Title
>Silent Hill 2
It's whatever, it's not thrilling me the same as the first. Got to the hospital and the annoying nurses turned me off of it for the time being.
>Yakuza
Not than what I was expecting. To be honest I don't actually know what I was expecting, I've never seen gameplay of it or had any clue what it was about but apparently it's a big movie game. Haven't touched it in 2-3 weeks.
>Tag Force 3
Not much to be said about this one, bit of a disappointment compared to the original, it doesn't improve in any meaningful way but actually takes a few steps backwards.
>Top Gun: Combat Zones
I think this was one of my first PS2 games, I downloaded it out of pure nostalgia, because I never finished it as a kid. Game's kinda shit, so I can see why I didn't bother.

My name is Anon and I approve of this thread.

>Sword of the Sea
Not really worth a typeup in the review thread, it was a cute game, pretty much Abzu and Journey put together. Better than both so it wasn't a total waste of time, but if you've played one game by that studio, you've played them all.

>Homura Hime
Mentioned it in the Friday thread last week, it's roundabout what I expected after the demo so far. Buggy, janky, pretty low polish and the levels are hallways leading into corridors leading into hallways; but you can tell the entire focus was on making good gameplay and engaging encounters + bosses. That said, it doesn't make me any less disappointed it wasn't Asian Furi; if they scrapped the levels and focused on giving the bosses more phases, they could have ignored half the jank and had a more rounded endproduct.
Still chugging through it nonetheless, the later levels do seem to be more meaty.

>Lords of the Fallen '23
Probably gonna do a full typeup in the Slike thread. tl;dr I am / have enjoyed it, but I'm cleaning up side-content before the final gauntlet and want a full night to just sit down with it.

>Robobeat
Not really got around to it yet, but I wanna see how feasible it is to make some funny clips with inappropriate music, since you can set custom music to play anything you want. As in. Anything.

Got back into Onimusha 2 after a break from it. Last time I tried to play it ended up stuck with no healing items and almost no health in the second fight against the fag in the second pic. I restarted the game from the beginning, this time using more save slots and being more cautious with my healing items. This time I got past the boss. Turns out there was no way to defeat him. You just have to wait until the second cutscene.
Aside from that. I´m having a very sweet time with the game. The combat and weapons are a bit more varied and complex than the first game. It´s also harder, with more enemies thrown at you. The gift system is interesting. And the time I got to play as other character aside from Jubei (Oyu) was fun too.
Graphic-wise looks pretty good for a early PS2 title, specially the character models and the pre-rendered backgrounds, with the later being pretty stunning at times. The captures I made doesn´t make them justice. I´m playing it in an actual PS2 and for some reason my video capture device fucks up the resolution in the captures I made. Making them look way blurrier than it should even if when I am actually playing it looks fine.
Only major flaw I can think of is that the first game´s problem of sometimes having really bad camera angles when I fight remains here. That and that the soundtrack it´s blander than the first game. But other than that I really like this game.

Thanks, nothing surpass a cold cup of water in this hot as hell season.

>>312635
No. But even if you have to stay hydrated. You have to remember some of the water will remain in your body. If you overdrink you will end up looking fatter.
Are there really people who are dumb enough to forget the basic survival instinct of drinking liquids to stay alive? Maybe we should let those people dry up.

>What is this?
I essentially made a build and am testing it in every single Fallout game I can think of, in the chronological timeline of events(not chronological release of games themselves). I am also counting full overhaul mods like Fallout Nevada, London and New California into the equation on top of the official titles. I think I already covered the build itself in one of my earlier posts, essentially I am running a pacifist-diplomat that tries resolving every conflict peacefully. If I can't resolve a conflict using speech, stealth, barter/bribes or some other non-combat skill(Fallout 3 was full of combat encounters with little in the way of alternative solutions, for example, as was Fallout Tactics) and am forced into combat, I have a Leadership build that has companions vaporize enemies for me, and my character himself is forbidden from using guns, only able to use unarmed/melee/thrown and various utility items like the Dart Gun or Pulse Gun. How I distributed SPECIAL/skills I must have already covered in one of my earlier posts, so I heavily encourage you to read my previous posts if you're interested, I am not going to rehash previous playthrus unless they're relevant and instead continue off from my Fallout 3 post I made a couple of weeks ago.

Fallout New Vegas is the last of my little departure back to the Xbox 360, which I spend the last 3 or so months on. It was a wonderful time and I am glad my Xbox still works just as well as it did before, minus one minor scare I had when I got Red Ring of Death a little while back. I thought that was it but I fired the system up again and it worked like a charm, at it's age I am not surprised but if I encounter an RRoD again in the future it might be time to start doing some serious maintenance work on the system. The console probably overheated in this climate, not much that can be done about it.

New Vegas is a monumental improvement over Fallout 3 in pretty much every way, every problem I had with that game was fixed in New Vegas and I had a much more comparable experience to the isometric titles. Game is designed as a proper RPG rather than an Oblivion mod, combat is more balanced(and actually difficulty in early-middle game), resource management is a bigger problem in the game(even if you still collect more items than you will ever need by the end, plus Hardcore Mode adds more complexity to the system by adding weight to ammo and forcing players to eat/drink regularly), there is a ton more alternative solutions to encounters, including pacifist ones and the introduction of Unarmed skill moves greatly improves me experience, as does the addition of Pulse Gun, Flare Gun and Compliance Regulator as tools melee users can utilize to make their playthrus more interesting. The latter proved vital to this playthru, being able to stun any enemy upon scoring a critical hit made even the toughest encounters a cakewalk, most notably reducing Quarry Junction into an easy stroll as my character smashed the skulls of Mother and Alpha Male Deathclaws with his foot, as if squashing a roach, as they laid helpless on the ground. To a lesser extent there is the new KO system, but I think it is underutilized, for example melee weapons like Cattle Prod knockout enemies in more time and hits than it takes to kill them with proper weapons so what's the point? There are Flashbangs introduced in one of the DLCs but they didn't work out nearly enough and their stockpile is limited so I couldn't reliably knockout enemies from afar. Not that it really mattered, with just Love & Hate as well as War Club from one of the DLCs I was able to solo the entire game, I was worried that OP weapons I modded into my New California playthru might have muddied the waters, but it's good to know that this build is just straight up OP even with the weapons the devs intended you to have. Love & Hate bring me back to my London playthru where I modded these in and used them as my MVPs in the end game, my Courier even wears a face mask(Legion Recruit Helmet) like my Wayfarer did. On the thrown weapon front, I found that the game has been balanced to never give you too many of them, Spears are mainly limited to how many Legion soldiers you can kill and with the exception of Dynamite(if you side with Powder Gangers) and Frag Grenades(if you are friendly with the Legion) there is no reliable way to farm high level explosives like Plasma Grenades. This made them an occasional power weapon rather than a main means of doing damage as opposed to Fallout 3 that gave you a retarded amount of Frags thanks to the Outcast Collection Quest, however towards the middle of the game I got my first companion and they generally had my back at a distance. Towards the end, I even pulled an exploit to hire all my companions at once like in New California or Fallout 2 playthru, which turned my little group into a task force and brought out the Leadership build in full. One last note on combat, I had an overstock of poisons since I never really had any use for them. I only used them in three encounters:
>My first Legion hit squad since I was very low leveled
>Quarry Junction
>Hoover Dam Battle
Generally, I could do just fine with just beating stuff up or blowing them up, I figure if I went into one of the tougher DLCs I might have needed them, but I had little use for poisons in this playthru. I should add that I like the feature and they can be very useful, but if a no-guns/melee build can't make them viable, nothing will.

Speaking of DLCs, it's not a secret that the game has some of the best in the entire genre. Each one is worth going thru in it's own way, either for the gear it provides or for the narrative. I completed all of them but Lonesome Road in my New California playthru, this time around I only went to Honest Hearts for my gear and halfway thru Lonesome Road for ED-E upgrades and more gear(Ulysses told me I could go home at any time, so I did). I only went to Old World Blues in NC playthru so I could use The Sink as my playerhome so I had no need to go there this time around(I used an out of bounds exploit to travel to Legate's Camp early and I made my playerbase there), and I was going to do Dead Money for Sierra Madre Armor Reinforced, the best Light armor in the game, but I decided to just keep using Joshua Graham's Armor for +3% to Critical Chance since Compliance Regulator is so OP. Even without the DLC the game has a good variety of content, but some of the more fun bits of equipment can only be found there. As I said, I was impressed with how many more quests could be resolved without bloodshed than in Fallout 3, despite my character being possibly the most skilled martial artist I had during this marathon with maybe the exception of The Chosen One, who became a New Reno Prizefighter and San Francisco Champion despite being Jinxed. The game rewards those who do not shoot NPCs, raise non-combat stats and actually use some common sense to realize what they need to do, hell even the final boss can be talked down instead of being fought(which is what I did). This is why I spend most of the game not even bothering with raising combat skills and just focusing on Speech/Barter/Science and similar skills so I could resolve quests quicker and more easily. This did run into a hitch early on when I helped out Powder Gangers and became a wanted by both Legion and NCR hit squads, it wouldn't be until completing the first act of the main story(which I only did much later) until I got a pardon, so I was hounded by some of the toughest human NPCs in the game straight out of Goodsprings, pretty much. Surprisingly, this didn't matter much due to level scaling, meaning that these NPCs were using crappy early game weapons, as well as the arse shattering power of Love & Hate, I must have beaten the shit out of my first NCR Veteran Rangers and Legion Centurions before I even reached level 15. This early boost of confidence did help in building my character into who he was, slowly becoming known as a monster thru out the Mojave as he helped out bandit factions like Powder Gangers and Great Khans, until both NCR and Legion were forced to give me a pardon. NCR was smart and paid me for my work, so we stayed friends(and eventually I became Idolized by them), where as Ceasar made a mistake of trying to make me his bitch so I killed him towards the end of the game for free Boone loyalty points. Funnily enough, with how the reputation system works, since I did some quests for the Legion when I was friendly with them, even killing Ceasar didn't have the faction sending hit squads after me again since my reputation was too high for it and it couldn't go any lower. Real curiosity, since the reason why Legion wanted me dead before the pardon was for freeing a few Powder Gangers and killing a couple of green Recruits. I guess they got scared off, considering I wore Joshua Graham Armor, and thought he came back from the dead to kill Ceasar or something. I sided with House, just like in my New California playthru, since I figure my character likes the luxury and money The Strip has to offer(and he still hasn't forgiven The NCR for wanting him dead). Yes Man feels like a cop-out so I barely do that playthru, but I like the idea of the protagonist having a backup plan in case House(or some other faction) doesn't deliver on their side of the deal after the events of the game, an ace up their sleeve.

Now would be a good time to talk about the biggest flaw with the game: the jank, performance issues and bugs. Fallout 3 had it's share, but it looks not just downright stable but also complete in comparison to New Vegas. My playthru was plagued with crashes, glitches, asset loading issues and oddities, script errors, I could go on. Several quests could not be completed due to busted triggers(most notably Raul's companion quest not popping up the final conversation to end it, which is notorious for only being able to be completed if you do it in a very certain way without talking to 3 NPCs before meeting him, with one being critical to the main story. In my 16 years of playing the game, I have never completed this quest for this reason). The game is very obviously unfinished and you can see that even if you play the game for the first time, youtube channel Triangle City does a good job diving into this kind of content if you're interested in learning more. Lastly, the unmodded version of the game on consoles have some very glaring technical problems, which include consistent crashes and slowdown, and that's after all the patches, it was even worse at launch. I can't blame the age of my Xbox here since I remember most of these issues being present years ago as well. This is not acceptable and I can see why Obsidian were criticized for the state the game is in, as much as I love what's in there I think cutting out some content and polishing what's left would go a long way. The only game that was less stable than this was the 1.0 release of Fallout London that had a ridiculous amount of crashing, I wager over 100 crashes over the course of my playthru, New Vegas didn't come anywhere close to that but I did get at least a dozen over the course of 80+ hours easy. Thankfully, all this and more can be fixed on PC, but I think it's important to remember the awful state the game launched in, most people don't and it's a shame since even at it's worst, it's still a fantastic experience despite the issues. The mods dilute the experience, no matter how many improvements they bring, and I am glad I was able to give the original a go again, especially after playing thru unmodded Fallout 3 right beforehand so I could appreciate the changes Obsidian made in such a short amount of time.

Lastly, I just want to touch on the writing in the game. It is so refreshing to play a Fallout title that treats the player like an adult again, Fallout 3 felt like a cartoon more than anything and it seems every quest outside the main storyline took place in it's own wacky little world: Go find Nuka Cola for the crazy lady living all alone with a horny guy that wants to fuck her, and somehow hasn't raped her at gunpoint yet because that would be rude! Oh look, there is a battle between a super hero and a supervillain in a town with zero economy that shouldn't exist, maybe you should go kill them!(or talk them down, if you're feeling fancy). There is a talking tree that ends up being revealed to be a character from the original titles that has absolutely no reason to be on the East Coast, isn't that cool? Just don't ask why there are so many trees in this one location in the game and why there is zero living trees elsewhere in the game, world design is hard! Yeah, there is none of that here, there is real factions and real people and you always know their motivations, how they make their living, their relationship with other towns and factions, and most of these NPCs are grounded and act like real people. Cartoon encounters are largely relegated to Old World Blues DLC and Avellone's OC Ulysses, whom I am guessing was supposed to be some sort of badass but just ends up sounding like a disgruntled politisperg constantly whining about BEAR and BULL. On the other side of the DLC spectrum, Dead Money and Honest Hearts have phenomenal writing and world building, I only played thru Honest Hearts right now but I really wish there was more of it. Daniel is a whiny little bitch and I doubt there is anyone in the fandom who actually likes him, but everyone else(Joshua Graham front and center) were great to be around and it made me wish for a future title or a mod set in Utah, so we could get more tribal politics and mormon missionaries, not to mention beautiful landscapes filled with nature instead of the tired old desert setting. Faction relations in the base game are also something to be commended on, factions like Powder Gangers and Great Khans could use more content but even they are fleshed out and feel like they belong, where as in Fallout 3 it felt like everything existed solely around the player: The karma bounty factions did nothing until an arbitrary point where you were too evil/good, and only then did they became part of the game, Brotherhood only exist to be good guy paladins to help you kill the bad guys Enclave who are evil for no reason, and there is barely any other active factions in the game. Hell, you don't even know what the hell people in DC eat since there is zero functioning farms. Ironically enough, the only faction that has any real worldbuilding would be Brotherhood Outcasts, and they are intentionally written to be just like the classic Brotherhood. Suffice it to say, NCR/Legion/Strip wipe the floor with even them, from the moment my character progressed far enough in the story till the end I felt like I was part of a bigger conflict, I had to carefully wage my options in order not to piss off one faction too much(like I did at the start) and generally, it felt like I was making progress in the grand scheme of things with every minor and major quest done. This lead to the climax at the Hoover Dam, where the final encounter with Lanius felt like a natural progression towards the end, despite me meeting this NPC for the first time minutes before the end of the game. There is no comparison to how Fallout 3 fumbled the main quest and writing, especially before the Broken Steel DLC which was needed just to make the story of the vanilla game make sense. It is a shame that this Obsidian is dead, no doubt if the rumors of them being in charge of the next Fallout game are true, there is no way we will get anything near this quality, we can expect something more akin to Outer Worlds and Avowed.

Overall, this was a very enjoyable playthru and one of my better recent ones with this build. My enjoyment was only mired by some technical issues, but they were not enough to get me to stop playing. I would like to note that New Vegas is a perfect summer game, between it's desert setting and warm colors I found myself being more immersed than normally in this heat, hell I even went a step above and bought some Sarsparilla to sip on as I played. If it's not apparent enough already, even in it's primal, most broken state, the game is very much worth playing and still superior to Fallout 3. I recommend anyone who played New Vegas before to give the original game a try, maybe not on a console but a playthru without any mods(yes, even quality of life ones) on PC. I found this to be a refreshing experience that ended up being very nostalgic, altho just being able to sit down and still play my Xbox at all like in the old days alone proved to be a great experience. As for what's next for me, since I played Fallout 3 and New Vegas in their original, unmodded states, the only way forward is to play them both modded and see how much various fan fixes and extra content improve an already solid foundation. I am talking about Tale of Two Wastelands, of course, a monumental playthru since I will be playing both games at the same time, most notably fixing every single Fallout 3 gameplay related problem since the game uses New Vegas mechanics as a base. This one is going to take me a little while to finish, but I am still pumped up even after all the hours spend in the other 3D titles. As much as it was a unique experience going back to vanilla, I am very much looking forward to all the new improvements I installed over the years to fix the games, not to mention smooth 60+ FPS and much more powerful hardware to play the game on. Still, outside of this Fallout marathon, I am thinking about going back to my Xbox eventually to play games I didn't get a chance to back in 7th gen, assuming it doesn't crap out on me, but that's something to think about in the future. My recent Operation Darkness playthru proved to be refreshing not just because it was something different to Fallout, but it also made me curious what other forgotten gems are on that console.

New vegas is the most overrated game of all time and I'm tired of pretending it's not
>>313137
It might be, that's why I am approaching all these games objectively, not with nostalgia. I had a great time with Fallout London and that game used Fallout 4 as a base, for example, and Fallout 2 was just as good as New Vegas in my eyes(more stable, too). Truth is that New Vegas is the most moddable and replayable of the bunch, so it is easily the most played game out of the bunch(unless you count all the normalniggers who play Fallout 4 and have never played any other games). The question of how overrated the game is doesn't matter to me much because even if it is, that doesn't make the game any worse.

Vegas is fine and the best of the 3d fallouts.

I have to disagree with your take on Daniel and I found it a refreshing juxtaposition even if I found him somewhat naive. If there was a knowledge check I wish we could have quoted some scripture at him like 1 Corinthians 13:11. Also more options to make the sorrows that there is a difference between killing in self defence and just killing.

>>313141
Thing is that Daniel was written by Sawyer, and he really wanted to avoid the "white savior" stereotype, to the point where he wanted him to be an Asian, but at the last minute the game glitched out and made him Caucasian. In doing so, he made him a worse character, he should have been written better. Honestly, he just doesn't belong in the setting, if this was the real world that would be one thing, but in this universe, it's just flat out retarded to run away from bandits when you have means to stand your ground and defend yourself, especially in a beautiful valley like Zion that's very well fortified from attacks like these. Also, if you want to teach Sorrows that there is a difference between killing and self defense, you side with Joshua anyways and have a boss fight with Salt instead of executing him(which is more fun anyways, what I did). This has the benefit of both teaching Sorrows that it is okay to defend yourself(but not mindlessly butcher) as well as calming down Joshua so that he doesn't become a monster again. This is objectively the best ending, and Sorrows get to stay in the valley like Randall wanted them to so it fits narratively as well. I do agree that there should have been more scripture reading, that aspect of the DLC was really underutilized. At least you can decorate your home base with the Bible.

The game takes place at least 200 years plus another 51 years from now, man. The USA hasn't even existed quite that long with both combined yet. You underestimate how much culture can change within a brief amount of time.

Firstly, Fallout is not set in our timeline but an alternate timeline. Furthermore, that alternate timeline has its own logic to it -- namely, it is one in which a predominantly (even when very stereotypified) White European Americana worldview with 1950's aesthetics survived. This is self-evident in Fallout 1's intro, along with military holotapes scattered throughout the first game. All of the different factions have their own reasoning and at least semi-realistic origin stories behind them, at least before jewish Bethesda got their hands on the intellectual property and proceeded to rape it. Part of this includes Mormons logically retaining their ethnic European basis, in a very deeply ethnic European region of the U.S., by a religion in which survivalism plays a strong element.

I only played Outer Worlds once, I remember the gameplay mechanics were actually pretty solid and similar to Fallout New Vegas. The foundation was there, the problem was everything else, the writing was bland and story was boring, the locales were small and ugly, NPCs were all cartoon characters, the enemy variety was too small. It felt like a tech demo, to be honest, I finished it but it didn't hold my interest like Fallout games did. I wouldn't say it is a Bethesda like game, at least not mechanically, but maybe I forgot just how bad it is, the writing certainly seems to be more in the area of Bethesda's wacky reddit surrealism more than the grounded world building of New Vegas and older titles. If anything, the sequel seems to be more of a Bethesda game since what little footage of it I have seen resembles a more fast paced Fallout 4, right down to the dumbed down RPG mechanics. I guess I can't say for certain.

Speaking of Outer Worlds, I just realized that it's character builder is just similar enough that I could potentially port over my Fallout build into it and consider this the last game in my marathon, it plays close enough like a 3D Fallout title that I could compare and contrast my other playthrus as well. Would there be any demand for it? I know I haven't played the DLC so I could give that a try. I remember the game isn't very long, but I am not sure how the add ons factor into this.

I remember that ending but it still felt like they wanted to leave it as ambiguous if the sorrows could swing either way even with the lesson you teach them by sparing salt upon wounds. But I think that was more done for the sake of not having just an outright good ending for the DLC, that said in defence of Daniel I think he genuinely wanted to preserve something truly innocent which is again commendable if naive. But I imagine my own reasoning was the same as yours that exodus from such a beautiful and abundant home to the unknown just means that you're prolonging the inevitable lessons that they would have to learn to survive while also increasing their hardship to begin with. I might have had a different tune if he said he had another area of the park he was going to hide them in that the white legs wouldn't be able to find or follow them to.

These last few weeks I had been in a low energy mood, probably in part due to the horrible heat. I hadn´t any desire to engage with any of my hobbies, vidya included. Now I feel better so today I have been playing Onimusha 2. Didn´t advance too much into the game but did get into another new character segment. Magoichi is pretty fun to use, if a bit too easy to cheese by shooting enemies at long distances where enemies, aside from three demon archers in one of the zones, can´t really hurt you. The map design of this part being a lineal corridor with back and forth made it feel to simple for my taste. Still having fun with the game overall. I hope August is a more productive month, despite the still shitty weather.

I heard in advance that he was the only hard fight in the basegame that le forces you to have learnt the fundamental mechanics overhype, but I thought that it'd either be a different person as the boss of Hualong Gate or an easier version now for the "true Bu" fight at Xiapi. To be fair, both Hualong and Xiapi are usually depicted as dark snowy fortresses, so if I saw any screenshots in my years-long lurk, I can forgive my own mistake.
In Nioh terms, he's closer to the Umi Bozu of the game rather than the 3 Kelleys. Likewise I've got a bad feeling the DLCs are going to be as assrapey as N1's was as a result.

I finished my playthru of Fallout: Tale of Two Wastelands, a megamod that combines Fallout 3 and New Vegas into one experience(plus it's just as modifiable as the other two games, combined). For details on how my actual playthru went, I suggest looking thru my Friday Night Posts:

Sadly, archive.today isn't working right now, so a lot of the images from the archive above are broken. Hopefully, this will be fixed by the time the thread reaches bump limit.

This was the second time I played Fallout 3 and third I finished Fallout New Vegas with this build inbetween my previous playthrus, so I will spare a lot of the details that are similar between them and focus on the differences. Much of this playthru drew similarity to what I did before, however I did skimp out on a lot of content due to either not needing anymore gear/money/resources or because I simply did not feel like it. Mothership Zeta was one of the DLCs I did in Fallout 3, for example, which I didn't even touch in this playthru, likewise I completed Honest Hearts in both New California and New Vegas playthrus but I didn't bother this time around.

So, what makes this game interesting should be obvious, the ability to replay Fallout 3 with the new and improved mechanics from Fallout New Vegas, that includes extra ammo types, DT instead of DR making combat actually balanced, poisons, overhauled crafting, Hardcore Mode, I could go on. This is de-facto the best way to play Fallout 3 even if you are not interested in the Mojave portion, but since both are available, this turns the experience into easily the longest and most complete Fallout game of all time, and that's in it's vanilla state before you introduce other outside mods. With so many playthrus of these two games under my belt, I knew what I was doing and the strengths as well as weaknesses of it, so the early game went by smoothly. Capital Wasteland portion is interesting, in that the game is extremely random and chaotic, but it is also harsh and unforgiving thanks to the New Vegas mechanics. For example, Super Mutants with Hunting Rifles in the early game in 3 are a joke, but here they are extremely potent threats from the start thanks to their build-in armor and the newfound power of the rifle, since it is a medium tier weapon now instead of a shitheap like in F3. The entire game is like this, and the wasteland as a whole is just as unpredictable thanks to how many random encounters there are, unlike New Vegas where you roughly know where everything is at any point in time. This reached absurdity in the late game, where thanks to level scaling, I got nothing but the toughest encounters, with almost every trip throwing numerous Deathclaws and Albino Radscorpions(who are now even tougher than in 3 thanks to DT) wherever I went. This doesn't mean the player is defenseless, quite the opposite, but it takes a while to reach that point and feels rewarding, TTW captures the feeling of struggling as a low level player and then later coming back to dominate the early game threats, while still keeping the players on their toes in the late game. Unfortunately, your progress does not reset, so if you complete a good portion of the DC campaign, you will start the Mojave portion as an overleveled character with some of the best gear in the game. This is mods to fix this, of course, which will level you down or take away your gear temporarily, however I have done so by installing a mod that simply increases enemy encounters and introduces new ones, such as actually showing large scale skirmishes between dozens of NCR soldiers and Legion/Fiends/Super Mutants ect(I have used the same mod for New California). This is why I didn't bother doing too many side quests for the Mojave portion of the game, since I pretty much had everything I needed and largely just went for the main quests. This uneven difficulty curve is about the only thing I don't like about the game, but it isn't it's fault, I doubt the devs of either game thought that these two would be intertwined and didn't prepare for it.

Despite playing thru these campaigns numerous times, with the same build and roughly the same kinds of weapons, I still found that each playthru of Fallout 3 and New Vegas was different from one another. The quests I did, the order I did them in, the character I played as, his motivations and goals, all of these were different from one another and there were minor similarities between the games at best. This goes to show how replayable these two titles are, even Fallout 3 which is mechanically inferior and has poor world building still has some redeeming qualities to it. This playthru in particular was a fusion of my Fallout 3 and New California playthru, there were some minor crossovers with how I played in my New Vegas playthru(linked above) but for the most part, that character was a blank slate where I made my own backstory, where as protagonists of both Fallout 3 and New California are vault dwellers whose first experience outside was full of chaos and first exposure to the world above were seeing them as dangerous shitholes, so it isn't surprising they both turned out so similar to one another. As a matter of fact, from the roleplaying standpoint, NC and TTW are probably my favorites so far, alongside F3 and London. Modding offers a whole new world of opportunities here as well for both DC and Mojave portions, however I will spare you the details of what mods I installed. After all, everyone has their own preferences.

As far as my playstyle goes, I was still a diplomat first and foremost, and TTW might be where I was able to utilize this build to the fullest. In the DC portion, I used stealth a lot of the time, later brought out the Leadership build to handle enemies, altho that only came into it's fullest in the Mojave Chapter since a lot of the companions I wanted were only available there, leaving me with only 2-3 out of Fallout 2's five party limit in the first half of the game. Meanwhile, when I reached Mojave, I was able to sit back and solve most of my problems non-violently or had my companions kill the enemies for me, this led to a lot of planning and little in the way of resistance as I went around the Mojave, in stark contrast to the dangerous and chaotic Capital Wastes even in the late game(or rather, especially in the late game). My training between all these games prepared me well, so I still had a lot of experience and knowledge from these playthrus fresh in my mind, helping me optimize my game sessions and get the best gear relatively early on. Hardcore Mode introduced need to eat, drink and sleep, making all the food and water items in the Capital Wasteland actually relevant to the moment to moment gameplay. With most food and water in that chapter being irradiated, it makes you appreciate how easy it is to get non-irradiated crops and water in the Mojave, while making it a struggle in the early game(not to mention campfires being a rarity in that portion of the world). Likewise, beds now have a purpose and finding abandoned ruins to sleep in or regularly heading back to homebase is now important, this alongside the combat changes and my personal modifications to the crafting so that nearly every item has turned Fallout 3 into a genuine survival experience. Everything reaches fever pitch when Enclave show up, not only are they doing more damage than when they did in Fallout 3 but their power armor isn't made of cardboard anymore and requires either the rare EMP weapons or heavy duty guns/armor piercing rounds to take down. They are now a proper threat and not just another pack of raiders, the mod went a step further and actually gave them their Fallout 2 power armor back(I modded out their ugly Fallout 3 version and instead occasionally made them wear Combat Armor like they did in Fallout 2, giving them the exact same aesthetic as from that game). I didn't actually fight them that much, since I abandoned the DC portion shortly after they showed up, the reason for that was narrative rather than me being scared of facing them as my character saw the region as a shithole and used this as motivation for moving West. In fact, TTW is a really well written game by accident, normally you would have to fight The Enclave for control of the purifier, but you can just ignore them here and move out into the Mojave to see how much more civilized these parts are and how much of a joke starting a conflict around one water purifier is when most of the water in Mojave is pure by default. Motivated by how awful DC was, the game gives you ample reason to side with the three factions there depending on your outlook: rebuilding the world in pre-war glory so people can live in prosperity as trade is re-established with House(path I took), side with NCR if you believe in power of democracy, rule of law and nation building, or side with Legion if you believe that people are degenerate animals and need to be brought to heel by a stronger presence, in fact TTW offers more reason to side with Legion than base New Vegas ever did. Of course, for those invested in the DC portion who sided with either Brotherhood or Enclave, there is always the Yes Man path which both takes less time to complete than the other three factions(which evens out as you will spend more time in DC) and gives the player more agency, probably so they can use the robot faction to help establish a Brotherhood/Enclave outpost in Mojave after the dust settles. I know none of this was intentional, but it sure beats what Emil had in plan for Fallout 3 originally and makes Lone Wanderer an actually interesting protagonist, possibly the most OP one in the franchise too.

As far as my equipment goes, I learned from my previous playthrus on what works and what doesn't, and so it's a mixture of what I used in my NC/F3/NV runs. Love & Hate continues to be my MVP, it deals with most situations rather well and is available early on after starting Mojave portion, with how leveled the player is at that point they don't even need to grind quests or get any other equipment in order to get it(Spiked Knuckles weren't that much worse and are easily available in the DC portion even in the early game). While most enemies crumble under them, those that don't are dealt with poisons or unarmed moves, most useful ones also being available shortly after starting the Mojave portion. For knockout purposes, I used Cattle Prod early on(I added them manually into the DC portion so that non-violent runs were theoretically possible), however I found a modded in set of Shock Knuckles which both knock enemies to the ground and deal EMP damage later on(balanced out by their lower power, so they are useless against Power Armor). Likewise, a mod added in a Micro Sledge from Fallout Tactics as a one handed equivalent of a Super Sledge for a slow swinging but powerful weapon. Other than that, I used grenades and throwing spears(and similar weapons) liberally, Outcasts in the DC chapter(and Legion in the Mojave chapter) give these to you by the dozens if you bring them junk or dogtags, meanwhile thanks to all the new encounter in the Mojave I was able to simply watch NCR slaughter Legion and collect dozens of spears that way so I could use them on regular bases(something that is nearly impossible in base New Vegas), which made for a fun skill based playthru. The only weapon that fired direct projectiles was my Dart Gun, altho it was a far cry from how overpowered it was in Fallout 3. For one, the darts aren't poisoned, I had to craft poisons manually(I added some new ones so that they were possible to make in DC portion as well) and then dip darts in them, 20 per poison, which only damaged their health and left their limbs intact. This sounds good on paper, a well balanced weapon that can weaken or even kill tough enemies from a distance and much more efficiently than dipping spears or throwing knives into poisons, however my low Guns skill(which was never raised) left the gun swaying all over the place and constantly missing at even medium ranges. Moreover, I think my mouse is dying and it was hard to keep my aim zoomed in thanks to the right button being fucked(not to mention the recent double clicking issue). This last one is my fault, I might get a new mouse for the next playthru. That said, it did make direct combat with the Dart Gun, while possible, a pain the ass and only incentivized me to use CQC weapons, grenades or throwing spears in VATS for an interesting playthru. Of course, that was when I did get involved, once my Leadership build kicked off I mostly initiated combat or acted as close quarter support while my companions eviscerated the enemies from a distance. This is also the first time when playing 3D titles that I used heavy armor, meaning that my movement speed was as slow as it could get and led me to utilize my limited arsenal of ranged weapons more than in my previous playthrus as I closed my distance. Considering how dangerous traveling the overworld was in this run, I think this was a wise choice, altho I did miss how fast I could run up to the enemies and just beat them into submission in my other playthrus. That said, playing as a melee tank for once was immensely satisfying and I am glad I didn't just use the same gear as I did in the previous runs. I already talked about skipping some DLCs and that's precisely why I did it, I could get the Compliance Regulator to stun enemies from afar or Electro Suppressor that combined knockout power with decent melee damage. Getting them was more hassle than it was worth and I enjoyed the quirks of this playthru that I didn't get to experience in my previous ones. Good example of that was clearing Quarry Junction, with Compliance Regulator it was a joke to simply get a sneak critical on the deathclaws and then stomp them to death while they were downed, meanwhile this time around I had to skulk around until I was close enough and fire poisoned arrows at them, hoping that they wouldn't come too close as they were dying from the dipped venom. While kicking a downed Deathclaw Mother to death was funny, seeing her drop from a mile away from one single dart was even better and highlighted the high risk-high reward playstyle I had this run. I am glad Dart Gun doesn't cripple limbs anymore, anyone who used it in Fallout 3 remembers how it infamously makes most enemies like Deathclaws a joke in that game and that's simply not the case here, Deathclaws presented a threat even towards the end of the game and every encounter with them felt like a boss battle(as intended).

There really isn't much else to say that I haven't covered in my earlier posts, as I thought it was the best of all worlds and a mix of various different games all into one. This is easily where my run finally reached it's peak as far as gameplay options and roleplaying went, it feels like the last few runs were just practice for this one. Now, I am moving on to the final Fallout game in this marathon, and one that funnily enough started this whole thing, Fallout 4. I recently installed a new update for it and it seems it fucked some things up, not only am I going to test this build, but I am going to check if everything with the game works out well enough. If it doesn't, I might need to downgrade from an earlier, more stable build from my external hard drive and continue from there, or even start a new game. This run won't be interesting just because of that, but also because Fallout 4 is rather infamously hostile towards diplomat characters, in fact a diplomat playstyle is nearly impossible since Charisma impacts merchant prices and haggling in dialogue almost exclusively. A melee only build is not impossible, but since I won't be using Power Armor, I will be at a heavy disadvantage since melee damage is halved without it(Unarmed, on the other hand, is much better without Power Armor since unarmed weapons are unusable when using it). I already played London, which uses Fallout 4 as a base, but how viable this build is in the base game itself will be interesting to see. Even if the playthru ends up being a disappointment, I can say I enjoyed TTW enough that this playthru alone was worth it, but in a way I am also glad to finally play something else.

Started playing Black after hearing for years how great it was. And I was not disappointed. All the guns feel powerful, there's explosions everywhere, the environmental destruction is impressive for that generation of hardware, and it's just overall a lot of fun.
I couldn't tell you anything about the plot, it's very forgettable and only serves to make the explosions happen. Also the depth-of-field effect that happens every time you reload is ugly and annoying. Maybe it was better on a CRT but it's distracting and I wish I could just disable it.

I see why everyone glazes this game so much. I hope one of these AI script-kiddies who are constantly shitting you recomps do something with this, if it got a proper PC port I would play it again in a heartbeat.

I'm impressed that Criterion was the one that made this game, I wish we got a 7th gen sequel. Instead, from the looks of it, they got locked up in the driving game mines by EA, alongside occasionally helping out with some Battlefield games(the shitty ones). What a waste, they should really make another FPS or at least another Burnout game.

I should let anyone that plans on playing this game know that it was recently censored in order to get it pushed on consoles and to get more mainstream players. If you don't support that sort of thing, I would suggest pirating one of the earlier builds that aren't censored yet, altho I don't know if you can do online coop in that case.

Didn't they completely butcher that game compared to the original? Not to mention make it really easy? There is literally yellow paint telling you where to go, the game might as well be calling you a dumbfuck the entire way thru. The chinaman was also turned white and Cliff's went from being a tragic PTSD case to being a generic grrr evil bad guy who doesn't even shit on commies anymore. There is also glitches and other problems that weren't in the original, I think Crowbcat made a good comparison video.

I haven't played it but I have hundreds of hours in the original, and I honestly can't say I would ever give this one a go, no matter how "solid" the gameplay was. The charm of the original Dead Rising was exactly the jank, if I want a "solid" Dead Rising gameplay experience I would just play 2 or even 3 since those are objectively better action games(even if 3 is really watered down and casualized). Speaking of 2, what are some predictions for how Capcom will fuck that up? Between the awful Resident Evil demakes and Dead Rising demake, I have no hope left.

I think I'm playing the worst game ever made that somehow got enough money, whoever designed this should not touch video games ever again, this is bad, I never played a game that made me this angry, the entire game is hard for the sake of being hard, inta-kill hazards hidden behind particles and environmental art, input lag in every action, frame perfect parry in action game, and somehow this piece of trash has 1k positive reviews on steam, are people that fucking dumb.
>the game is so metal

It should be mandatory to have a Super Mario Maker-esque system where if the developer cannot even beat their own game without dying, then they cannot publish it.

Doing a hard mode playthrough of Dollsnest and it is indeed harder. I just got past the colony outpost boss and it was really bullshit with the seeking missiles boxes fire killing me in a few hits. I had to cheese it by using two melee weapons and frantically running around the arena. I got it though after a few tries.
I still don't have a weapon I really like but sub machine guns feel really good. I say this while using a heavy energy machine gun for my primary because it looks cool. I think I'll upgrade a few other weapons like a non energy smg and a nice shotgun.
My biggest complaint is having to go all the way into the test arena to see what some weapons do or the weapons role not being super clear.
Also the manga is out so I've been reading that.

AWs with gritty, realistic combat graphic depictions.
Alternate reality 2:
The world's military combat is like AWs. When you get shot, you just sort of "Team Rocket" the fuck off into the next state, but are otherwise O.K..

Does Super Mario Maker actually feature that!?
That's pretty cool if so.

I agree, maybe they'll realize that artificial difficulty doesn't make a game more fun.

Yeah, it's a pretty no-nonsense feature, otherwise every little kid and troll would spam levels which would be impossible to finish. This way, the best they can do is publish levels that are NEARLY impossible to finish.

I haven't seen this archetype of people who (pretend to) like hard games AND are obsessed with "taking breaks"/procrastinating on playing those games. What a strange strawman. Are there a lot of posers like that on cuckchan or Shitter or wherever you got that wojack-tier meme from?

Beats me, but it's 20% off now. Maybe I will support the devs for once instead of pirating since I do like that they're trying something new. Well, at least the concept sounds new to me.
