I was dicking around on one of the carebear forks but dropped it 2 months back.

Can someone explain what the MOO games are about? I've kept hearing about them on /v/ but never understood what they were to begin with.

Nigger simulator flavored with ERP. It's fun,  don't get me wrong.  But some of the most bitterly autistic people play it along with all the fun and headache that comes with.  It's a MUD, text based mmo essentially.  The text based nature of the game means you can get a lot of complex interactions like flying a plane compete with an internal area to sit and interact with or a story I heard of a guy jumping out of a plane, lighting a campfire, and putting a bomb in it to circumvent a pvp restriction. 

Makes me wonder what could be done a modern take on a mud.

But the reality is the server works on heartbeat so things sync movement.   You generally have a room description, stuff in the room, and who is there. Some will show what players are doing

This can all depend on the mud itself and the client you use. Again, they can be a ton of fun.  If I recall they're is a mud building client around. I wonder how hard it would be to make one.

Does anyone have a copy of the original db to host with?
