Could we sucker developers into developing video games a specific way with the argument that they're "fighting climate change" by doing so?
Setting the stage, I thought of this idea while i was outside shoveling snow and listing to music on my PSP. Then it hit me that my PSP is using far less "power" to just to function than any of the latest consoles. Jumping even further than that, I remembered a NintendoLife article from several years ago documenting that the Wii U used far less power than any of it's rivaling console: https://archive.ph/uzH51
Then it hit me. I'm wondering if it's possible to try to lead a massive campaign demanding that game developers and companies go back to making games for earlier systems under the "demand" that they're doing it for the purposes of "fighting climate change". The idea works two-fold. The first stems from the fact that, like I just established, these newer consoles demand far more power than earlier systems: https://archive.ph/FmeFE
So the argument being laid is that, if these developers "love" the environment so much, and want to be such a "good citizen of the world" by "fighting climate change", then the logical things is to demand that they develop video games for systems that demand the least amount of power in order to function. Currently that entails developing games for the Switch, but it goes much further than that, which leads to the second part.
Since they're developing the games for more systems, that helps reduce the "production impact" because there's less reasons to mine and gather the resources to produce a new Switch when you can play the same game on the Wii U or PS3 that already exist. On top of that, it would demand that developers get back to optimizing their games because now they have to go back to game having limitations and this would only futher demonstrate their shit coding and get the retards out of the tech field. This could also be wrapped up by demanding that developers end games being "always online" and/or having "online-only" multiplayer with the argument that using an internet connection still "harms" the environment because you're using more electricity than if the game never connected online, and that having 4-8 people all playing one game on the same system is "Better" for the environment than if they were all playing the same game on 4-8 seperate systems (With 4-8 TVs, 4-8 routers, etc. that would need to exist by extension). And if the developers try to make the exuse that the older systems are "Just not powerful enough", tell them how horrible they are for hating on the environment, throw it in their face that earlier games managed to make more with less, AND tell them that they're horrible people for not caring about the environment.
What do you guys think?
