>what's this?
From the fucking disgusting people who brought you a very shitty DOS Sonic fangame back in 1998, play in this DooM mod very unique kart racing game where you plunge into chasms and barge into walls. Choose your racer from a wide array of shitty meme characters made by 12 years old join my Discord server at https://dicksuck.cum/invite/g4yN1gg3r5, on tracks made by the fucking geniuses who thought building complex 3D geometry on an engine that renders 2D sprites was a good idea. Trannies don't deserve human rights.

On the flipside, the karting's serviceable, the items are decently balanced and the server linked in this OP contains none of the gay shit described above. There can be some fun derived from this kusoge even if the paragraph above reads the contrary.
>is this game fun?
In spite of what's said above it is indeed a moderately fun game. Try it out if you might.
>is this server related to that other server back from Summer?
No. This is a vanilla server that's running a bunch of new racetracks, some custom characters and not much else. It bears no relation to the >people that populated that one server, so please give this one a go if that one's warped your perception on the game.

>how can I download this game?
You will need both the game's files and the addon pack that the server's running in order to run it.
<GAME: https://github.com/STJr/Kart-Public/releases/tag/v1.6
<ADDONS: https://pixeldrain.com/u/f7t9i3Zv
To install the game on Windows:
Head over to the first link, download srb2kart-v16-Installer.exe then install the game on whichever location you've chosen. Afterwards, move to the game's root folder, create a subdirectory named addons then dump the contents from the ADDONS zip inside of it.
To install the game on Linux:
You'll have to download both the source code and AssetsLinuxOnly.zip in order to compile the Linux executable. Otherwise, just refer to this guide here: http://wiki.srb2.org/wiki/Source_code_compiling which worked for me by summoning cmake /path/to/source/code from a different folder to the source code's, then typing in make inside said folder.
Once you've got the working Linux binary, head over to your user's /.srb2kart folder then extract the contents from the ADDONS .zip listed above inside the addons/ folder. Create this folder in case it doesn't exist already.
>is this a virus?
I'm not sure. It can be said the dev team's HIV positive though.

The server's IP's located at 198.98.58.112. Gamenight will begin Friday 1st at no one bothers following the schedule, just join in at a time you expect faggots to be playing in.

I'd like trying out the server firsthand before Friday. I've never hosted this game before and all I've done over the base game is set kartspeed to 2 and activate restat.
For the record I've tried playing a few tracks and I'm not falling into a pit every 5 seconds, which makes me believe I've done something wrong.
Another think I'd like to add is there aren't all that many custom characters in the server. I've gone through the cancer that's this game's forums and I believe this game desperately needed the in-game equivalent to chemotherapy.
The only thing I regret not adding much of were 2hus. From memory the ony one that's in the server's Cirno. I'd change it, but then there's the inconvenience of having to load every addon on startup by hand because the script doesn't work, so most likely things will stay that way for the remainder of the gamenight.

Last thread was a shitshow because it wasn't a gamenight, it was a 4um tourist linking the OP to his Discord circlejerk server and calling it a day. The outrage was justified, and a proper ZZZ karts gamenight overdue.
>there are two gamenight threads up at the same time
The other thread's already dead in the water considering the game choice being some shoddy Unity FotM garbage; the need to use an Steam account, and the OP apparently sucking up to some Discord buddy or some shit if you read through the thread. I doubt that one will warrant much attention now that there's another gamenight if any.

Those are terrible as well. Like I've said, do you really need all of this audiovisual clutter to enjoy the game?
What's been bugging me here are the server desyncs, all 4 of them I'd suffered last evening. Do you know any mod that fixes those, or makes the game less unstable?
I've seen multiple SRB2K builds floating around as well. Are these more stable than the v1.6 build currently on github?

This seemed alright from what I played on it. The other builds are unnecessary and made by cuckchanners to increase the player count from 16 to 32.
>What's it worth to track kills on a fucking kart racer?
Personally, I think it gives more feedback on what's going on in the track. I'm pretty sure there's a way to disable the domination shit, but I forgot how. No need to add this one if you don't want to, however.

>I think it gives more feedback on what's going on in the track
Only people who need feedback on whether an object hit or not is whoever threw it. Displaying that information to anyone else on the track's already lost on them.
From what I've played, what's already on screen and looking at the minimap is enough feedback for the player, and I believe thi game benefits from less information on screen.

I was busy today, but I did try to assemble a new pack with more characters/maps. I haven't posted it yet, since I've just logged in and you can't throw them hastily in the middle of the gamenight then shut down the server to update it.
The real issue here is that the normal, vanilla maps are not in rotation. addfile maps.kart is redundant, since the server's already loaded them, but they don't feel like appearing either.

I admittedly don't like this game very much, but I'm not trying to self-saboutage myself.

Seriously? Are you talking about the characters or the maps? The former might make sense since I've removed plenty of characters from many character packs that I thought had either garbage sprites or were shitty meme choices that would have no place to be in a kart racer. If you look at the .zip I've posted in the thread you'd see the botch job I'd done here, with otherwise plentiful character packs being reduced to one or two sprites, the rest being removed with 7zip.
Aren't .pk3 just .zip files? Could I unzip every character, compress them inside a new .pk3 then shit would just werk? From what I've seen the 4/vm/ server had three .pk3 for pretty much all characters.

>a somewhat curated map collection
I've been comparing both the old gamenight .zip and the new one and they share a lot of circuits in between. The real problem is that the vanilla maps don't show up, which means rotation is exclusively on the custom maps. No idea why, but truth be told there's one .wad here caled KartRev that makes some modifications to the base tracks. Don't know whether removing it will fix it but it may be worth a try.

Since you faggots aren't cutting me any slack I've rearranged the server's wads and added some mods you niggers may find pertinent.
I have no idea what I've truly added, but from what I can tell there's item rebalancing, horns and the item hitfeed >>226513 was complaining about.
Characters have been reassembled into 3 working .pk3, and a few more maps from the past gamenights .zip have been added, instead of deleting all new maps as some anons were asking for.
If shit still breaks I'll see whether to change the game's executable on Sunday to Saturn, contrary to >>226604's wishes.

I don't know, anon. I'd rather have one less character than risk the chance of faggots mixing up what to download and not being able to connect to the server.
No idea what happened there either, must've dismissed her character pack when reassembling everything. Was this the same Tamamo we're speaking of? https://mb.srb2.org/addons/eveys-character-pak.3629/ It's a pretty shitty pack overall, so no wonder I didn't even bother checking it.

Anon, there are files in that .zip older than the dawn of time, and I'm positive the server would be shitting the bed even if I exclusively used those files. The real issue here is that the vanilla binary's an unstable piece of shit that'll either crash or DC you like a bitch. https://github.com/Indev450/SRB2Kart-Saturn/releases/tag/v4 here was a good idea for a replacement, which is what I'll do tomorrow.

OP here. First and foremost, sorry about this weekend. Apparently the $7 server I had rented and all 2GBs of RAM it used wasn't enough to handle a Doom mod with 7 people on, and will be something I won't be able to fix in what remains of the weekend. Hopefully this'll serve as a warning to future hosts that all [CURRENT YEAR] games need 32 GBs of RAM and an Intel Xeon CPU as minimum requirements to meet to run on your dedicated server.
As an apology for the Karts fiasco, given we've still got all of Sunday, I've restarted the KF server here >>223223, and I'll likely not host in a long time. Again, sorry for the inconveniences. Let's all hope someone more skilled in hosting picks up the weekends from hereon.

>>226777
I havn't joined this weekend so I dont know how much crap you added to it, but I have hosted in the past.
I'm not sure how much you've tested it but increasing the amount of mods (especially driveable characters) can really affect performance. There is a soft cap for how many extra characters you can add. You can increase this cap by adding those bundles of characters that only requires an additional file.

I tested this myself by hosting vanilla and checking performance after logging into my own game, then adding mods and testing. then start removing mods/characters 1 at a time starting with my least favorite, for me there was a certain point where it suddenly was as fast as vanilla and it was only after removing maybe 5 characters

Not sure if this will help you but it's worth checking.
Replies: >>226862
Well I got a nasty surprise. It turns out I can't play any of the replays for this game night because of the changes made to mods and I have no clue what versions I need. Wonderful.

Did we get a list of maps and characters that worked? Any tips on hosting?
>>226860
in my personal opinion everything worked fine (except for one or two actually unknown stages that wouldn't load some sprites), it was just the load the server took (look here >>226798 ) that caused d/cs.
though i vote to remove or at least carefully curate the mayro kart tracks, this game is 2fast for most of them
>>226860
My biggest tip would be don't use the latest shitty versions and instead use the version 1.3 that was used in the previous game nights. All the recordings of the maps I made all are incompatible with other versions, and because of the change in mods from day to day the replays wont load the mods properly on 1.6 now.
