A thread for strategy games in real time, like rts's and rtt's. RTS's, in particular, have had a resurgence in the last few years. Ambitious games are being released. A lot of them are remakes, but still, they're interesting. Stuff like Age of empires and age of mythology aren't dead ip's any more.

Can TotalWar come too?

Even ignoring the apostrophe, you really couldn't be bothered to press the shift key?

So, is the age of mythology remake any good? Seen it have 25k viewers on twitch, which is extremely rare for strategy games nowadays. Wasn't even a major tournament on. Days after the release.

Its pretty decent
The new voice acting is bad and things have been rebalanced again, but I´m not into the meta enough to know the details besides some of the surface level stuff (new units for the nords, the ballistic thing from AoE2)
Campaign has also seen some retooling in the few missions I played and you can now pick your player color in skirmish plus the playercount can now go up to 12 which I think is new

Sounds like I'll be picking it up when it goes on sale. I've always loved the campaign.

Been playing BAR a lot lately and even gotten somewhat good.

Gotta say the total annihilation/suppcomm/BAR etc version of the playstyle model, where your tier 1 units are still useful into the lategame is very pleasant.

I can be at t2 max and still level an opponent that is building T3 units. The sheer number of units you can build removes some constraints you would have in games like wc3, where tier 1 will become heavily obsolete in the lategame.

The issue: like all games with an older model the playerbase is split between pros and absolute noobs, very few in the middle.

Also:
Look at the gif. It seems braindead simple, yet many games lack this basic feature. It seems simple with 5 units, but you can do it with 100 units as well and since you draw the line the units form around, you can strengthen one side and retreat the other. You can also draw an encirclement. It's fucking amazing once you have longer ranged units or if you are maintaining a frontline.
I have no idea why so few games have this. I think even suppcom doesn't.

I like to support devs that do good work. Anyway, honestly, I thought all popular, recent releases were protected with denuvo.

Yeah, I've heard some people talk about the changes being good. I'll keep an open mind. I wonder if it'll go on sale for black friday. Think I'll hold out until then.

Depends on the publisher
Square Enix, Ubisoft, Capcom or Sega are usually the big shitters that add that cancer
Also that makes the game not uncrackable thanks to either denuvo-less exe that were "accidentally" shipped with launch or workarounds like in the newly released Metaphor: ReFantazio
Plus that cancer gets sometimes quietly removed from games

It will probably get a sale when the new dlc for the china rework comes out

But that's wrong, you piece of shit. The readme even contradicts itself by telling you pic related and then pointing you to Steam. It just doesn't include any game data, just like the old id software source code releases. Eventually someone will write replacements for the missing proprietary bits and we can have C&C source ports, though I don't know if anyone will bother since they already open sourced 95+% of C&C1 and Red Alert years ago.
