What is this?
>SRB2Kart is a kart racing mod based on the 3D Sonic the Hedgehog fangame Sonic Robo Blast 2, based on a modified version of Doom Legacy.

How to join
>Launch SRB2K by running srb2kart-neptune.exe on Windows, or executing Neptune-2.2gFBO-64Bit.AppImage on Linux.
>Go to "Multiplayer",  "Join the server by IP" then enter the server's IP address.
>When in the server, you may change your player character and play.
NOTE: Don't load any addons before joining the server! They'll all be loaded when you get in.

Additional notes
Game's running the Neptune fork of SRB2K for its features and (claimed) stability.
All addons in the download are from previous nights, so thank you to the previous hosts for putting them together.

here's a couple protips from the last couple threads, really you'll be a lot better off just popping on in and playing, but these will help a lot if you're new.
and your best settings (depending on monitor size and playstyle) would be to go to console ( ` key ) and type:

this increases your overall field of view and stops most tracks from flipping the camera during the race. you really don't need much else

I don't know how many got edited in the end, there was a bunch of character wad edits and merges? and I think some maps had tranny flags removed or something. The archive didn't preserve timestamps and I can't be arsed to go through them manually, I did a quick comparison against some old files (same names only) and those look fine, probably, I dunno my head is killing so probably missed something. I would like to join but I think I'm just gonna go lay down.

Only remember anon making gondola, but that's been around for a lot longer than any stability issues. And the pod racing map that never got off the ground.

How in the love of fuck do you run this on Linux? I try to compile it and I get a random lua error. I try to run the appimage and it complains about missing a bunch of obscure libraries, so I'm guessing it was built specifically for Fedora. There's another site that has a script just for building this game but you have to install a gigabyte of shit and it just makes a docker build. Am I going to have to use wine? I'm  thinking this wasn't tested by whoever made it.

One more question for the OP.
Can I make some free space for new characters? I wanted to add Felicia, so I could sort and compress multiple characters into several categorized files, such as KC_Vidya_1, KC_Vidya_2, KC_Weeb_1 and so on to free up the WAD limit. The Neptune fork raises the character limit to 65534, so it won't be an issue.

Not a bad idea but I wouldn't go super crazy with the number of characters. Because this game is a hack of a hack of a hack of a hack of 20 year old FPS engine, it still uses fixed-size buffers to keep track of the internal handles for pretty much everything. There's only so many of these "freeslots" to go around for each type of resource (sprites, object states, sounds) and when you run out bad things start happening.

The cmake build files seem to have been left in a half-finished state (also got some random lua related linker error), the (probably outdated) wiki says the seemingly completely manually written Makefiles are still used for official builds. Anyway, I built it yesterday doing something like this:

Was testing settings on the server and noticed some duplicate characters due to the aforementioned wad fuckery:

Think I found the culprit in the texture drama. KR_BigForestV1.1.wad is replacing GRASS1, GRASS2, GRASS3 from srb2.srb. Wouldn't surprise me if this is another "worked before because of bugs" situation.

See, I realized something after I made that mod. You ever get random stutters and just assumed it was net lag? It was likely sound loading lag, for example when someone used a horn or a long sound started playing. So if you don't want random stutters you should be using -precachesound anyway.

I've no idea what you're talking about, there aren't any stutters in your video. I've never had an input dropped either and my latency is higher than yours. Try pinging the server for a while and see if you drop any packets I guess.

It's not a stutter. I'm guessing now that it's a mod that was added the other day with some really crappy lua code that runs every minute or so. All I know is that whenever it triggers, my keyboard releases get delayed for at least a second resulting in some pretty retarded drifting.

i just went in with the guy for a bit and every so often there'd be entire frame spikes; only problem is actually debugging it since we don't know what the shit is causing it. it didn't seem to be horns on my end. and i think it really only started on the second week.
my theory could very well be a bad map pack that causes cpu spikes on hostlad's server since it sound similar to when i hosted (except it'd just flat-out kill the system since it was a cheap vps) but that's me shitting out my ass here

Others anons have suggested this before: you could try using nature sounds like wind blowing through tree leaves, or perhaps string instruments, giving some sort of a mythological aspect to Gondola.
If you want something more vocal, bear/animal noises could work, or would that trait be exclusive to his finngolian cousin?
