I can only guess that after she sacrified herself in Arkham Knight leaving only a flower as a testament of her legacy, that flower then grew into a reborn Poison Ivy, so that is why she's a child now.

Are you prepared for singleplayer games costing over $400 million to make?
>>229311
>to make
At least half of that is for direct marketing, with the "development cost" accounting for things like the IP and celebrities. I think that's a good thing though, the more they invest the more they'll lose when not even normalfags are willing to pay 70 dollars for an unplayable buggy mess.

Assuming the game costs 70$ to the customer, then Sony gets about 30$ for each copy sold (probably less because of taxes).

1: Marketing budget seems to be included in that. That's at least a fifth of the total budget going by other leak.
2: Translation budget may be included. English VA+ 11 languages of translation and voice acting+9 languages text would account for several dozen million dollars. I doubt it would raise far above 100 mil.

Still absolutely ridiculous ("only" 200 mil development), especially as other slides indicate that the license is royalty based rather than lump sum up front and its an internal engine.
>>229311
From what I've heard?

* Marketing, executives, and celebrities are the biggest money-hogs of an entire game budget. VAs don't even really cost that much relative to how much celebs do.
* IP licenses for music and characters can cost a lot if they're not yours. Especially if it's mainstream music, and trying to work with any other company's characters can come with some insane strings attached if not costs.
* Rights to use specific game marketplaces can cost a shitton for companies to use. Before publishers let any indie studio publish what they want, I remember Phil Fish bitching about how much money (like at least 30 grand) he had to spend to get Fez Published on xbox 360 marketplace. But the again, Fish is a hackjob who basically backstabbed the team he used to work with, so he got what he deserved.
* Motion Capture : if you're ACTUALLY using a proper MoCap system, instead of using recorded-video references and animating based on those. MoCap require expensive equipment and dedicated stunt teams, each which have costs... Of course this is assuming they want to actually shell out shekels for it.
* Outsourcing almost everything. Legit. Anything that isn't engine programming is likely to be outsourced or developed in entirely different states or even continents. (example: Mick Gordon is Australian, DooM and Bethesda are American companies.)
* Busywork for mandatory staff : Crash Team Racing got framecapped because there's so much shit in the scene that the player doesn't see, but it still exists, fully-modelled, normal-mapped and rednered in the backgrounds. This was there because the model team got done faster, so they had to give them busywork or something like that... I don't remember exactly if it's true or not.

But yeah. AAA games have their priorities skewed as fuck.

It's not even golem vs kike shit. It's Grifter vs Grifter. Actual Golems are the terminally-online mods on communication platforms, and the useful idiots who unironically-believe that AAA-devs can do no wrong.

The phrasing "become a [money] project" wouldn't imply potential revenue to me since this is presumably something shown to investors who don't want to hear about development costs, but perhaps in context it's clearer.

Your price breakdown does indicate that the sales numbers for breaking even make sense if Insomniac gets $40 and Sony gets $30, but I don't recall exactly how much money is sent to the developers/publishers. I remember reading about it a bit in the 7th gen when I actually bought games but these days I pirate everything. A lot of games are trying to be live services too, and I do find it a little unusual that these single player games don't have any mention of post-launch monetization.
Replies: >>229342
>>229338
>>229318
I think the numbers of "full-price" are sub-retail price because of things like retailer cuts, physical good production/shipping, local currency pricing/conversion, royalties (we know from other slides Marvel gets a percent rather than (just?) up front license purchase), and maybe taxes.

Speaking of PedoWood:
>Warner Bros. Discovery And Paramount Could Become One Company In Industry-Shaking Merger
https://archive.ph/MIYUQ
< After months of speculation related to two of Hollywood's biggest media companies, it seems that a huge, landscape-altering deal could be on the horizon. Warner Bros. Discovery is reportedly in talks to merge with Paramount, as reported by Axios. While it's cautioned that things are preliminary, WBD CEO David Zaslav did recently meet with Paramount CEO Bob Bakish to discuss a possible deal, which would potentially happen sometime next year. This would further alter the movie and TV business as we know it.
<Zaslav is said to have spoken with Shari Redstone, who owns Paramount's parent company, National Amusements Inc., about a possible deal. This is also not the only talk we've heard lately regarding a possible takeover of Paramount, with Puck recently reporting that Skydance Media and RedBird Capital Partners were eyeing a potential deal to buy a majority stake in NAI. Talk of a potential sale of Paramount began last year but has heated up recently. The main reason being that Paramount, in all likelihood, will not be able to survive in the ever-evolving media landscape that is moving increasingly away from traditional TV and towards streaming.

Batman normalfags are already pissed apparently. And the game's gonna be live service slop, which is too much for even redditards to stomach (remember Avengers?), so it's most likely gonna bomb.
What I'm really worried about, and what you should be more worried about, is the game getting "fixed" sometime in the future and it becomes an "underrated" hit that was "unjustly disliked" by "tasteless plebs who didn't get it". Those redditors will then become useful idiots, serving as an example of said tasteless plebs and why the game was actually teh based the entire time.
It'll be Arkham Knight times a million, in fact it's 100% going to be used as an example.
