This, hostbro really should have looked into the program first.

I'm not OP, but I just tested the alternative mod, OpenMP, and it's okay, but you have to shut down the server every single time you want to change modes, and I don't think it supports as much stuff.
MTA was probably simpler to setup in the past, but good luck finding scripts for old versions.
>>275022
There's a bunch of different modes in MTA besides free roam.
Replies: >>275067
There's also this but it's still an alpha, and I'm not sure how viable it would be to suddenly set up with a bunch of random anons:
https://youtu.be/jnKoX0Hhw-8

By the way, OpenMP requires even more steps to set up on Linux than MTA, but it has no anti-cheat which is nice.

I remember playing SA-MP over a decade ago, the mod OpenMP seems to be forked from. Plane surfing is the first thing that I remembered. Have someones video from 2008.

>>275044
I searched for "gta iv story mode coop" after watching that, seems somebody had the same idea for that game too. Of course, the issue is that it's been a while and the modders congregated on some ((( discord ))) server that the invite link fails to lead to. Usual stuff. Also you're required to use the abomination that is GFWL for connectivity and it requires a valid cd key of some sort.

Chinese Man Sues Gaming Firm For Depression After Getting 4,800 Virtual Slaps
https://archive.ph/20250411005356/https://www.ndtv.com/world-news/chinese-man-sues-gaming-firm-for-depression-after-getting-4-800-virtual-slaps-8107018
>A long-time Chinese player of an online video game has dragged its developer to court, alleging he slipped into depression after being virtually slapped 4,800 times by in-game goods.
>Thousands of "slaps" in 'Three Kingdoms Kill Online' reportedly humiliated the man, who goes by the name Qiaoben and has been a fan for 15 years, reported the South China Morning Post.
>Mr Qiaoben claimed that during one game, he found his opponents would toss things such as eggs and straw sandals at his avatar, adding he'd get a virtual smack lasting longer than 90 seconds.
>He said he was hit with these items over 4,800 times in the last six months. Mr Qiaoben mentioned the encounter was humiliating because every player in the game could see these attacks.
>"Every time I am hit with eggs, I feel my self-esteem is harmed and I get depressed," Mr Qiaoben added.
>Players can either purchase the eggs and straw sandals for a nominal fee or get them for free during in-game activities.
>He claimed that the gaming company "allows" and "tolerates" gamers to throw these insulting objects at one another while making money off of the sales.
>Mr Qiaoben allegedly complained to customer support several times, but his concerns went unanswered. With no other choice, he chose to sue the business and demand damages.
>A spokesperson for the game developer earlier said these interactive elements have always been included in the game but intended to implement restrictions to control how they are used.
>The company also guaranteed to assist with Mr Qiaoben's lawsuit's legal proceedings, which has generated significant online conversation within the gaming world.
>Many players admitted to using these products as a means of vengeance after losing a match. Some even discussed ways to "save face" following a loss by throwing eggs repeatedly.
>Three Kingdoms Kill Online, created by a Hangzhou-based business and launched in 2009, takes place during the famous Three Kingdoms era in China (220-265). Matches run 10 to 30 minutes and feature four to eight players competing against each other.

Agreed. Our enemies keep winning and we keep losing. Almost enough to make you wonder what the point of fighting back against the machine is when all it does is make us miserable while our enemies are living their best lives winning more and more battles every day with loving and supportive friends.

One of the things thats quite annoying is when you talk to someone about an old game and you start to notice that the person you are talking to is just parroting something. You'll notice phrases, words, sentences being almost exactly the same. Kind of like deja-vu. And something that has happened several times is me coming across a video essay on youtube (which i never watch) and seeing the exact same opinion expressed in that video. So for instance a shitty medicore game called Mad Max i recently played. Another example would be Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days. Another shitty game being praised simply because youtubers says its a hidden gem or some masterpiece that everyone somehow forgot or ignored bla bla bla. Its just very interesting because you could simply go back into the past by looking at old reviews to see how everyone thought of the game. The worst part about this is that normalfags cannot think for themselves. Whatever the youtuber says the normalfag repeats. So now these games are considered to be somewhat good with normalfags which doesnt even make any fucking sense. Common thing i see is that alot of people that have these opinions say something like
>oh i played this in my childhood
or something like that. So they obviously have some sort of bias towards it already. Just because you played a shitty game as a kid doesnt make the game good. Fucking retards.
Oh and i almost forgot to mention No Man's Sky. Remember that shitty gam

>AI=creative and good
I want to fucking stomp cuckchanner skulls in. You faggots are fucking retarded. There is nothing of value of something made by a machine. There is no creativity or thought behind it. Just a generated soulless heap of trash. You are advocating for a future that is a EAT THE BUGS drip feed dystopian shithole.
>>275050
If you thunk AI wont be capable of bringing entire new ways of gaming to us on an unimaginable scale you are literally retarded.

Shit, you can add AI to pretty much any game now and it would be infinitely better than ANYTHING a human dev could ever do. Imagine firing up Civ 5 for example, but now all the opponents are thinking as a real AI. Simply doing this alone makes that better than any dev could. Or think about AI controlling opponents in any shooter. Bow it isn't dumb scripted trash, but thunking opponents. Or have AI now control ALL NPCS in GTA. You have an instantly different and more in depth game. No human can do this ever.

Now take this and have AI create entire new game genres. Dark Souls mixed with GTA, done. No game dev is doing this nor could they. AI is the literal future and if you think otherwise you simply aren't paying attention
Replies: >>275079 >>275089
>>275050
If AI surpasses humans, then the best art will come from computers.
>>275077
Offloading previously algorithmically controlled tasks to a more advanced algorithm is not novel or inventive. Your NPC example is only an incremental improvement upon an already well developed idea.

Your smashing two game genres together is similarly non-novel. You are taking two developed ideas and combining them in a very literal way. An algorithm can do this, but it's not particularly inventive. "AI" definitely has a place in games development, but it's not revolutionary. It definitionally cannot be since it must be trained on existing data and is expressly designed to manipulate that data to reproduce predictable results.

So it fucking sucks? It's amazing that, for how long 4X/strategy games have been around, there's always been people who barely play them like yourself begging for more human-like opponents. But I have a secret for you anon: strategy devs know how to do this. They've known how to do it for a long time, and in fact they often playtest and reject things when they accidentally make the computer player too clever. The reason is simple: when you are defeated by a very clever computer opponent you don't feel like you've been outsmarted--heh, good game my worthy rival--like you do with an actual human being. You simply feel cheated.

Why? Because games are about testing one's skill for the purposes of entertainment. When you're facing off against another human, one of the major skills you're employing is your ability to empathize with an accurately predict what your fellow human is thinking. This is not a skill you can deploy against a computerized opponent. They do not think. They have not experienced a childhood. They haven't experienced anything analogous to what a human has experienced in order to shape their approach to game strategy.

Thus, singleplayer game experiences have to test some other kind of skill. The key to

I don't think I've seen a single /gsg/ thread on zzz since day zero and I decided I've had enough of waiting for someone else to make it. The one on smug, which you can find here https://smuglo.li/vg/res/1231.html , was made a staggering four (4) years ago, only got 200 posts and the last was made 11 months back, so I think it's time we get our own and hopefully get not glacial levels of activity.

So, what are you playing? Still playing Parajew shit and incesting your entire family in CK2, blobbing in Vicky or has anyone been as far as decided to trying something new more like for a change?

Speaking of Parajew, the latest HOI4 expansion "Arms Against Tiranny" dropped a few weeks back adding a few more mechanics, which should've been in the base game to begin with but are instead, in typical Parajew fashion, locked behind a paywall, like slightly more in depth supply networks, transports, a barebones international arms dealing market and new focus trees for Scandinavian countries. I decided to give it a spin and pirated it for the 15th time and I'm now playing an (read: restarted a dozen times because I keep getting repeatedly fucked over by one thing or another) a-historically focused campaign as Shittaly trying to gigablob the entire universe and it's not going particularly great. Here's a recap of the events so far:
>wrapped up the nigger correction expedition just before March and justified against France while in the middle of it still
>knocked out the frogs by mid 38 after a rather slow and sloppy war, which I won 1:5 ratio, and yoinked all their navy which included 7 juicy BBs, 1 CV, a couple dozen light and heavy cruisers and over a hundred destroyers and subs
>barely managed to nick the the strategic Moroccan half of the strait of Gibraltar by declaring on nationalist Spain, sneaking in from France, making a quick push through an ever narrowing strip of land before it could get gobbled up by the other sides of the civil war and then nailing the peace conference just right to demand it and other minor bits of clay
>took less than a month and almost no casualties
>I'm starting to look at Uncle Adolf or the UK when fucking Marxist Portugal decides to declare war on me out of the blue
>they're landlocked so I just lmao naval invade them with not even a full army of nigger irregulars and own them in 3 weeks
>them being Marxist unfortunately translated to them also being in a faction with the USSR and now I'm at war with them but we are too far to fight
>meanwhile
>Germany is Germanying along doing typical somewhat historical path of annexing Austria, and then going to war with the Czechs and the rest of the balkans because they all decided to be in one faction
>Poland commies are about to win a civil war

CK3 will never be anything but a fart events game. It will never have flavor they just keep focusing on le reddit memes. With the Roads to Power dlc it seemed like they were going to actually change and add what the players wanted but then they just doubled down and went back to fart events dlcs. Only mods will save the game at this point.
Posting the most recent Tinto talk from Wednesday about how Catholicism is gonna work (they made a flavor DD for the Papal States after that though)

Seems like Johan made a major fumble here, the process of creating saints and obtaining cardinals is really poorly set up right now, and even the guys in the forum itself are shitting on it.
I’ve been somewhat optimistic on EU5 so far, but they really need to backpedal on this because it is not only boring, but it’s totally inaccurate.

DOMINIONS, RISE OF THE PACHINKO MAN

Well what is this "Dominons" is it safe for my kids?
no

Dominions is a fantasy turn-based strategy game created by two dudes. One of them is a teacher.
The game combines a simple presentation with an extremely wide array of strategic options, including over 3400 units, 1100 spells and 400 magic items. Turns are resolved simultaneously,
It has simplistic graphics but is easily moddable and extremely deep.
Dominions is set in a fantasy world that draws inspiration from historical nations, cultures and myths. You will not encounter the elves of conventional fantasy in this game. Instead you might lead a nation of vanir from old norse myth. Aztecs, romans, israelites OY VEY!! , greeks, kievian rus and lovecraftian horrors are just a few of the inspirational sources of the game.

Basically, it's an autist’s wet dream of a strategy game.

Anything to do with the Zone.
Don't just stand there, come in.

I looked in the catalog and there wasn't anything, and it's sdalger so there should be.

Some standalone mods (free):
https://www.moddb.com/mods/lost-alpha (1.4005 DC was the most fun imo)
https://www.moddb.com/mods/stalker-anomaly (This one is really good but the crafting is extremely autistic. I suggest using the game settings to tweak the economy and skipping the crafting entirely.)
https://www.moddb.com/mods/doctorx-call-of-the-zone (This is neat in a SLIGE map sort of way with generated quests and a freeplay style. The main modder behind this died a while ago. RIP in pepperoni diet sausage.)

Anomaly's Chernobyl Relay Chat was pretty based for a while, but the trannies had found it last time I looked.

Yes it's gay and lame, and probably a symptom of why the mod team dissolved.
Which version were you trying to run?
Do you have all the directX crap installed?
What's the most advanced Stalker engine? Anomaly with modded exes? OpenXray? I assume there's some Russian mods but I can't read slav.

Looks like someone combined the recently popularized 3D scope mod with an older PiP scope system, so now you get PiP scopes with anything that supports 3DSS, which means basically all Anomaly/Gamma weapons. https://www.moddb.com/mods/stalker-anomaly/addons/3dss-picture-in-picture

Until ModDB/Mod Nexus culture is dead, this is what all modpack games for the forseeable future will be like.

GAMMA is pretty neat, but relies several hundred mods which you are LE NOT ALLOWED TO REDISTRIBUTE - thus, the installation has you download a custom Mod Manager setup and python script that automatically downloads said mods. The process is ridiculously long and cumbersome, but it fucking works astonishingly enough.
