These movies would be legit great without the gay human side plots that are totally unrelated to the entire Sonic franchise. It's basically a superhero vs supervillain movie with fun alien heroes and magical energy sources and futuristic technology weapons, but then for some reason puts a lot of focus into some human side characters' race mixing relationship and nigger weddings.

It seems like the ARK has been shafted entirely. I suppose that if you wanted to trim the fat in Shadow's story then that'd be your first choice. It's woven into the story nicely but it's definitely still the weakest link. It mostly existed to house a bunch of doomsday devices.
I know that it would have been stupid to expect a 1:1 port of the SA2 plot but I'm having a lot of difficulty conceptualizing what the third act of this movie will even be like. Shadow beating everyone's ass while doing poses from his game sounds like a good time but I don't know what the writers are going to do after that runs it's course. There isn't a lot to raise the stakes of the movie I guess is what I'm trying to say.

Someone there knows (correctly) that they can get away with a lot of annoying nigger stuff (extended nigwedding with characters no one cares for in 2) but there ain’t no way they can mess with shadows backstory. Just watched it. It was pretty good.
A very good adaptation of SA2, just without batats and Amy.
Maybe a bit too fast-paced, but I'll take it over the 15 minute wedding scene of 2.
I don't think I could recommend the first two movies to anyone other than autistic sonicfags like me, but this one is genuinely a good movie on its own with very fun action. 
Even if it's not a high bar to pass, it's the best videogame movie adaptation so far.

Also, I find it funny that the niggress from 2 got a whole poster, but her screen time was reduced to a 1 minute cameo.

And yes, Live and Learn is in it. No, not a shitty orchestrated cover. Pure unfiltered buttrock kino.

Well, the humor was still pretty insufferable. A highlight was hearing movie Sanic mouth off the "talk about low-budget flights" line, with little to no relevance to anything other than just being in a helicopter, and it still had a better flow than any joke that the writers have cooked up for three movies.
The best part was probably Shadow's backstory. They just played it completely straight with no suffocating millennial writing (though I'd bet money that even that was a command from the "Shadow can't have friends" guy), and it even covered the pretty neglected area of muh ria's actual friendship. Because we're told all the time that they were friends, but we never really see them being friends, you know? Whenever we see muh ria she's usually up to ten minutes away from getting gunned down.
And I'm sure that they had a panel or something about this in the comics but who gives a fuck.
Also, there were Metal Sanics and Amy Rose in the post credits, so I guess it's CD next. I'm surprised that this is the order that they're doing things in. I love CD, but so many people are nostalgic for SA2, so it kind of feels like the movie crew blew their wad early.

If they can't get Jim Carrey for 4, then it's best they did SA2 this early. With the success of this one, it's easier to get people to watch the next one without relying on his name and face on the cover.
I expect them to have a time traveling plot in 4, and with that introduce Silver in the post-credits and adapt 06 for 5. 
I just hope it doesn't become too bloated. I like that they been keeping it to 2 new characters per movie.

What did you expect GUN to do? All they do in SA2 is chase Sonic and that's about it. They served their purpose of killing Maria and giving Shadow and Gerald a reason to be mad.
I think the characters were fine. I like that scene of Sonic threatening Knuckles, Knuckles defending Tails, Robotnik's final scene. The quality time between Maria and Shadow scenes were also nice.

If I'm being too positive, then here are some complains I had:

On a related topic I just caught up with the comic. The Riders arc was good, the finale is a little disappointing but the IDW team has managed to learn what worked from the Archie years while leaving the worst of the autism behind. Clutch should have had some kind of dangerous power in his back pocket because the fight with him was pretty flat. Surge is cute a way better character that Scourge or whatever the evil green Sonic was called, and making the "evil Tails" dangerously codependent was brilliant. I wish they had paid Spaz to do a cover for issue 75.

Yeah I did, i caved in and went watch it with my friend. It was, to me, mediocre. I have never played any Sonic games seriously, so im not really invested in the story, but the movie is really really fucking childish.
