I really should finish Silent Hill 2the original. Never got to play it, but the community-made Enhanced edition convinced me to download it. I played for a couple of hours and it was pretty good, but eventually I lost interest. It's been months since then, I should start over.

they're not particularly good games, but they're really comfy and immersive. the original penumbra is the best in that regard. amnesia is really just the second penumbra but in a different setting nothing less nothing more. overall they're decent experiences paired to decent plots but don't go expecting good gameplay.

i'm playing SoTN for the first time and it's amazing. the music alone man. and playing the series back to back it's so satisfying to see the changes to a more metroid like formula.

i think i'm cheesing it because i'm flying through enemies with the combat knife (very easy to spam attacks) and an amulet that doubles ATT at the cost of DEF=0. i'm usually a magic user in games but it really doesn't feel worth it in this. i just started the inverted castle though

At some point the aesthetics will wear off and you'll realize how comically underdesigned the game is. From the insultingly easy bosses and strange difficulty spikes to the complete abortion that is the upside-down castle where they drop the Metroid pretensions entirely and force you into a tedious fetch quest where you're constantly morphing in and out of forms (and waiting on MP to recharge) to get around.

It's funny how that hack Igarashi could copy all the basic aesthetics of Super Metroid but reject its most important innovation, the run button and Speed Booster, dropping you in a big platforming world with a character that meanders around like a slug. Richter controls how a character ought to in a game like this, but for some reason they dropped him and decided to waste the player's fucking time controlling a vampire with Parkinson's.

Zombie Shooter is a prequel to Alien Shooter games, essentially before the aliens overrun Earth we were on course to becoming a Resident Evil like universe where not-Umbrella was experimenting on zombies. Story is pretty generic in both games, an outbreak has lead to a breach and there is zombies everywhere, you are there to kill all the zombies and kill the biggest and most evil zombie at the end. The most interesting part of the story is that in 2 your main motivation is actually rescuing your spouse, altho in the 1.0 version it was just your wife, meaning that if you played as a female character you were canonically a lesbian. Sigma Team patched that out so that if you play a female character now, you are rescuing your husband.

Heavily recommend playing the Alien Shooter games btw, if you are going to play Alien Shooter 2/Vengeance make sure to play the original release that has RPG elements since for some god forsaken reason, the later releases of AS2 and then sequels like Zombie Shooter 2 all have very watered down skill trees in comparison to the more hardcore RPG elements of the original. Sigma Team is a casual game studio, now a flat out mobile game studio, so I guess their target audience didn't like the challenge.
>>322459
If you have to wait for MPs to change form in the inverted castle you're underleveled. Anyways, at about 4 hours in you can run at light speed with the wolf form. Aria of sorrow is also like that. They obviously didn't want to make a metroid clone so they kept the "go slow and jump+attack" of the series for half the (100%) game. Also, metroid is a shooter. In Castlevania I need to be slow to make precise melee attacks.

In the previous game Richter was slow like all the previous games, what are you on about? Is it the easier SNES port maybe? I only ever played the original Rondo of Blood for the PC Engine.

>Anyways, at about 4 hours in you can run at light speed with the wolf form.
Only in a handful of very specific runway sections of the castle does this even work for extended periods, and especially poorly in the upside-down castle which is full of uneven ceilings to navigate. The bat crash attack is more useful, but it uses up MP too quickly and forces you to re-transform every time you bump into things.

>Aria of sorrow is also like that.
Aria doesn't give you an actually useful fast movement tool until the very end of the game right before the final boss. Circle of the Moon got it right by handing you Richter's sprinting ability at the start of the game.

>what are you on about?
Put RICHTER in the name on a new file to unlock Richter Mode in Symphony of the Night. He has dramatic movement enhancements (including sprinting) compared to the both his Rondo/Dracula X incarnations and the Parkinson's patient Alucard.

The slow, methodical movement of the Classicvanias works well for them because they are short, tightly-constrained action games with linear level progression, but it's not a good choice for a large open world game with a lot of backtracking. Demon's Crest is another game that made a similar mistake to Symphony of the Night, though unlike Symphony of the Night it wasn't blatantly trying to rip off Super Metroid and its open levels are somewhat smaller spaces.

That's disgusting, not spooky, unless you're referring to the sanity-blasting horror of knowing there are humans on this planet paying actual currency for scat porn.

The horror is the fact that women are disgusting horrendous creatures that are somehow labeled the same species as anon.

You forgot the wee-wee, virgin killing, beastialolity and sadomasochistic rape. Also virtually all the women except one in it are horrible creeps.

I'm replaying Scooby-Doo! Night of 100 Frights. Since It got a recomp. I also bothered to look at my steam calendar and found a interesting looking game that looked like it was made by japs with inspiration from 90s styles visual novels only to found out that it is made by gooks.
Even the frickin gooks are pretty much trying to sell "thing, Japan" now. Lesson to learn from this is simply always check where a game originates from because there is always a cockroach trying to make money off of actual good entertainment and only see a trend and style they can trick any retard into believing they invested their time and money into something good.

What use is having a skull to a skeleton? You don't have functional eyeballs or a sense of scent remotely.
