I don't really like this specific line of images because they're always gross and filled with nomenclature like "chad" and "stacy" but the wojaks with more effort than usual put into them have always be interesting to look at. Oh well, it had its time, and they're only mspaint anyway.

Took the first key for Mystery Game 1. T-Thanks, anon, I would've preferred if you shit in my Christmas stocking instead; the experience would be less eye-watering. Have a photo of the chicken box I had in Nipland for Christmas. There wasn't a long queue when I came to pick up my order at the allotted time; then again, I'm in a small village where the KFC had recently opened. Overall, this is the most I've ever paid for KFC in my entire life, but I would rank the experience comfy/10.

I forgot japan has some bizarre KFC christmas tradition. Sounds like something people would make up as banter against obese burgers. Nips are fucking weird.

I asked some of the locals about where it came from. Most seemed to agree it was because of the Japanese love of American movies. They tend to be a few decades behind America in regards to its cultural trends, so in the 70s and 80s, they were watching classic Christmas movies like "It's a Wonderful Life" with Jimmy Stewart and the like. A constant trope they saw was a family sitting down for a Christmas dinner with turkey and they wanted to experience it for themselves. Unfortunately, Japan does not have turkeys, so a dinner with chicken was the next best thing. In a masterstroke of advertising, KFC in the 80s ran with the advertising slogan 「クリスマスにはケンタッキー!」- "Kentucky for Christmas!" It was so successful that it became a tradition for family and romantic couples and other businesses, like Famimart or Lawson, started copying the trend of offering southern fried chicken for Christmas. The demand was so great that I had to put in the order 2 weeks in advance, and even then the expensive items, where you'd get a shrimp casserole and a berry tiramasu, were already sold out. This place really doesn't seem real at times.

A tradition of fried chicken is one thing, but to have it be tied to a corporation is retarded. Just make your own fried chicken.

Welcome to Consumerism in Japan. Weirdly enough, it is sometimes cheaper to buy prepared food than it is to buy the ingredients and make it at home, such is the cost of raw materials and utilities here.

It's certainly a possibility. Sony has recently earned the moniker "Ku-Sony" because of its censorship faggotry. Even then, it still has movies and music propping it up, so it won't completely die if the gaming section goes bust.

Evening, gonna hijack this thread to promote music tomorrow. Come listen to songs and hang out. >>8803 will get a mention as well in the announcements thread.
>There will be a Christmas radio on anon.cafe/christmas featuring music (Christmas and non-Christmas) from prolikewoah/animu, smuglo.li (probably, working out the details with that DJ), and anon.cafe/l
>Music stream will happen on the 18th of December from 9AM Saturday American West Coast to roughly 9PM or later (5PM Saturday to 5AM Sunday GMT/UTC, or 2AM Sunday to 2PM Tokyo time)
>There will be a separate games thread for anons who want to play games, with servers and hosts edited into the OP since the goal is for anons to socialize and enjoy themselves- OJ, EDF, and Veloren are probably on the books right now.
>You can make your own lobbies for the games thread without being tied to a board, but it's a good chance to advertise your board
>Feel free to make an advertising thread promoting your board. If you want to have a fun activity attached, that is also welcome!
Replies: >>8954

I was under the impression it had more to do with KFC advertising it as a Christmas tradition rather than the Japanese buying into it. Suppose it doesn't matter when the end results are the same.
