will not start April 9, 2025 in order to assess the potential impact of tariffs and evolving market conditions. Nintendo will update timing at a later date. The launch date of June 5, 2025 is unchanged.”
>The Switch 2 reveal this week showcased big new games like Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong Bananza, but also big new price jumps that took fans by surprise. On the same day the Switch 2 was revealed, President Donald Trump announced new tariffs of over 20 and 40 percent on some countries, including China, Vietnam, and Japan.
>They could push game and Switch 2 hardware pricing even higher for players in the U.S. starting later this month on April 10. Trump has already said he’s open to negotiating the new trade taxes, however, and Nintendo could be waiting to see if he reverses course before moving ahead with pre-orders as previously planned for the Switch 2's June 5 release.
>Pre-orders were set to begin next week, with retailers like Best Buy and Walmart already promising midnight launches for the most anticipated console launch in years. Pre-orders were also set to take place directly through Nintendo beginning in May, though with a series of strict requirements that would exclude all but the most hardcore fans from having a shot at qualifying.
>Even before the latest Trump tariffs were announced, fans had been calling on Nintendo to drop the price of the Switch 2 and Mario Kart World, which is set to be the company’s first $80 release. Chants of “drop the price” have been flooding the Nintendo Treehouse Live streams on YouTube meant to showcase exclusive new footage of the company’s new Switch 2 games.
>The tariffs, should they go into effect as planned, could raise prices by hundreds of dollars on the most expensive electronics unless Nintendo decides to eat the cost of the tax by letting it cut into Switch 2 profit margins. Many analysts had speculated that the company had already built uncertainty around higher tariffs amid an escalating trade war into its current $450 pricing for the Switch 2, but its latest statement suggests the console could end up costing even more in the U.S. by the time it launches in June.
>The Entertainment Software Association, a U.S. trade group that represents Nintendo and other gaming companies, said the tariffs “are going to have a real and detrimental impact on the video game industry.” ESA senior vice president Aubrey Quinn told Game File this week “Every company, every industry, the video game industry included, needs to think about what’s best for consumers, best for business, and best for employees. Supply chains are complicated and, certainly, supply chains don’t change overnight. Everything that is considered or decided can’t be a quick turnaround and can’t be a knee-jerk reaction to any particular announcement.”

You should try playing some Mark of the Wolves on fightcade if you're up for it. I've only played that with friends so I can't tell you off the top of my head what, if any, single player content it has other than a regular arcade mode. I assume there's zero additional SP content. I only suggest it since you're enjoying the sequel, and it's a really great game. It plays very similar. Who knows, maybe you'll want to match with someone waiting in the fightcade lobby who's been playing it for over twenty years. I don't even consider playing randoms on something like that, personally. If I wanted to get raped I'd go to the get-raped-by-20-year-trained-professional-rapists store.

>Does no one remember that people HATED SF5's art design and favored that of SF4?
<DAE anyone remember bad thing and good thing????? upboats???????
SF4's art style in vanilla was VERY rough, especially compared to the lavish sprites from SF3 or the clean art direction from SF Alpha. As the series went on, it got better and that's what people who follow the game remember; ugly dudes like Fei Long and Honda and Sagat don't get remembered for having elbows made of polygons, whereas hot babes like Poison and Ibuki leave a stronger impression. People remember that Rose had a cool DLC costume for the game's final costume pack and not that her jawline looked like a man made of steel blocks.

The same thing happened with SFV, although that game never really seemed to settle on a defined art style since characters like Abigail and Alex (both early-mid DLC) look deformed, Chun (at launch) looked the best she ever has in 3D, and Akira (final season) looked inhumanly skinny. It's easy to pick and choose the good stuff or bad stuff to believe whatever you want.

Through a custom client-side mod, you can download it from here (including source code): https://files.fatbox.moe/8i1294.7z
>regardless whether someone talked or not.
Some people talked alright. Just not anons.
>Is it Goldberg or SSE?
The game archive in OP uses plain, regular Goldberg.

Sven's voice chat uses Steam's API to capture audio input and encoding it, and for decoding that same audio.
The encoded voice data is sent to the game server itself, which then sends to other clients. This is opposed to my previous assumption that the game used some Steam specific channel to transmit and receive voice data.
The reasons why I didn't implement the codec in Goldberg itself are:
>Goldberg needs Microsoft's Visual C/C++ compilers when building for Windows, or else Steam's interfaces' virtual tables' layouts break (they're compiler specific)
>When building for Linux with Clang, some virtual functions' ABI would change (for example, an 8 byte long parameter would be passed through two 32-bit registers instead through a pointer to it)

DOOM
Other retroFPS and retro inspired FPS can come too.
boomer shooters is the most retarded fucking tag I've seen till this day.

Since the thread has been anchored and I don't feel like hopping over to 4cucks /vr/ board or any other classic doom website since the community feels like it's in absolute fucking shambles holy shit I think it's time to bring it back up.

Post some Doom
Post some WADS
Post some MODS
Post some other retro fps like DUKE NUKEM
Post some of its COPYCATS
Post some new takes on an old formula like DUSK and all that jazz.*or make fun of them**
Post about the communities because GOSSIP is also fun.
Are you Mappan? Post it here TOO
Are you a Modder as well? Post some of your AWESOME gun sprites, textures, or other things you're working on here too.

lol
I've actually met the demon thing that's wearing Randy's skin (don't ask) and he's whiter than whiteout. If his hair was orange he'd be the proverbial ginger male market failure. Unless there's some other retard calling himself Marisa on the internet?

The one involved in the pedophilia scandal was Marisa the Magician. Turns out there are two of them in the zdoom community, Marisa is an extremely common tranny name because it's taken from Touhou.
