S4Max Gamenight: NEW BENIGGINGS

Download: https://www.s4max.com/

Start time:

We usually play around 7PM-12AM UTC, subject to the whims of the hostfag.
The gamenight runs through the first weekend of the month, on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Typically Saturday is the most active.
There are usually a few people who are willing to manage the room, and it's not hard too figure out.
Somebody will start one and announce it in the thread with the room's name and password.

How to set up:
Run the launcher, and you will be able to choose a username and password immediately. There's no need for emails or signups.
See vid related for how to play. There is also a tutorial available in game. (Create an Arcade Room - Scenario)

How do I play it

S4 League is a weaboo arena third-person-shooter with gimmicks. Mechanics are fairly straightforward: run, jump, and shoot.
The biggest gimmick of all is the wall jump, which you will need to master if you want to move fast and be stylish.
Being stylish is very important in this game. Make sure you spend your PENs in the shop so that anons can stare at your ass admire your taste.

There are three specific game modes that we'll be playing:

>Battle Royale: What it says on the tin. It's All-VS-All, although it often turns into an All-VS-One cheesefest.
>Deathmatch: Players are divided into two teams, and whichever gets the most kills wins. Good when there are fewer than 6 players.
>Touchdown: This is the real game - sportsball with guns. A minimum of 3v3 is ideal to keep it lively and balanced.

Guess I'll repost it here:
Would it be okay to have a macro for sprint so I can sprint with a separate key? Will it get me banned?

There's an anime I need to rewatch one day. Too bad it's from the trapped-in-SD era.

I really don't see how it would. That stuff is getting handled client-side, so I don't think the server would even be able to tell. I don't think inputting dash faster will even give you a noticeable advantage, and doing wacky stuff with exact input timing is kind of what the game is all about. There all kinds of dash cancelling and reload cancelling that are just considered part of the game

Wine broke for me and I have trouble launching the game (this game used to work), and I was planning to switch to a different distro anyway soon, which would maybe "fix" Wine, but I guess I'll have to switch sooner (tomorrow, as quickly as possible) OR try to fix Wine still on this system.

Consider using umu-launcher. If you're already using dxvk the 32bit vulkan loader might have been messed up and you can manually point it to the right driver using something like VK_ICD_FILENAMES=/usr/share/vulkan/icd.d/radeon_icd.i686.json with the correct 32bit .json for your GPU.

System wine isn't something you should be using if that is what you are saying. Otherwise you should be using some sort of Launcher that manages prefixes and ProtonPlus.
Which I cannot recommend anything but Bottles.

>>318157
Arguably I don't see the purpose in Umu. It's too steam focused to be useful yes you can use it outside of steam games however... It's nowhere near as capable as Bottles and Lutris can break functionality just from a update in something like winetricks.

>>318158
That's not the point of umu-launcher at all, it's a runtime environment for Proton. Which in turn is a package containing a game focused fork of wine and a bunch of libraries such as dxvk, updated vkd3d, faudio, etc. meaning you don't need to mess with any of those on a per prefix basis. Not that I even know how you would manage to break a prefix these days.

            S4

  2NITE

If no one else makes a room I'll open one in 4~5 hours or so.

S4Max doesn't have any client anti-cheat, so it should be fine.
>>318138
Anyone can become The Hostman, all it takes it a few button presses.
>>318156
Appreciate the thought, but I couldn't make something as cool or consistent as OP's guide.
Which means we MUST find and PUNISH the real perpetrator tonight.

>>318157
If you want to run the game with umu + Proton, all you have to do is download and extract https://github.com/GloriousEggroll/proton-ge-custom/releases
then run WINEPREFIX=/path/to/.your-wine-prefix PROTONPATH=/path/to/GE-Proton11-06 umu-run MAXLauncher.exe

If you want to use regular Wine, you'll have to run some winetricks installs.

Thanks, that's good cause I already made it.
>I don't think inputting dash faster will even give you a noticeable advantage
I've delayed the key presses so it's not any faster than double tapping anyway, it kept dropping inputs.

weirdly, character slots were locked and rank 22 despite only 4 matches recorded. Eh, maybe they broke something while updating. Doesn't matter, the power gain is MASSIVE.

Apologies! There seems to have been a mix up when uploading that video.
I have filled a global report so Sturgeon can investigate and fix this case immediately.
Meanwhile here's the correct video, for your enjoyment:
