>play Gravity Circuit since the devs made it free on Steam for a bit
>normal mode is pitifully easy
>hard mode is just an increase in enemy damage and health
>hard mode has two modifiers: remixed levels and different enemy behavior
>they're really fun but you can only use them with the extra damage of hard mode
Getting a little tired of random rocks falling on my head and killing me or making the boss unsafe to approach for 2-5 seconds at a time.
>>313997
I haven't beat the game myself on hard mode with all modifiers yet either but I found that playing like a pussy against bosses and doing hookshots far away is pretty solid even if it doesn't look cool. Catch Interrupt is a pretty good burst option if you are fast enough to know that you are about to get hit. It parries any incoming damage, returns 3 points of damage to the boss, and it even puts bosses in a tumbling state without giving them i-frames so you can combo it into another burst. It's basically defensive Flying Strike with upside.

I looked up some strats and learned two things: you can simply grapple on top of the rock pillars to avoid them easily, and while hopping is significantly faster than chaining attacks normally. Also, never stop running. Also, stunlock the boss whenever you can to limit his screen pollution.

Apparently Wheel Man Bit, the Shift Circuit is the easiest boss in the game so I'm going to take him on. Don't know what his stage will look like, or what his remixed attacks will look like.

The issue with these remixed master levels is they are only available on hard mode, which roughly doubles all damage dealt and gives enemies +1 hit taken (at minimum; perhaps more for bigger enemies). If I could have normal mode damage numbers and the remixed levels/enemy behavior then it'd be perfect. As it is, the first level and boss were fucking miserable but each subsequent one will be easier because I'll be collecting health and energy upgrades.

The soundtrack is absolutely worth $5 USD, and you can get it on Bandcamp easily ( https://dominicninmark.bandcamp.com/album/gravity-circuit-original-soundtrack ).

>>314003
Your base moveset and speed are already incredibly OP so I wanted to do a challenge run and not acquire any chips or burst techniques - especially the latter because you can easily stunlock bosses by juggling them with the uppercut chip several times. It's very cheesy.
>dark souls parry breaks 2D platformer combat
You don't say. Thanks, Finland.

>>314013
>How solid is the level design?
Probably the unequivocal best part of it. Both the regular levels and the remixed master levels are fun to play through, and the latter are a steep but welcome difficulty upgrade from the normal levels. Each level has 8 civilians to rescue, a health/energy upgrade to find, and a palette swap that gives you game-breaking powers like a hoverpack or phasing through certain walls.

I'm happy that I got it for free. Its current price is on the higher end for indie games but I'd say it's worth it if you like MegaMan and are annoyed Capcom has abandoned the series for no reason. There isn't a lot of story or character dialogue outside of the hub base (aside from an exposition dump at the end which is quite clumsy) but the characters manage to have a lot of personality based on their designs.

Also, pretty robot woman.

Well, the devs had the good sense to make it free when they announced the sequel, so crusty pricks like me would at least give it a chance. I had teething pains but now I'm enjoying it enough to bash my head against the rest of the game. Can't fucking fathom what IWBTG nonsense the final level and boss will throw at me.

I have come to accept that these bosses were not designed to be fought with merely a single burst technique and no passive bonus chips. That's okay. I will simply persevere. Even the option to stunlock the boss with my default burst technique is insanely powerful, and now that I have 4 energy it honestly feels like the game would be incredibly easy to cheese. Medley was chaotic and unpredictable but became much easier once I realized she only has about 3 attacks and she can be hit while spinning.

On a different note, I've been experimenting with different codecs and bitrates. I encoded the Medley fight with SVT-AV1 and it reduced the filesize by about 20% (10.2 MB to just under 8 MB) without seeming to look like trash. But I tried the same thing with the fight against Wheel Man Bit and it looks significantly worse; it's really obvious when I deplete his first life bar and the red energy blobs float up.

Here's the Medley fight with default encoder settings and a bitrate of 800k.
`ffmpeg -ss 0 -t 88 -i '.\success.mp4' -s 960x480 -b:v 800k -b:a 128k -f webm success.webm`

The command for SVT-AV1.
`ffmpeg -ss 0 -t 88 -i '.\success.mp4' -s 960x480 -b:v 1000k -b:a 128k -vcodec libsvtav1 -f webm success2-libsvtav1-1000k.webm`

It encoded blisteringly fast compared to the default but I feel there's something I'm missing. The most coherent explanation for all this codec shit I've ever gotten was an anon advising me on how to compress gameplay of Penny's Big Breakaway into sub-30MB webms to share here, but I didn't save it. It feels like it shouldn't be complicated but all I really know how to do is mess with the resolution and video bitrate.

It's essentially the same thing but phrased differently. It's faster to find something usable, but if you can be bothered putting in the mathematics, then bitrate will get you exactly the filesize you're after.
Don't forget, you've often got the choice of CBR (Constant BitRate), ABR (Average) and VBR (Variable); C is the one which ensures every frame is the exact same size, A is the easiest to save filesize with since it saves when areas of the video are static, V uses both bitrate and CRF for the most complicated but exactly tuned

tl;dr use ABR and just divide the second of your video by the size you want to get the Average and Maximum kbps you stick in, if you want the best balance of time-spent : quality-&-compression-saved

>>314394
It's short for (C)bullshit-number (R)that (F)dictates-filesize-and-quality, and the long and short of it is that 30+ = too crusty / <10 = pointlessly large / 10-30 = what you'll be playing guesswork with as you repeatedly encode it until it's the size you want it because you're a dumb nigger that can't into basic mathematics.

Also, because of their tone system, the words in their songs are unintelligible and they must provide written lyrics for every song. Their backwards language would probably be best suited for something non-melodic like rap.
By the way, this is also why chinks are always screaming at each other. If they changed their intonation while speaking like normal humans do, the meaning of their words would get all messed up, so their only room for expression is speaking louder.

I've not really got a horse in this race, I'm pretty apathetic to the entire thing (both you defending your webm or others bitching about it), but having a large buttonlist doesn't equate to depth or complexity.
For example, Monster Hunter's most mechanically diverse weapon is the Chargeblade, but the breadth of it's complexity is just understanding how it's convoluted systems work to begin with (at which point you understand it's just maintaining charge on different parts of the weapon), leaving you to spam SAED's and at best scoring (relatively forgiving) Guardpoints (mid-animation guards during your own attacks).
On the converse, the most mechanically complex is a tossup between Greatsword and Hunting Horn depending on the title, the former of which is literally "Stand still and hold R2 for the next 4 seconds (and don't miss)" with an otherwise extraordinarily simple control scheme, the latter of which is an undertuned weapon with basically no complex inputs but has to intuitively and dynamically weave attack chains in a given pattern whenever an opportunity presents itself to play songs, which differ on a Horn-by-Horn basis (forcing you to relearn everything every time you get a new Horn). A special mention to the Sword and Shield, the Chargeblade's smaller but older brother, who also has a shallower moveset on paper, but requires more from the player in practice, since it demands more aggressive uptime with it's jack-of-all-trades versatility and use of it's minor repositional movements for less forgiving positioning to make up for it's tradeoffs in damage (leading to the CB playing more like an actual sword and shield, while the SnS is more like a dagger and buckler).
And that's not even getting into other genres (fightans with their handmangler inputs, comparing other action games etc). Just look at God of War 2's input list (a hack&slash notorious for it's lack of depth) https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/ps2/932295-god-of-war-ii/faqs/47625

Again, no input on the game itself; maybe it's being undersold, but a control sheet means nothing without the context it's used in, and what the Bread & Butter attack patterns of the moveset is.

Depends on the context. Basically if there's buttons left over that aren't mapped or are double-mapped and the motion input is simple (eg basic tilt input could just be mapped to a trigger+button combo), then yeah, even after hundreds of hours I'll occasionally scuff a basic tilt because "I didn't flick it hard / fast enough / on time", but for complex inputs where they actually bother giving you a moveset, nah you've gotta keep it on the stick. Sure a option for combo inputs on empty buttons in advanced fightans would still be nice, but it'd have to be gimped as fuck in some way and still require stick inputs or require a controller with a ton of underside buttons / paddles and be unintuitive as fuck.
That, and reward-inputs like an MK fatality can safely stay as complex as it wants to be; the context is just different.
Knew a musclehead guy who'd destroy controller joysticks because he'd basically rip em apart with stick motion inputs way too hard; probs not a problem these days with Halls & TMR sticks being more common, but I think he would have appreciated the above too for wallet reasons.

AC1 had significantly different combat and gamefeel to the streamlined later games; it leans way more "Assassin Simulator" than "Assassin Fantasy". I might have played it over a decade back but enemies do put up way more of a fight compared to every entry afterwards. Sure, they stand around a little bit and it's no Ninja Gaiden, but they were annoyingly bulky if you weren't oneshotting them with stealth / trying to counterspam, some were set to autoparry hard, ranged enemies would potshot you quick if you crutched on counterspam and if you jumped into a crowd there's a good chance you're a dead man depending on the level. The boss-targets whose gimmicks were setting an ambush on the assassin (IIRC the poison baron, the female executioner and the dude in the fort) weren't slouches until you could find some way to escape line-of-sight and chain-assassinate again and the sub-final boss being an enemy gauntlet in an open field to (I think? to reach Richard the Lionheart?) was actually pretty brutal and stumped me for a while as an underageb&.

>everything else was ubislop copy paste
It was literally the first game in a franchise from the Splinter Cell devs, and played nothing like it's closest predecessor, Prince of Persia. It wasn't a copypaste, it was what AC2 iterated on to become what every game after it copied and pasted. An observation you can only make in retrospect.

Dumb nigger you with your dumb nigger blithering (as usual).
An ARPG where you're an edgy assassin in the crusades was actually sold on false advertising that you're an edgy assassin in the crusades? Even if it wasn't (because it wasn't) it sounds like something (anything) else going for it to me (unique setting, unique premise, unique gameplay etc), but the aphantasic nigger mind on display here has somehow come to that conclusion.
How do you copy something that doesn't exist yet? Well.... I don't know, but your dumb nigger ass somehow does. Maybe you can copy an original thought of your own for once in your life using the same logic.
Why would you play seven (7) games in a repetitive series you hate? Well I don't know (I was bored by the second), but considering you're a dumb nigger who somehow has more time sunk into the franchise than me (the person defending it) (and my time with it when I was 10-14 years old, close to 2 decades ago), it doesn't take much to connect the dots.

Crazy how a dumb bum nigger like you found your way here. In front of me. And the person reading this.

Huh. Well in that regard I guess it's easy to see why AC2 was more popular. The increased ease of combat and less punishment for fucking up being stealthy (plus playing a charismatic Italian instead of an ugly guy with a big nose) must have appealed to a much larger crowd. Call me a dickhead but moves like these is why I can't get behind the new indie batch of retro platformers. These moves don't feel justified in giving you this much air momentum.
Mario in 64 dived in the air and gained no vertical gain from it, and all the big hoops came from a groud position. All of the gadgets from Ape Escape felt justified in-universe too in giving you speed or height. This game is metric tons better than Pseudoregalia but at its core it's still a game about some furry floating through the air like a dipshit.

Can't speak here since I chose Tomba over Klonoa since it seemed like the superior choice excluding game structure and music.

The game in >>315195 has an aesthetic and looks fun but the devs should've mulled over what causes the character to move, as dumb as it sounds. The bunny being propelled from the bomb's explosion would look more natural and pulling stunts more rewarding for the player, I think. Feels like it'd have a home in the music / soundtrack thread, but I don't know if I've got the self-absorbedness to make a new thread with it in the OP.
Also it seems the cunt devs tried to break the pirated copies of the game by releasing a tiny nontent patch that refuses to boot the game without steam runthrough if you patch it, which makes me not want to promote it because lmfao who's in charge here.

>This game is metric tons better than Pseudoregalia
Did Sybil stomp on your dick or something? I played the Bombun demo and it was so shallow and floaty that I couldn't get into it at all. Pseudoregalia can feel aimless and the metroidvania progression doesn't necessarily add much, but controlling Sybil's thick butt is so viscerally satisfying that it makes up for the game's shortcomings.

The only thing there is to do in Bombun is figure out which parts of the level actually need to be interacted with, and then optimize them down to essential parts. It's a game about cutting corners and cheesing past things, which is especially shameful considering it's made by a furry porn artist and I've come to expect games from them to be at least somewhat stimulating or experimental.
>>315222
>devs should've mulled over what causes the character to move, as dumb as it sounds
There's a line here between the "flow" of one game state to another, and the human logic of how speed is built, but they are interrelated topics and you make a good point. I personally imagine the Bombun character flinging the bomb down with such velocity that it propels her upwards a bit, but I have an easy time accepting and justifying things.

I recently watched part of a TAS breakdown for Super Mario 64, and as much as I think that game gets its dick ridden to a somewhat undeserved degree I must give credit to the developers who designed the interaction between barious limits on Mario's speed. Because SM64 Mario has a hard limit on the speed he can gain from his own moves (diving, long jumping) but not from jumping, interacting with the environment is much more relevant. If Mario runs down a slope and builds up speed, he can preserve it with a jump, whereas a dive would set his speed down to a lower value.

There isn't any tension like this in Bombun because diving is about the fastest the character can move without using a boost hoop, so there's much less reason to care about the environment in any way.

Before the janny anchors the thread for you posting these, I want to say that the online effort to try and "take over" (i.e. not cower in fear of the hordes of lunatics gnashing their teeth that someone would dare to call a guy a guy) has at least been very fun to watch as it gains momentum.
It's also very funny that the route where you mindbreak the doe out of her illusions of being a lesbian is almost unambiguously the most popular aspect of the game, and has lead to dozens of the most deliciously edgy-romantic illustrations being made.

No see, I'm enjoying it purely through aggressive Nationalistic and Heterosexual reinterpretations of the plot, that allows me to not shrivel up inside when I'm looking for human male on female deer fanart.
Also, while her concept art is slightly better, Toby Fag just sucks at portraits in general. Also also, you'd have to be a very special case to say that you've never once enjoyed a piece of art that made a character "off-model" to make them look better.

I didn't post the shitposts, but yes, I do derive some guilty pleasure from seeing brave men and actual women pushing back against the deceptively small tides of filth. The faggy fox has unleashed a beast that he has no control over. No matter how tragic or how awful he tries to make the Kris/Noelle happy funtime adventure, no matter how it actually ends, the lasting legacy of this game, what he wants to be his magnum opus, will largely be everyone wanting the MC to dick down the doe.

Actually Mr. Perry did do a short sketch comic series of the couch scene, but with sex instead of "definitely not related to sex symbolism". It's short but pretty good, as i remember it.

The problem with furshit, even ignoring furries themselves as a subculture, isn't that it's anthropomorphic or animal characters, but the specific artstyle itself.

I can't quite put my finger on it, but there's a certain "look" that makes furshit look distinctive compared to other (quasi-realistic styles. Comparing classic cartoony "funny animal" designs to furshit is another entire ball of wax, although an inability to cleanly distinguish between a "realistic" and "cartoony" intent when blocking out a character is probably another technical failing endemic to furries) random Western anthro designs, like D&D beastmen, Elder Scrolls beast races, etc. The faces, the bodies, everything looks different. I think maybe in normal designs each part looks more like either a real animal or a real person, whereas in furshit every individual anatomical element is an incompetent and awkward attempt to combine the two.

This problem is, of course, at the root of one of the main things that makes furries themselves so annoying, their tendency to retroactively claim any and all anthropomorphic characters as "furry", with all the baggage that implies, when it clearly fucking isn't.

>This problem is, of course, at the root of one of the main things that makes furries themselves so annoying, their tendency to retroactively claim any and all anthropomorphic characters as "furry", with all the baggage that implies, when it clearly fucking isn't.
The biggest thing furries have going for them is that they've gaslit people into thinking that liking anything with anthro characters is an identity. They hold a very broad, several thousand year old-genre of character design hostage, and let non-furfags do the dirty work of accusing anyone who engages with any media containing it of being a furry. They also get pissed off at monster girl fans and horsefuckers for liking anthro-adjacent stuff yet not considering themselves furries, as this is a threat to their monopoly.

That's what trannies say about real video games with women in them. This is just shovelware trying to exploit social media heat with like 10% more effort than usual.

I don't like calling games "goonslop", but unlike games like Stellar Blade or Nier: Automata or even Swords and Slippers, this actually deserves that term. I want fanservice in my games a lot, but I don't want it enough to spend actual money on glorified Jump Rope Challenge with boobies. Maybe if the dev was a chud, I'd buy it just to support him, but he has a fucking Bluesky, so I'll pass.

Gotta agree. Actual games with erotica in them (or even just "characters that are maybe slightly cute"), or outright hentai games, are one thing. This just feels so... I dunno, gimmicky? Grifty? Like the gooner equivalent of Goat Simulator, it's streamerbait, or something to drop onto your HDD so you can point at it in front of others.

The problems is that the game just look like cheap rogueslop with no possibility of progress and dynamic.
If it was really a good flash game it would have a visible progress, voice acting on everything with the worst bitrate possible, cool or badass soundtrack all in just 5mb.

I don't know why no one objects against the western art style.
I would be 1% interested in the game if it had a cute anime art style as opposed to my 0% of interest when it looks like a Pixar cartoon.

I agree.
God forbid having a serious story without lame jokes and 4th wall breaking faggotry.
Especially since Golden Axe was serious and based on Conan the barbarian.

It's an illustration from the 4th Special novel, sadly that was beyond what they adapted as OVAs.
