One of the best ARPGs and and also one of the game that got Tencent's foot into the Western market is getting a sequel. Since this place is so slow, I park a thread here.

Game looks fun, but unfortunately the F2P, getting owned by Tencent bullshit kills it for me. I'll probably play through the main story once and then be done with it.

That's also the very reason why only like 3% of the players have some easy achievements. What really slightly miffs me are the crazy regular prices for stashtabs types you need if you ever plan to be rich in this game. Thank God for sales.

>What really slightly miffs me are the crazy regular prices for stashtabs types you need if you ever plan to be rich in this game.
I wish this game wasn't F2P. I'd rather just buy it once and then unlock everything that's not mad expensive armor/skill/weapon or shield skins. People often tell you that you don't need every stash tab, but you shouldn't spend more than $60 on a F2P game like this just to unlock everything that should be available by default in the first place. The way they've designed their game gives their paypiggies clear advantage over the others that have spent less on money on the game than they did. It's P2W no matter how you look at it.
>Thank God for sales.
I hate them because they prove that their entire marketing of the game relies on whales and FOMO.

Poe is a bad game, and ggg hates their players.
Its filled with shitty interface designed to waste your time, and make you click unreasonable amount, while they sell autolootbot on chink client. They added AH in western version, after it was a thing on chink client forever. Whole design is around making p2w features, and removing them from western version of the game, which makes it extremely awful to play. Bugs which benefit players are fixed instantly, while some bossfights are never fixed since their release years ago. They claim that its impossible to find someone to add a slot to a stash tab slot (for a paid stash tab) for over a year, because they are small indie company, they just dont have the resources for that. All while releasing multiple new specialized stash tabs for sale.
And they admitted that they design the game to kill players at random because they think its funny. Players can die at random, for invisible reasons, all the time. And game looks like utter shit when you play it, screen is filled with color vomit, and its impossible to tell what is going on.
GGG are extremely incompetent devs, which often claim that something is impossible, until they hire an actual coder, which fixes their shit for them, until they invent more problems for themselves. Game is riddled with technical debt and their philosophy is to release new content, without fixing the old content, because it makes more money that way. The only time they release QOL updates, is when people stop playing completely, due to unplayable state of the game, so they bribe players with features with QOL.
>we dont care about player numbers, at all.
>we are proud of our player numbers, its going great!
And each new announce they claim that they will fix all the problems in the game, every single fucking time. They fill trailers with "we buffing everything!" while they dont mention how they quadrupling monster damage and health, and nerfing drops.
>you just imagining low droprate, its the same as it always was! Stop pretending to have bad loot!
>we doubled droprate because you complained so much, you fucking whiners! but we still claim that the loot was fine before!
>we doubled it again, fuck you we hate you! Go back and play!
>loot is doing fine because some guy got 80 orbs (of expensive currency which normally drops as 1 max) from a single mob!
They dont know how their own game works, they make changes to it at random.
>game was bugged and players dealt less damage with X skill, we fixed the bug and lowered player damage accordingly, so now its intentional

I can spend hours ranting about why you should never play path of exile.

Couldn't have said it better myself. I'll also add that they've started including QoL features as limited-time microtransactions that you'll never be able to purchase again, such as the map device that tracks your kills or the armor set that tells you when your Vaal skill is recharged.
>>256339
PoE's dynamic resolution.
>>256339
Too much stuff going on. Happens on certain maps regularly if you don't kill stuff fast enough.

>>256311
< >you just imagining low droprate, its the same as it always was! Stop pretending to have bad loot

They do and this is why you have to bully the game into handing over what is rightfully yours.
Do there exist any games with a passive tree like PoE that are not
>chink-owned
>always-online
>created exclusively to milk you for cash
I want to work my way through a massive, open-ended skill tree again, but I can't find anything like it. Everything seems to have skill trees that are Diablo-style, smaller with each skill accepting multiple points, or just active skills that fill up your 20-key hotbar - not that PoE didn't have similar problems (shit flying everywhere all the time, churning through cannon fodder too fast to see what's going on, mashing every skill key like a monkey on crack).
>>260115
Sadly no. Not that I know of. The only other current ARPG besides Diablo 4 I spotted on 4cuck is also always online and probably uses Diablo 2 style skill trees. I wish somebody would take a crack at such a progression system, because the passive tree itself is pretty neat once you are galaxy brained enough to work around most of the bullshit the game throws at you.
>>260115
In addition to an active skill tree, Grim Dawn has a constellation thingy where you buy passives with a currency you get from purifying shrines. There are mods that add more constellations as well as more shrines.
Replies: >>260145
>>260115
Grim dawn's devotion system. You build constellations with each star being some bonus stats and some constellations have proc skills as the last node. It's not as nearly as many nodes though.
>>260144
You fucker, you posted this just as I was typing.
Replies: >>260148
>>260145
Not the same by a long shot. Unless you use mods that let Constellations also govern your stats and give you more small bonuses. I might misremembering that system since I haven't played Grim Dawn for a long time.. Its similar enough though. Totally forgot that one. Skill wise, Grimdawn uses a Diablo 2 inspired tree. If you want high end stuff, prepare yourself to grind even more than in PoE. Some neat stuff is obtainable through a faction system and the factions demand gorillions of points for their best items.

>Diablo 2 inspired
More like Titan Quest inspired. In general Grim Dawn is a spiritual successor to Titan Quest gameplay systems wise. It's made largely by the same people who made Titan Quest originally.

In case anyone cares, the game and the next league for the first one have been both delayed to next year. Looks like the Vision demands Vaal blood rituals. So the player base gets the Apology League instead. It is basically Settlers of Kalguur with a fresh economy and the Lantern mechanci from the league before it with only beneficial effects.
>>260148
>Unless you use mods that let Constellations also govern your stats and give you more small bonuses.
In the base game, you do get small stat bonuses for each star in a constellation. Some constellations don't even give a skill and are just there for stats or meeting requirements to take other constellations.

Fucking how? Classes were literally just a different start point on that giant meme of a passive skill tree.
Replies: >>261126
>>261112
The starting point focuses more sharply on certain stuff, I suppose. To make the Scion unnecessary, they crammed in 3 two new classes that can fullfil whatever role she supposed to play and they conceptionally split the witch in half by adding the Sorceress. Also skills are usually designed with a certain class in mind. I am sure there are ways the player base will subvert GGG's idea and creates something truly cursed.
>unengaging click-to-move garbage

Is OP planning on revealing to us that the "A" stands for something other than "action"?

They have been nerfing droprates, yes. Nowadays they decided the way to nerf shit is to make nerfs permanent but pair them with seasonal high power league shit.

Personally I don't care too much about droprate issues because I've always played budget builds so I can avoid most of that loot cancer, but I can confirm GGG has been gay about these things before.

The big issue is usually just that the combat isn't very good because you can always zip around at high speeds and make 1 super skill to kill everything and when you play hardcore there often isn't a good way to tell which heavy blow is meant to do 10000 damage (which will oneshot the overwhelming majority of players but is quite survivable with a decent defensive investment in your build) and which one is meant to do 1000000 damage (which is absolutely going to fucking kill you unless you have a super-extreme defensive build that stacks all the damage reduction multipliers and cranks its health up really, really fucking high), and yes there are boss attacks that do that much fucking damage. You either learn the hard way by ripping characters every time as you raise defenses, give up and play softcore, or just have to resort to looking up all this bullshit ahead of time and doing tons of autistic number crunching to figure out what the game won't tell you about what will kill you.

Autistically learning boss patterns also helps. The majority of one shot bullshit resides on pinnacle bosses. The problem with PoE is that they recreated Diablo 2 but the want you to play 2hu. This doesn't work without a dodge butten.

>>275148

Technically it could be also as well facepaint. I have seen it in person. You can go fuck yourself if still want to claim the design is supposed to be some skin condition some race communist asshole picked to make propaganda. Look pal, I'm actually with you on it being obnoxious when people see SJW cancer in fucking everything and fly off the handle, but in this case that sure does look like actual vitiligo, and vitiligo has actually become of those "neat" things to include in games and shit lately. Usually facepaint has patterns or a special look it's trying to achieve. That looks like vitiligo.

The whole point is that you're supposed to learn boss patterns and dodge but hardcore mode is not conducive to trial-and-error learning like that and it is an issue that everyone is being pushed into the same dodge patterns when some builds have ridiculously better defenses than others. There are guys who do everything with 5-8K EHP and then there are guys who have like 20-40K EHP and found ways to reduce damage taken to 6% if not lower (this is much more popular in hardcore for obvious reasons). If you are in group 2, you still need to carefully plan for what the bullshit oneshot mechanics are and you need to be able to tell how much damage the bullshit oneshot does to discern if you can tank it or if you need to push your damage reduction even further.
Replies: >>275267
>>275231
Exactly. But this is not a problem if you play softcore like a normal person. Concerning the uniformity of builds; That is the name of the game. At least when it comes to things that are considered effective. Not everyone is good at autistically pouring over path of building and figuring out new exciting way of breaking the game or making their favorite skill work. GGG love for nerfs and tools like poe ninja are just pouring salt into the wound.
Replies: >>275274
>>275229
But is actually some kind of face paint. As you can see in the screenshots above, Maraketh are white people. Ever seen golden people? No? Me neither. Also the skin disease you are talking about seems to be rare among whites.
Replies: >>275274
 >>275267
This retarded shit really just promotes playing softcore and glass cannon clearspeed cancer where you know you're gonna die doing this shit some of the time but most of the time you'll kill everything before it hurts you and you get fat stacks of loot from clearing everything faster so that's what's rewarded since the game is designed with practically instakill mechanics.

Dammit son, I just want my super-defensive builds to have value. Well, the current league lets you do permanent Gluttony of Elements if you want. And you can convert 100% of damage taken as elemental. But you can't do both, alas. Invulnerability builds always make GGG asspained and that's the tanking option you're left with if they push the game too deep into over-the-top oneshot mechanics.

>>275269
Eh, we'll see. I have my doubts.
