>card game
digital card battle. really unique and fun card game. tons of busted strategies to try, from mill decks and warp evo decks to self-destruct+drain decks.
>bog-standard rpg
cyber sleuth+hacker's memory. turn-based rpg in which you assemble your party and venture through dungeons. a bit dialogue-heavy. building parties is fun (just make sure to have your platshitmons and tactician USBs ready)
digimon adventure. a revisiting of the original anime in video game form. has quite a few sidequests
>VN
survive. it's no masterpiece but it does feel like an anime season somewhat. the srpg portion of the game is quite barebones. it has its moments that get you pumped up, but this is counterbalanced by the cast being retarded in equal share
>pet-raising RPG
they're love it or hate it
<digimon world 1
the original one that kicked things off. fun cozy game where you explore and recruit digimon to form a town. combat is quite novel for its time: your dude is an AI and you shout orders that take effect immediately. and attacks have to actually connect to do damage. attack cooldowns exist. kind of obtuse and cryptic though (e.g. no one explains lifespan or tiredness, whether a tech is learnable via combat depends on which of your digimon's slots that tech's specialty occupies). the more unlocks you get and the more you learn the easier it gets
<digimon world re: digitize decode
once again you set out to gather digimon to join your town. features many addition to combat such as a move command and an actual block command. care elements have been streamlined somewhat (e.g. potty timer has been extended) and some issues have been addressed (battles are actually viable to raise stats at least early on, the restaurant was made actually useful, tech acquisition chances increase the more the enemy uses an attack, you get per-evo hints, shop is available from the beginning etc.). way bigger roster too, and the newly--added 2-player co-op mode is sweet. the colosseum is super fun this time around
<next order
you raise 2 digimon this time, and their lifespans can desync, which causes casuals to bitch and moan, but at the same time lets your aged mega train your next generation rookie in no time flat. care elements are much more streamlined than the previous two (timers are super generous). combat has been simplified (no move command, pauses when a menu is open). a lot more facilities (e.g. evo dojo to block out some evos, casino, fishing pond), and some crafting elements a builder to upgrade other buildings, who uses materials. some aspects are downgraded from decode, most notably the colosseum. the one notable upside is you can gain extremely early access to melons if you know what you're doing. btw the enhanced block command is mandatory
