I nearly understood the metaphorical speaking the first time before the episode was over and wanted to attack Troy for not getting it as a magic empath person that can literally have thoughts beamed into her head. How could she fail so hard? They could have brought up the alien's age to make it make more sense as if they were super old then it'd make sense that their grammar was based on things people had done and or places involving them, events, as otherwise teaching your children would be kinda hard without more basic talking rather than implications unless they are very old creatures that just already know what they are thinking due to having been alive for so long and are cognitively brain damaged due to it, genetic memory notwithstanding. Picard teaching the thing his own story was weird to me as he should not be able to understand implying that it's unethical or something to speak properly and truly gramatically within their race as when the story is told the first time you must either already know it or indeed use normal grammar during the telling, elsewise did they use picture books or something? If so, why not use that rather than transport them into some planet? It was bad writing, not that I can write a good story. Blah blah in winter!
