It's all about making a habit out of studying and maintaining your pace. No need to rush or cram but don't slack either. If you can make a hobby out of it, you can turn the tedious studying into something fun. It's also good to give yourself a break for a day to two so you don't burn yourselves out. In a few months you might be good enough to read a children's manga and retro games without constantly look up words/kanji. With enough work you'll be enjoying anime raws, visual novels, drama CDs, and JP history literature.

- Get Genki 1 and Genki 2 textbooks, if you are a native English speaker (if not, get the recommended book in your native language) this is important
- Start with kana (hiragana and katakana). Write them on paper, too. Remember the stroke order! it's easier to learn them and this helps with kanji, too
- Dictionary https://jisho.org/ (or http://nihongo.monash.edu/japanese.html)
- https://www.imabi.net/ and https://guidetojapanese.org/learn/grammar
- Rōmaji sucks and there are at least 2 ways of doing it
i cant
