The OG xbox doesn't get as much love as its contemporaries.
As much as I love the PS2 and its library I always hated how sensitive it was and the 480i resolution sucks.
The OG xbox still looks great on both CRT and flat-screen TVs by having up to 720p and 1080p res.
Not only that but it has some of the best versions of multi-plats, usually having the 60fps versions.
Also the shape of the console and controller is peak comfy.

I've seen some video reviews of the early 3D Ninja Gaiden games and the Xbox versions seemed superior to the PS3 versions. Ninja Gaiden vs Ninja Gaiden Sigma, I think.

You don't go Xbox for exclusives so much as you don't want to waste time getting a bunch of janky early 2000s games to work on your PC and Xbox usually has the best versions of 6th gen multiplats by virtue of being the console with the fewest compromises. Gamecube looks like the most dev-friendly platform today because the shader model everything uses now is just TEV with extra steps, but not using full DVDs, having less RAM and (most important) having to lick Nintendo's asshole was a way bigger problem at the time.

The OG XBOX was the only cool XBOX.
Back then i picked a PS2 over the XBOX for the better library, but the times i played with XBOX it always impressed me.
If Microsoft did an XBOX mini with 100% accurate emulation and all its best game on it (and if it was moddable to add even more of course) i would buy it in a heartbeat.

Considering there's no emulation everyone would buy it but then there would be emulation if they did that as it'd get hacked so they know better. It's ((( microsoft ))) after all. They know it'd take away from their money they get when remaking things, the same games simply ported to the new consoles will always make money and only emulation can threaten that profit.

Never gonna happen.

How did M$ drop the ball so hard after the original Xbox? X360 had an infamous hardware failure for the original release of the console, and by the time things were looking up for the 360, they shat on it with waggle garbage and Kinect. Xbox One was just them hoping that the Kinect shit would catch on (it didn't) to mask the fact that Xbone had no games to offer that you couldn't find on other consoles or PC. Series X/S is the same story as the Xbone, but with Goy Pass in the mix and Microshaft buying out any gaming company under the sun.

It's always the same story, first they put actual effort to ,make an impact so they'll impress people and get customers, then they get complacent and turn lazy doing the bare minimum because "they'll buy it anyway".

I don't know anon, it's not like they can expect people to pay for a "Blinx" remaster or something.
Halo already got its remasters, so it's not like putting the original one in mini replica of the first console will cause them any money loss.
What game can a XBOX mini get anyway?
Probably:
Halo
Halo 2
Blinx
Blinx 2
Dead Or Alive 3
Dead or Alive Ultimate
Ninja Gaiden Black
Jet Set Radio Future
Then what!?

Was that any good?

It's clear that with the first XBOX they just wanted to make a cool product and were putting some fucking effort in it, that's why it was the only cool XBOX console.
They weren't taking customers for granted nor they were pushing any agenda, that's why people get nostalgic.

Splinter Cell: Double Agent on the OG Xbox is the best version.
Better plot from the older gen and with better effects and frame rate compared to the PS2/GC/Wii.
Think of it like an expansion to Chaos Theory but with moral choices.

The newer gen version has a terrible plot, the stealth is crap and the PC version is buggy as hell.

You mean like Halo 1?
>>236217
Also until a couple gears ago piracy was arguably a nicer experience on the hueg than the PS2. Being a crippled PC meant heug games were more likely to be tolerant of the timing changes from running from hard drive, and the hard drive was right there from the beginning. On PS2 (and incidentally gaycube) you have to hack in a program loader running from whatever storage device you're bolting on, and almost anything you can load from will be slower than DVD so stuttering and other bullshit is almost a given. MechaPwn with FMCB sort of fixes this by making burned DVDs without a modchip much less of a headache.
Replies: >>236232
>>236224
You can also install a HDD on the PS2. Does that help with loading speed?
Replies: >>236238 >>236257
>>236232
HDD is significantly faster than DVD, which can actually cause problems with some games. The system usually doesn't care, though, because spin-up and seek times are so variable.

The best way of pirate the ps2 is buying empty DVDs and burning them on your computer. Plays like the original game in terms of speed and loading screens, and you can even install modified copies of games with mods or undubs. The reason why the ps2 is one of the most sold consoles is because it was so easy to pirate, so people bought it just to watch movies burned on a DVD-R on mpg2 format. For games of more than 4,7GB like GTA San Andreas or Gran Turismo 4 you need a double layer DVD of 8,5GB. But fortunately, only very few games weight more than 4,7GB. You can also play PS1 games burning 700mb CDs but you may need a ps1 memory card to be able to save the games, because the PS2 memory cards are incompatible with PS1 save files.
Replies: >>236280
>>236232
Nope, adding HDD/SSD only helps for storing all the games in them.
>>236250
Nah the PS2 sold so many because every PS2 broke so everyone bought a second one to play their San Andre on.
