Never been a fan of the series, but Virtua Fighter 6 does look interesting, especially considering the lack of juggle and characters floating in the air like they weight nothing, and the focus on single player stuff.
Unfortunately I don't have a current gen console and my laptop is a toaster, so no chances to play that any time soon.

So everyone should use macros then, as I see it.

I've always felt like the challenge is overcoming unintuitive controls and mastering them so you can actually utilize fighting strategies. Most people never get passed the first part to be able to get to the 2nd. If memorizing button combinations and executing them accurately gives you enough of an advantage to be considered cheating, then they should either simplify the inputs or built macros into the game mechanics.
>>313299
There's a couple indie fighting games which have easy specials. Capcom vs SNK 2 EO also had the right stick for specials, which was cool, but of course we're not allowed to have that anymore.

Binding a button input that the game allows you to bind is not cheating. Most fighting games that require multiple buttons to be pressed simultaneously will let that multi-input be on its own button (Tekken lets players assign a both-punches button, SF4 lets players assign an all-kicks and all-punches button). I can only assume you're asking about this case because it's the only situation with any ambiguity at all, and there are differences between arcade machines and home consoles; arcade machines often only had the basic attack buttons and required any simultaneous inputs to be done manually, such as in Tekken where the arcade machines only have 4 buttons.

Using a third party program to play scripts into a fighting game to execute moves and motions for you is obviously cheating and I seriously hope you aren't enough of a drooling monkey to think it's acceptable.

Not gonna pretend I have a horse in this race since it's not my genre; but from the outside looking in, there still seems to be some titles trying to reinvent the wheel. Just off of last SGF, Shot One Fighters & and the new Virtua Fighter seems to be "different" right? Also Varvarion's on my eternal backlog watchlog, if it ever wants to leave hyperfocused autistic solodev hell.
>>313549
Nah, there were plenty of fun fighting games released in the 2010s, even if several of them were the last versions of their games that we'd see for literally over a decade. It's just that the SFV era did incalculable damage to the genre and caused all Japanese devs (who would normally make good fighting games) to commit seppuku and destroy what remained of their genre by chasing a mythical audience of newbies - if the game is really easy and shitty and boring, then certainly everyone will play it. Ah, just as I'd expect from the chairman. Much insighto!

I love +R a lot too but the lack of buffer makes learning matchups such a huge pain in the ass. I just can't stand being 2-3f too early for a punish/mash only for it not to come out.

I hereby challenge you to a FT5. GGXX #Reload works through Flycast in Fightcade, either Naomi or Atomiswave; I just tested Naomi and it runs fine for me.

Name a date and time in EST. I wake up early for my job so I can't whip your ass later than 8:30 PM EST. I won't be free this Saturday but Sunday works.

Your next reply will be an excuse why Fightcade is a DRM platform and you can't do it.

Fightcade is intrusive crap and a nuisance to run on Linux systems.

It's also completely unnecessary for #Reload, which already has a native PC port with a good homebrew netplay plugin:
http://ggxx.wingdreams.net/

I may need to spend some time figuring out how to make it run at full fps in Wine first though.
Replies: >>313613 >>313616
I should say if I finally get #Reload running nicely in Wine I'll be very grateful for this exchange. Not being able to play #Reload nicely is one of my sources of immense frustration after dumping Windows years ago, although at that point there was nobody left to play it with me anyway.

Nah, it's you imposing requirement I can't satisfy (see this piece of crap here >>313581) and then using that to justify a logical fallacy ("you're wrong because you don't play X").

And yeah, the input plugin is fine. Desyncs don't generally happen very often, and it always catches them and cancels a match when they do happen. Uncorrected desyncs are a much bigger problem in games where a play lasts longer than a few minutes. Rollback is not the final word in netcode.

You're wrong by default because you refuse to step up to the most basic, standard challenge in fighting games.

If you refuse to fight me then you are free to upload yourself doing dustloops, VT loops, and converting off TK Bad Moon. Those are staple combos that anyone who has been playing #Reload since launch could do in his sleep.

<um no akshually it's not rollback but THAT'S GOOD because ROOLBACK IS BAED because STREET FIGHTER 5V ASDFASJDFHASJDFJASDHF
<an even if there were a desesync then it'd cancel the match like it shoudl!!
Ignoring the fact that cancelling a match isn't a good solution for desyncs, I play games with good rollback rather than in-house dogshit, so it's irrelevant.

Would you like to play a fighting game or continue screaming into the void about things you have no control over?

Well I've learned one new thing at least. Seems the training mode input overlay is the source of a dramatic fps reduction. That might be a clue to what kind of effects Wine is having such a hard time rendering (transparency/compositing effects?).

The DJ was pretty much tribute paid to the absolute dweeb of a towelhead prince who bought SNK with public money as a birthday present in thanks for letting them make a game with tits and asses in it, while Ronaldo is obviously a love letter to the primates in South America that were the only group to consistently keep SNK games in the zeitgeist, even if 99% of SNK games in that region were bootlegs.

Every new fighting game fails because they refuse to add a cool campaign like mortal kombat and soulcalibur, you are not KoF or Tekken, you need a story campaign and per character story mode, and challenges, and random ladder, and maybe dungeon crawling mode like Tobal, and maybe strategy mode like soul calibur 3, and a rpg mode, the point is, casuals don't play competitive, I don't play competitive, I want to play a single player focused fighting game, that is it.

Characters, they all suck in different way, you have waifu bait, you have homo bait, a closet homo bait, a fur faggot bait, and two cute characters, and that is it, none of them are cool, they are all safe, none of them have an edge to them.

I remember the many Street Fighters and Mortal Kombat on the 360 but at least they weren't selling game part by part, just skins and shit.
The mobile model of gameplay ransom by locking basic stuff with paywalls should be dead more than a decade ago.
Crazy how Fortnite gets a better fair game model than most of games.
IIRC Jewtendo execs really wanted to make Wii Sports paid instead of a free game. One of the reasons of how big success it was and everyone, kids to grandmas, played this.

Companies trying to milk every coin out of something makes me laugh, most of the time they fail.
A lot of games wouldn't die (at least so fast) if they gave at least the basics for free.
