This is a thread that we’ve had a few times on 4/v/ and I want to see how it goes over here. Talk about Bionicle video games, the series overall, and the upcoming Masks Of Power.
Bionicles? That's the old one. They're making a new thing called "War Frames" now.
Basically, imagine the Rahkshi; mecha-piloting worm cyborgs, except they're the good guys, and they help humans like some kind of robot Power Rangers. It's even got this video game that's basically a successor to the non-DS versions of Bionicle Heroes. Recently they added in this whole "worm mode" where you get to customise your worm ("Tenno") and infiltrate vents and stuff with them to steal extra information. Mine is purple with a big pink mohawk.
You can beat Bionicles on the PS2 in 1 hour. It's pretty bad, but not terrible.
That DS game is pretty good if you can get normal aiming to work on an emulator.

Weirdest bot post I’ve yet seen.

If by DS game you mean Bionicle Heroes then you can get it on myabandonware. Heroes is quite fun and has a nice amount of replayability, played it last time around 15 years ago before today that is.
If you want to change the resolution then go to AppData/Local/EIDOS/BIONICLE Heroes and just change the values in nuconfig.txt
Myabandonware also has other Bionicle games that I should check out.

>Masks Of Power
I completely forgot about that one, the development seems to be going as of now. Honestly speaking the game improved quite a lot since the early days. Fingers crossed it will get released.

I'll admit it, you got me.

Never heard of Masks of Power until now, I thought people were still trying to make that cancelled PC game playable. My gut says they'll spend most of their time replicating the island based on the MNOG series and forget to make the gameplay fun.

I've played all the Bionicle games. Most people would probably agree Mata Nui Online is the best, but it's a point and click. As far as the action games go the best is this BIONICLE on GBA. Yeah the graphics and sound are both horrible, but it's actually a pretty decently functioning isometric platformer with interesting levels and some decent puzzles. The Toa's different abilities are actually interesting to play with (Gali water levels with slowed movement and more jump height, Lewa's gliding, etc). Kopaka's making ice blocks to jump on and slide on rails is by far the best level.
The combat is very lame with just auto aiming projectiles but it's still more interesting than the 2D platformers or the other auto aim shooters that don't really have movement mechanics.
As a kid, BIONICLE GBA took me a long time to figure out and beat with unlimited lives. It's actually a very fast game to breeze through if you know what to do, wheras the 2D GBA platformers feel like a bit more of a chore with slow movement and long but boring sections.
Unfortunately there's no save battery, instead there's a password system. But the horrible font has the same symbols for different characters, making it useless. I just left my GBASP plugged in the whole time. You also have limited lives for the whole game, so if you can't save, it's hard mode, but I honestly didn't mind that.
Seriously, I've gone back to play this ugly kusoge more often than any other Bionicle game.
These days you can use save states on an emulator, but at least just save at the level selection screen, don't save scum the levels.
The ps2/gc/xbox/pc version is of course decent for one playthrough, but I didn't really want to go back to it. I think the artwork is fairly decent but it's boring. That was my first game I ever bought with my own money, and I was slightly disappointed with it.

"Masks of Power" cancelled, potentially rebranding
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1704850/Project_Rustbound/
LEGO appears to have changed its tune on IP protection eight years into Masks of Power's development and presence in the public consciousness, despite having historically sanctioned other (completely free and unmonetised) fan-games released under the "Bionicles" IP.
"Team Kanohi" has tentatively rebranded the project to salvage its assets and release the game under a new, original IP called "Rustbound", which will presumably involve new character and monster models as well as a reworking of the game's story. It's yet to be seen whether LEGO will tolerate the new release, but presumably there's nothing they can do about it.

I haven't followed the game's development at all, was there some kind of drama?

Is anyone really surprised by this? If you are, or even dissapointed, why? These fags never owned the Bionicle IP, they didn't even license the fucking thing. And don't give me the excuse that is was a "passion" project. If these fags actually did care about their work, then they would have been creating their own "Not-Bionicle" game instead of trying to ride on the coattails of a near 25 year old toy line.

The Lego Group proper isn't much better. As they removed police sets in the wake of Saint Floyd's Summer of Live, and even put out an LGBT pride flag set.

The dev team were troons and the lead dev is a slacktivist that started a fight with a vtuber after calling her a nazi. Lego likely pulled support to save face

I believe there was also a clause about not monetizing this, whether the troon squad ignored this or not idk.

She looks cool and mean. If I were a BIONICLES Battler, this would be my Bionicle, but just so I can play videogames with her all day.
