Is anyone else having problems with Invidious? I've tried six or so instances today, and none of them can load shit.

Off and on from earlier this week. Sometimes it works fine, sometimes it just needs a refresh or two, and sometimes it just fails for hours on end.

YouTube is cracking down on the popular (read: reliable) instances. Your best bet is to find one run by some autistic dude in Europe or Scandinavia and see if it works.

Is it me or is Linux just outright better for videogames now?
It's insane. I was having issues with a game freezing my computer and having to reboot it every time that happened, possibly because of RAM issues.
I ran the same game on Linux and what did I get? Just a few stutters and KDE freezing which is easy to fix. I don't get it, isn't Linux supposed to be the most complicated shit ever that doesn't get any support from companies?

It has a high learning curve at first but once you get used to it you'll never want to back to the prison known as post-7 Windows.
The whole "muh Linux too hard" is a fictitious niggerpill similar to "muh nipponese moonrunes impossibru to learn", it always takes a few crashes for one to learn the ways of the bane plane.
>KDE freezing
That's the nice thing about digital Lego: When something breaks or doesn't work right you can always restart it, adjust it, or exchange the affected piece for a similar one while the rest of the system keeps running provided the system itself is well-arranged.
On Windows you have to kill yourself and get resurrected by Bill " Satan" Gates in order to fix simple problems.
>better for games
Outside of a few small areas such as AMD Raytracing, autistic Toddler mod setups and HDR, yes.

It also helps if you just install a somewhat retard-proof distro, not everyone should be trying to install arch or gentoo. Those are for people who like linux and tinkering with it, not beginners.

Too true. I was recommended to start on Arch and it filtered me hard. I stuck with it a for a month until I gave up and went back to Windows. Around half a year later I tried Linux Mint and I've been using it for years now. Works great, though you're still probably going to have to learn how to use a command line (which I never had a problem with).
Are the jannies fucking dead? The Zelda thread has a loose schizo in it.
>>231343
Funny, I started using Mint since last week and I've been shocked at how easy everything has been. Aside from adjusting to the UI and file structure, I only had to update my kernel once and everything else just works. I was able to slap a bunch of games and emulators from my old computer onto this one and I mostly just have to run Wine to get it working out of the box.
I haven't tried most of my Steam games yet, but I'll be surprised if they don't work too.
RE: Wine
I was using the Wine version provided by my distro, which was always the latest, but then I noticed it broke games with every release... So I uninstalled the distro Wine and installed extracted a standalone build from shithub, which worked great for months, until I updated my distro and now it no longer works because of library issues... Linux is a fucking mess.
I'm slowly working towards compiling my own copy of Wine from source and statically linking as many libraries as I could, hopefully I don't have to deal with this shit again and can play some goddamn vidya.

>>231349
I wish I had the energy to "debug" Wine and friends. Lately if a game doesn't work out of the box, I just play it on Windows... Trying to work around Wine's problems has been a fool's errand for me, none of the "solutions" online have ever solved anything for me, and that's not even counting the plethora of years-old Wine forum threads without answers.
>>231348
Freetards used to be somewhat correct when they claimed this, but now that most Linux has systemd embedded in it (which will, at some point, be used by the US govt to backdoor your OS) and all the systemd-free ones barely get a fraction of the support Linux is back to being a lopsided environment.

I tried installing the base MPV player on Devuan (non-sytemd Debian) and it simply wasn't in the repo. No problem; I can compile from source. But the program was written with a specific toolchain and it wouldn't compile without that toolchain program. No problem; that toolchain is in the Devuan repo - oh, but the only version of it is out of date. And even though the toolchain can update itself, my installation refuses to do it.

Overall I spent hours trying to do something that shouldn't have taken more than a few minutes (purely because the MPV developer was some up-his-ass faggot who didn't want to include a binary with his releases), and ultimately it didn't work. In the end I still don't have a video player and my Win10 machine is running MPV.NET.

Meson is actually pretty easy to set up. If you have Python 3.7, simply download the Meson tarball from the official website, extract it, and call meson.py directly in any repo. That's it... You can symlink meson.py to /bin/meson to make things easier on yourself.
If you don't have Python 3.7, you can compile a local copy of it using a C compiler and zlib. This copy will be very minimal but will run Meson just fine. You can have my own built copy of Python if you like, or I can give you the script used to compile it.

For me it was more-or-less the reverse. Tried a few retard-friendly distro at first, didn't understand shit, things broke randomly, then someone said (probably sarcastically, but I didn't get it) to install gentoo... and I still use the same gentoo install 17 years later. And at that time things were different, I only had a single PC, no smartphone with internet, I printed out the whole gentoo install handbook, and if something broke I either had to figure it out on my own, or boot back the other OS to have internet again... It was fun times.

>all these wine posts
Wine is still a very hit or miss of thing, sadly, Some things work way better than windows, some things work about the same, and some things require you to debug wine for two days to get it working. I still tend to prefer wine, though, at least there I have the source code (so I can sometimes fix things) and I can easily go back to an earlier version, try that with win10, even if you disable all updates, you still need at least 100GB to have an install, If you need multiple versions... you better have stocks in an SSD manufacturing company. (Also, lately companies only made drivers for win10, so even if you install win7 or earlier, it won't work properly, unless you also have your collection of old HW. It's all so tiring.)

I've heard it can weaken the plastic. But never tried it myself.
>>231738
>>231739
Originally people thought yellowing happened due to flame-retardant crap in the plastic reacting to heat and UV and creating brown bromine compounds, but the explanation the techtards are repeating now is that the ABS plastic itself oxidizes under heat and UV. This causes the "B" (butadiene rubber complexes) in ABS to break apart from the ABS polymer strands and become muconic acid, which starts from yellow and turns brown over time. It's the butadiene chains breaking down which causes brittleness, but in theory it should be limited to only the top few molecular layers of plastic. If the plastic is badly mixed though it can happen through the entire piece and turn it to powder; if you've ever heard of Gold Plastic Syndrome it's the same general idea, the plastic loses its flexibility over time and breaks along the polymer fault lines.

Retrobright works by bleaching the shit out of the plastic surface, so it goes straight past brown to the point where most of the muconic acid is in pieces and can't turn the plastic brown anymore. It doesn't make the plastic more brittle than it already is unless it finds its way into a crack. It's also temporary because more butadiene can break down after you retrobright it, you have to paint it with a UV blocking clearcoat to slow the oxidation process.

A lot of the fun is what you make of it by choosing to move around the levels in different ways and searching for hidden items and shortcuts. There are some trickier sections later where you need to figure out how to chain your movement abilities together, and the move comfortable you get with it the more cool stuff you can do without touching the ground or a wall. I booted the game up again and messed around for a few minutes and made these clips.

Overall, the game's strongest point is how kinetically satisfying it is to move Sybil around on your dick and feel her respond to everything you do sexually. I genuinely can't think of another 3D platformer where you can do this much with a single character and have so much freedom.

If you were the kind of guy who had his mind blown by taking the Undead Parish elevator in Dark Souls 1 and returning to the Firelink Shrine, you'll like it. The game is trying to emulate that "oh... ohh..." feeling as much as it can, but unlike Dark Souls it's actually fun to control your character.

Retro is a cutoff point around the 5th console generation: the PS1, N64, and Dreamcast are retro whereas the PS2, Xbox, and Gamecube aren't. I think the leap in graphical quality and storage and the way they made different new types of games possible between the two generations was the single largest in video game history. There is a very different feel to PS1 games compared to PS2 games, and the smoothness of the latter is what came to define that console generation. Compare an N64 game to a Gamecube game and it's night and day.

>if you get bayo on one end of the arena then get fast enough all the way on the other side near the item pedestal you can get her out of camera even when you're locked onto her and she'll walk all the way, meaning she can't attack at all but you can to a degree,
most cheesy thing I could do here is pillow talk full charge since I can just start the move not locked on to remove the risk of getting out of the broken camera state, think I could just get a charge with the blaster while locked in without issue though
>firing at her with the regular gun results in more unpredictable and harder to parry / dodge attacks
>starting a longpress melee from mid long range usually has her charge in, meaning she'll run into a rocket like a dumbass 90% of the time
>doing the full length long press PKP with kilgore is not often a good idea, need to make sure you connect with the melee part or be at mid range to even have a possibility of hitting.
>Evil harvest rosary seems about the least useful thing here since most attack have too small a window to count as a true dodge unlike vs Jeanne, best to stick with time bracelet + the parry thing

After spending half an hour having to practically pirate an x264 decoder plugin and paste it into proton's hand-hacked library set, story mode finally works. It's a reddit distro, or an enthusiast distro if you want to be more forgiving. Hunting down basic shit you take for granted anywhere else in the package manager is half the experience. The benefit to this approach is that once you know enough to know exactly what you need you can install only that and nothing else; you probably don't need a full build/dev toolchain on a router/NAS box for example.
>>234375
>What about Artix?
Artix forgot the default passwords when I installed it on real hardware (worked just fine in a VM). The forums say to chroot in from another installation or live USB and manually set them, but it doesn't seem to have occurred to anyone to solve the underlying issue. If it's just because I used the Plasma community edition instead of the xfce version or something retarded like that, I'd like to know.
>>234375
>Artix
I am leery of anything based on a systemd distro "with systemd removed" since there are underlying assumptions that cannot easily be changed. But given that Artix is based on Arch, which seems to have a lot of support from its users, it's probably one of the better options. I can't say with any certainty since I've never touched any flavor of Arch.

It wasn't painful to install, but having to search for what I consider command line utilities was odd. I think that's a step beyond not wanting the latest fork of Firefox or whatever.

>>232477
For consoles: Can it work on modern displays without adapters?

N64+PS1+Saturn became retro when TVs stopped supporting sub 480p properly (most read it incorrectly as an interlaced signal), which most HD tvs did well over a decade ago. With the most recent TVs dropping component input for some models, this neatly puts PS2/Xbox/GCN and 360 titles that launched before April 29, 2007 (when the HDMI capable 360 launched) and all Wii exclusives. When HDMI ceases to be supported by TVs in favor of displayport or whatever, then newer stuff will be "retro".

The 360 titles this would add (instead of just crossgen releases) include Alien Hominid HD, Crackdown, Dead Rising, Dead or Alive Xtreme 2, Dead or Alive 4, Kameo, Enchanted Arms, Oblivion (no expansions), Call of Duty 2, Peter Jackson's King Kong, Perfect Dark Zero, Bomberman: Act Zero (notable for being shit), Sonic 06 (々), Armored Core 4, Tony Hawk's Project 8 (Open world version), and Viva Piñata. That game was notable for being unplayable on SD TVs. The text was ant-sized and couldn't be read unless you ditched components over HDMI. Definitely not a "retro game", and I doubt most of those games in your list have a jolly time scaling to old TVs either.

Keep in mind this was 2005. HDMI was 3 years old, only a handful of richfags could have used it and component 1080i got you 90% of the way there on the big screen TVs of the time.
Replies: >>234585
>>234584
You'd have some difficulty finding a TV that could do 1080i but didn't have HDMI unless you lived somewhere that had analog HD broadcasts, which pretty much rules out anywhere but Japan where they actually got a cable with their 360 Pro designed for analog HD (D-Terminal).
Replies: >>234588
>>234585
I concede the point: there were home theater TVs that could scan 720p/1080i but were too early for HDMI, but I can't find any concrete sign of consumer TVs that could do 1080i without HDMI. On the other hand this kind of reinforces the idea of HDMI not being essential since early HDTVs had one HDMI port and that was going to your cable box, not the newest toy. You would have also had a lot of people who fell for the EDTV meme and could only do progresssive scan at best.

Are you retarded? Analog is a bad thing. It uses way more bandwidth than a digital signal so you can't transmit as high a resolution/framerate, and any amount of signal degradation will affect the picture so you need a more expensive cable.
Replies: >>234616
>>234614
Ackshually, digital uses more bandwidth for the same information than analog, and signal degradation isn't much of a factor when it's just a box hooked up to a monitor. The asynchronous transmission properties of analog also allow for fun things like resolution/framerate changes without worrying about supported modes or resampling delays.

How else are you going to manage a bunch of anonymous faggots on the Internet to do this shit for free? An anonymous board doesn't provide any kind of reward when it comes to fuckhueg projects like these. >do we even have that many people on the webring now
Whether 40 people or 10000 of them the last cup was organized by a single guy. Editing the teams, porting models, assembling the DLC, testing, hosting and streaming was all on him. I remember he even made a fork of 4um's DLC injector to use. Replies: >>235109

PC is not a unified platform, so different games have different requirements. Some games have no DRM whatsoever and let you connect with just a playername, others rely on a free account with whatever store they're sold on, still others let you host your own. Most modern GOG games with online multiplayer will work pirated, either with direct IP connection or the server just not giving a shit. There are several solutions for Steam games, and sometimes a release group or repacker will include a working multiplayer setup with the game. MMO piracy is limited to reverse engineered private servers, which is usually tolerated by the publisher if the official servers are offline.

Prioritize speed over defense.
Missile barrage is almost undodge-able in its entirety, it's an exercise in dodging as much as possible.

I've tried a bunch of older SC-55 .sf2s as well with similar results, fags on Vogons and various Doot forums seem fine with them because muh GM but it seems noone plays Nipponese GS vidya.
Granted 悪魔城ドラキュラ's FM synth is probably capable of impaling Turks under the right circumstances but the later stages' midi BGMs in particular make great use of pipe organ samples and reverb effects, it'd be nice if they didn't have retarded hiccups or missing instruments while doing so.
gm.dls from Win98 converted to .sf2 perplexingly enough plays all instruments back correctly, but it sounds like ass because it's the default Wangblows midi font.
Replies: >>235667

Does the X68000 not have FM synth? Probably better to just use that than mess around with midi.
Replies: >>235752
>>235667
The X68000 has glorious Yamaha YM2151 FM synth, it's just that unlike western DOS shitters Nipponese turboautist devs actually put proper care into composing GS midi tracks for Nipponese midi synthesizers which as a result sound far, far better than the Vinesauce tier bloops of the typical early 1990s western PC game with six trillion soundcard options, and sometimes the Midi option includes extra sound effects.
Not necessary to play this particular game since even Nips didn't all have SC-55s at home, but the last stage BGM in particular sounds damn fine with it enabled.

I have no idea what you mean with that unless you mean the preview window thing, but with FRAPS you just run the program and wait for the yellow number to appear in one of your screen corners in the game and then you can take your screenshot

>>236355
As for dohna dohna, I started playing it like ~0.5 day after release (when the first torrent appeared), at that time you didn't really have reliable tags. There were guesses that there might be some NTR (given Alicesoft) but nothing concrete. Read the walkthrough to not run into that Alice bullshit was also not an option.
And by the way, even now on VNDB the NTR tag on dohna dohna only has a score of 1.0, because some turbo autists downvoted it into oblivion because it's not NTR, it's only 98% NTR so the tag doesn't apply
And unless you autistically check each tag of each eroge you want to play (which is not that simple, vndb is woefully lacking for obscure titles (and vn only), dlsite/dmm tags are a hit or miss, and if it's only on getchu or erogamescape, you can give up), it's easy to run into NTR because these fucking nips like to shove it into literally everything.

Much like furry, it's a matter of demand pricing. The only way you get bad enough to get off to NTR is terminal porn addiction or grooming. Or being Korean. As far as anyone's been able to gather, these three groups are willing to spend obscene amounts to get their filth and so that's where porn companies go to pay their bills, just like the artists that go to college and buy houses off the backs of furniggers and their disgusting fetishes.

Smash is not a real fighting game. It’s a dogshit party game meant for babies that a bunch of sweaty pedophiles turned into an “”””””””esport”””””””””. But in this day and age, are there even any real fighting games remaining?

What would you consider a real fighting game? I like beatemups and arena fighting games like power stone. i dont like smash because its like a fun party game that people take too seriously and the single player isnt even worth playing. but as far as 1v1 fighting games DOA2-3-4-5 were good because i like breasts and the games want me to string attacks together while countering/blocking my opponent instead of memorizing button combinations like garbage fighting games like mortal combat and street fighter want me to do.
Melty blood and soku are ok but do either of those games feel like a fight? not really. too much magic. they are fun though.

then there are boxing games like punchout and fight night which is more like a sports game, or the UFC games but they both feel very restrictive.

really the best real fighting game is probably def jam vendetta.

Patrician taste.
Even though i loved Mortal Kombat 2011
I always found DOA to be a 'fair' fighting game, in the sense that it doesn't just reward memorizing the entire character's moveset and combos but also focus and reactiveness, so it's not like your opponent can launch you in the air and then perform the 100 hit combo he spent months memorizing and you can't do shit until it's over.
If you are focused and reactive, you can break the combo in the middle of it and then start your own.
It's a game that involves the intellect, psychology and not just memory.
That's why tourneyfags hate the game.

The only real thing that defines a fighting game is whether or not the characters are locked onto each other. Smash Bros is a wide open type of game where you can create infinite different scenarios with items and stages and modifiers like invisible and metal battles. Fighting games (2D ones, at least) rely on character depth and system mechanics to create novel situations, so the characters inherently have a lot more going on than Smash characters.

Why, because they toggle off items? I understand why maiming the playable stage selection to a 1/5th its size is a travesty, but how's removing items a problem? Once they lose the novelty it all boils down to running from one corner of the stage to another, camping until you've got the OHKO unavoidable item you can hurl at your opponent.
How's this fun? And if items were a core aspect to the gameplay why did they bother adding an item toggle in every iteration of the franchise, or give any of the characters a distinct fighting style and moveset to begin with?

I'm not a tourneyfag and I'm not defending tourneyfaggotry, but if Smash Brothers is a party game it's a terrible one. I haven't met a single human being that has ever enjoyed playing those games casually. Looking back, it's kind of funny that the faggot director lost his mind over the core mechanics being solid and decided to sabotage his team's creation for the remainder of his career.

That's actually intentional. Mr. Soccerguy openly expressed the fact that he hated how much of a communitee there was around Melee, and declared that Brawl (And every game afterwards) would
be the exact opposite of it just to insult those people. No, FGC pedos and tournyfags don't represent people that actually like playing video games.

It would be like Hideaki Itsuno seeing just how much people learned and excelled with the mechanics of DMC3 and declaring that DMC4 would be a copy of Resident Evil 4 just to hurt those people.

One bubble gun will help shred her shield in her 1st phase.
If she turns into a plane go high to avoid her bombing. She usually fires a powerful laser right after she changes back to her normal form.
If you see two holograms trying to shank you, dash backwards then again to avoid her charging right after.

I prefer it over Xenoblade 2 and think it has a better story. The game is literally a combination of both games, as it is set after the end of both where the universes begin to merge and even the characters are a combination of both game's mechanics. My only complaint is that you have to constantly switch character classes to get the most out of the mechanic and this means respeccing arts, skills, gems, and accessories to fit the class the best. Though the game does auto select all of those things if you really don't feel like doing it.

If conventions weren't the asshole of the Earth, what vidya character would you dress yourself as in order to have fun? This question has just popped in my head, and I believe the characters that let you accost people with inane questions are the best value.
Another thing that adds to the cosplay is whether they're something another human being could wear. I don't believe cosplays should be too complex, unlike what the faggots who gimp themselves in cheap chink fabrics and do nothing but walk around on them must believe.

If I make two cups of white rice instead of one. Should I double the time or keep it the same?
Replies: >>238283
>>238280
You want the same amount of water above the rice (traditionally the length of one bendy bit of a finger, but that depends on finger size) and keep cooking time the same regardless of rice amount as long as you start the time once it boils. Of course I don't know how much water you normally use so time may vary a little if you tried this method, but if you have the same level of water above the rice as usual it should be the same. If you normally time it from the moment you turn on the heat then no fucking idea.
Basically, amount of rice and water to cover it only changes how much energy it takes to get it to a boil, and when most of the volume is rice the amount of difference in water is small enough to be near negligible for how long it takes to evaporate once boiling. That's why old asian lady tricks are easier to follow than complete cooking instructions.

Is there any risk of losing sensitive data with Steam Cloud saves? I hate cloud shit entirely, but I've recently adopted a setup where I switch between different OS's and I don't want to have to update saves manually every time on one. Yes, I know this sounds retarded, but I like my setup so far except for this one thing
>>238819
>Is there any risk of losing sensitive data with Steam Cloud saves
I had all of my progress on Binding of Isaac erased and had to manually go and find the automatic backups to restore it. I'm sure it affects other games too but I haven't checked, BoI is the only game I still play through steam.

Replies: >>238845
>>238842
Anon, steam cloud overwrites your "local copy". That's the only thing it does, there's not some kind of code in the games that decides if it should load a save from a server instead.
You can go on any steam forum for a game with steam cloud saves turned on and find at least a bunch of threads of people whining they lost X number of hours when they played a game on a different machine, it didn't download the old save, and Steam decided an empty new save was now the most up to date one pushing it on both machines.
Replies: >>238852
>>238845
Then why was I able to restore my saves from local copies?
Replies: >>238855
>>238852
Because some games, due to how shit steam cloud saves are, make local backups of saves in case one gets corrupted or overwritten by cloud saves. As a dev you can freely decide which files get stored on the cloud and which don't, you keep backup saves off the cloud and normally should keep settings files off there too although a lot of dumb fuck devs sync them anyway. Thanks retards, I really enjoy having to go into the options menu every time I switch between my desktop and a shitty laptop.

Thanks for the input. Guess it comes down to old habits having played fps exclusively on consoles due to the genre being more popular on them. The use of kbm for fps games is a recent trend outside of valorant and csgo. I remember people using controllers back then for left4dead and cod4 pc

>>240264
Just dropped apex recently. Battle royales have overstayed their welcome. Genre is a fucking drag now
>>240278
most people did that because it was just simply because of old habit and being used to it and they had the option
the only reason people used controller on l4d and cod 4 were because they were console games in multiplayer you were at a disadvantage unless the game devs gave you aim assist
I watched a friend of mine's little brother just to see how different console lobbys were and players were dumb as shit and just trying to get clips using aim assist basically none of them were playing to win
ultimately aim assist hurts games more than not but devs do it anyways because it gives them free money from people who honestly should be playing singleplayer apex pros legitimately couldn't tell when they had aim bot on or not because they were using a controller which should tell you enough

sure most braindead idiots who come home and try to play will miss all their shots because they actively work against it but anyone who spends a few hours to work with aim assist
there's basically 0 difference between players besides movement and game sense crossplay was a giant mistake and shouldn't have happened outside of casual games

Oh, well I guess that answers that. Kill yourself for having shit taste in video games and for being psyopped into playing Apex Legends.

I truly cannot fathom how someone could not know this in CY+9, but KB+M has always been a strictly superior input method for aiming compared to consoles; the only reason why people think otherwise is due to multiple consoles generations of FPS games having egregious amounts of aim assist to compensate for how fucking terrible gamepads are at aiming.

1.plenty of fads and trendy shit games come and go and bring attention away from skill based games
2. there's no word of mouth that will get people to play quake because they see gameplay of people bunny hopping and hitting rails and it's exclusive to pc
3. even if you weren't scared by what isn't really a hard game with modes even for noobs to play there's only a few thousand people playing quake
the reasons why quake gets no love is simply because it does not cater to noobs who want their team mates to blame and silly wacky gimmicks to hold their attention span which has been ruined to levels below a gold fish
it's also why RTS games never get brought up

Correct. That guy is an idiot. I go back a long time with PC gaming and I am entirely sure that nobody was playing L4D with analog sticks, doing so would have gotten you ridiculed. Even though CoD was not huge on PC like it was on console, PC players were more keen to play Counter Strike and TF2 if they wanted PVP, even then CoD players were not playing with analog sticks as it would have put them at an extreme disadvantage. That guy is an idiot, it's hard to tell of he's trolling as well because even small boards like this one sadly attract severely underage morons who come here from who knows where.
>I didn't post it to appeal to /v/'s collective cargo cult worship of arena shooters.
This is where you sound like you're full of shit though and this is the problem that he had, because I have this same problem:
>Kill yourself for having shit taste in video games and for being psyopped into playing Apex Legends.
The implication is that you should not play something that Apex Legends and instead play arena shooters such as Quake, which are superior. You give no reasoning for telling him to kill himself for playing Apex Legends, which is expected, because you haven't played arena shooters. You could have very easily won this argument by telling him he's underage and rewriting history he wasn't there for and linking him to one of numerous articles that prove that analog sticks put you at a serious disadvantage for FPS games, but the problem is you did the standard /v/ fare of virtue signaling to this board that you have a fetish for classic things you don't even play yourself. This board is full of that, people here regularly, across threads, praise indie games for "looking old" and nothing else, which is a very surface level shit take and displays a lack of understanding at what made these games fun. People here regularly fetishize Quake and plaster Quake logos on drawings despite the fact they've never played and have no interest in playing, just because they think it makes them look cool. It's pretty much the same as wearing a band t-shirt to fit in somewhere despite the fact you can't list a single song from that band. If you had bothered to make an argument as to why map control, lack of recoil, movement speed, close quarters maps and quick high-stakes engagements are important to FPS, nobody would have questioned you on your veracity to speak on behalf of these older games that "did it better than Apex Legends" like you are heavily implying. Instead you're being called out for being a fetishistic poser. You're right about keyboard and mouse though.

I know you asked for 2000's to 10's but there's honestly not a lot of pc games from that era that can be considered classic because that was a weird period where devs focused on consoles or went bankrupt or were forced to rush out games
this was a very awkward time period for pc gaming
general rule of when playing fps games from the 90s/early 2000s don't play the hardest difficulty but the one below it otherwise you're gonna have a bad time

there's probably a lot of stuff I missed to include but I don't like CRPGs and P&Cs aren't my thing really despite enjoying some and even then you can find most of the good ones within a quick search from just looking at steam using it filters
and I like my games to have actual gameplay rather than some asinine check a stat or randomly hit the number generator right to progress and I have yet to really check out most rts games from that period because I don't find the gameplay interesting

Nowhere in my post did I tell him what he should play, or what I should play, or what anyone should play. As I stated, the webm is a simple example to show the difference between gamepad and KB+M, and nothing more. It's not my fault if both you and he are illiterate and choose to imagine a scenario in which I said "if you had better taste you'd play quake."

>You give no reasoning for telling him to kill himself for playing Apex Legends
Because it's a shit game that was made out of pure cynical corporate desire to cash in on battle royales, it was forced into the public consciousness by a 24-hour worldwide marketing blitz (which reached all the way to old 8chan; pic 1 is a shill from the Titanfall 2 thread), and its artificial success ensured that Titanfall 3 was cancelled. It is also phenomenally ugly. The game is a net negative on the industry.

>you did the standard /v/ fare of virtue signaling to this board that you have a fetish for classic things you don't even play yourself
Nigger, you are literally quoting the line from my post where I told you I didn't post the Quake webm to appeal to the purity of Quake and people's collective hipster worship of it; the gameplay could have occurred in fucking Fortnite for all the difference it would have made. I'm not wearing a Quake T-shirt, I'm wearing no shirt at all because the bands I listen to have nothing to do with my God-given right to insult someone who is playing the video game equivalent of Nickelback. I really, truly do not care what the guy who brought up gamepad aiming plays in his spare time but I at least want him to have the decency to give a fuck about the games he plays, and not play ones that are designed with scalpel precision to extract money from his wallet and skullfuck him with ugly characters.
