Will be using this month as a stepping stone to refrain altogether. God bless all.

Here have a neat little tune.
If it counts from this moment, 1st of November, then i am continuing.
If you count from the beginning of this day then i failed two hours ago. Heavy drug this thing is, but i think i can do it... at least for a couple of weeks.

Been going strong for 11 months now. Wet dreams don't count since you don't have fully conscious control over them, and it's a mechanism your body uses so your prostate doesn't pop like a balloon. December 4th will be the one year mark.
>>20991
Thanks for the consideration but I'm fine. Things like that haven't worked really well for me.

Best advice I can give to anyone here is to fill the void the addiction fills with something else (love rather than lust for example) preferably something tangible that you can touch and see everyday. Say you have a crush at school or work, do it for her. Or do it for God, if you work at your church or study apologetics or anything of the sorts then do it so you can do those jobs with the highest efficiency. Same thing with hobbies.

Basically fill the void the porn fills with things and people you love and who you don't want to hurt or let down and let that help power you through. And if you feel weak pray to God for strength although from my experiences He may not respond, I guess it depends on your situation and what kind of character He wants you to build.
>>20991
It seems that he makes the point that sexual desire is one thing, and there is biblically nothing wrong with burning with desire for a beautiful woman, but where it becomes sin is when we entertain that desire in and of itself as fantasy or worse fornication. Doug Wilson also has some great videos on this too though they're focused on married life. He posited a scenario where you're on your computer, scrolling when you cross by an ad with a woman in a tight bikini that just happens to fill your screen as your wife enters the room: what do? He said you can either impress and assure her by jumping out of your seat and making a show of shock and indignation at this moral horror, in which case you'll have been a good pharisee by making yourself look really righteous while enabling desire to fester in your soul because you acted like it's a real big deal and that'll leave an imprint in your mind. Or what you could do is brush it off and as he put it "treat it as seriously as it deserves, which is not at all" and turn to your wife and say "isn't this a great country?" before scrolling away like you were going to anyway

The answer is not iron willpower or devotion to an imaginary friend, but right brain chemistry and lack of boredom. I used to fap 3-5 times a day before moving back to parents and sibling, now I have close to no desire as long as I'm not alone. The brain gets happy chemicals from social interaction with family and doesn't need to make up for it, simple as.
A suggestion from personal experience:
confession is a big help.
Now, what I mean by that is not strictly the Catholics' sacramental confession but confession in general (though I feel that may be just as helpful).
I decided at the start of the year that this would be NN2022. I told some beloved friends of mine I had been having this problem and that I would be taking up this task. I have not succeeded in that goal. I failed twice in January and twice in February. Each time, I wrote the date down in a .txt file and told one or more of my friends about it.
Now, in addition to every other motivation, I have the additional motivation that I do not want to let down my beloved friends.
There was one day, more recently, that I spent an amount of time looking at stuff I ought not have been looking at. That night, when I lay in bed, I was unable to control my thoughts. I sent a message to my friend and asked him to pray for me. I told him that, if he prayed for me, I would not fail that night. after what felt like hours, I managed to fall peacefully asleep.

tl;dr tell your loved ones about your problem and hold yourself accountable not just to yourself but also to them
>Confess therefore your sins one to another: and pray one for another, that you may be saved. For the continual prayer of a just man availeth much.

Masturbating just opens you up to the possibility of possession by making you depraved.

True, real question is are angles/demons specially spiritually because technically speaking all demons except for Satan died in the flood and are spirits so what makes them able to posses people and keeps normal spirits from doing so.

I know when people die they go to sheol but what about demons? Revelations seems to mention demons rising from abandon and plaguing humanity so are some let go and others held captive?

Could make for an interesting thread

>Not even a remotely Biblical statement there, friend.
my reasoning for making that claim is that we never see any demons in a physical form past the flood, infact in one of the few instances in which a demon does appear on earth in the bible its in the form of a possession which is spiritual. The only demon which ever seems to appear physically is satan who appears before Jesus to tempt him. Thus my claim.

Not even a remotely Biblical statement there, friend. However, there apparently is a small contingent of them (those who fathered the Nephilm perhaps?) who are already bound and awaiting judgement.[1]

BTW, no spiritual being (either Angelic or Human) "dies" (the way you seem to be implying). We all of us will survive for all eternity. Either in hell, or the New Heavens/New Earth...but it will be eternal.

>>21547
That claim worked out logically seems to be there is literally only 'one' demon, (to wit: Satan), since he is the only one that can be interpreted as having appeared bodily (ie, the serpent in the Garden of Eden). This position is itself clearly non-Biblical, from the first book to the last book.
Replies: >>21563
>>21550
what? How did you come to that conclusion, the Bible mentions other demons before they died (such as the 1/3rd of the angels that fell) we just dont know what happened to them, which considering the only other time they pop up is as spirits leads me to believe they at some point died hence my claim.

revanche!
For posterity,
it is good to not lust and to not masturbate, but please do not base your sanctification on your efforts but rather on the power of God.
Galations 3:3,
>Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh?
Galatians 4:9-11,
>But now, after that ye have known God, or rather are known of God, how turn ye again to the weak and beggarly elements, whereunto ye desire again to be in bondage? Ye observe days, and months, and times, and years. I am afraid of you, lest I have bestowed upon you labour in vain.
It may be good to use resources, if God wills, for you to improve, but please entrust your sanctification to the Lord and not to man's devices, for no change can come about but through God.
Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Amen.

It's hard to be a Christian, many people have a habit of gossip and saying bad things about people with no regard for the truth.

The Catholic Church recognizes habit as a basis of sin. It's still sin tho, it just means that sometimes one does things without thinking, like when I ate meat this morning. I wasn't thinking it was Friday.

'Frequent ejaculation'

Whether it’s from sex, masturbation, or wet dreams, men who ejaculate more appear to be less likely to get prostate cancer. Doctors aren’t sure why it helps, but they think it may help move potentially irritating substances out of the prostate.

Religious context:
Leviticus 15. Short answer - VD containment. Spilling the seed is not a mortal sin as there is no death sentence. Clean up and do penance.

Frequently the Sin of Onan is brought up. (Genesis 38:8-10) God struck down Onan's brother, so Onan was told by Judah to give an heir to his brother's wife.
Without an heir, his brother's wife was doomed to poverty and have no one to care for her in her old age.
Onan did the deed to enjoy himself but deliberately spilled his seed so his brother's widow would not have an heir, thus leaving more for him to inherit.
For that act of greed and lust and wanton disregard for his brother's widow, God struck down Onan.

Both passages have to be correct, they're of the Bible. So, spilling the seed is a venial sin, while the sin of Onan is more than that and a mortal sin. Frequently priest/pastors don't agree with this and want to make it a mortal sin, and they don't explain why God struck down Onan.

Consider now, that Leviticus 15 is about health issues. Which is why I raised the question... Much of the old law is recommendations about health; Cloven hoof and chews the cud? Good to eat. (Cows, goats, etc) Cloven hoof and doesn't chew the cud? Bad to eat (pigs if not cooked right can and usually did give you worms, a heck of a way to die) So... what of the health issues and religious issue here?
>>23158
I guess my message is don't stop going to Church if you can't stop. In and of itself, spilling of the seed, according to Leviticus, doesn't separate us from God like adultery does. It appears to be a venial sin, the way I was taught in Catechism a hundred years ago... (not really 100 years, but pre-Vatican II). That is, if a mortal sin is one that was grave enough to call for a death penalty in the Law of Moses.
The deceptive part is that the recent church forgot to add the part about the death penalty in the law of Moses, and just says "grave sin" and never tells you what is grave and what isn't.

I thought Onan didn't want to go through with it because he felt it was wrong to sleep with his dead brother's wife, especially if they weren't married. Wouldn't that have been a sin as well, since he was sleeping with someone that wasn't his wife?

>I thought Onan didn't want to go through with it because he felt it was wrong to sleep with his dead brother's wife, especially if they weren't married. Wouldn't that have been a sin as well, since he was sleeping with someone that wasn't his wife?

That is the way they did things. They didn't have Social Security back then; when you got old, your children took care of you.
So if your brother died childless, it was up to you to impregnate his wife. Seems strange to our values today, doesn't it? Children were considered a blessing. It was only done if the brother was childless.
The father of the children would be treated like the dead brother's children. So when Judah died, her son would inherit.

It comes from the 'Deuteronomy 25'
5 If brothers are living together and one of them dies without a son, his widow must not marry outside the family. Her husband’s brother shall take her and marry her and fulfill the duty of a brother-in-law to her. 6 The first son she bears shall carry on the name of the dead brother so that his name will not be blotted out from Israel.

They were following the Law of Moses.

Leviticus 15 is talking about involuntary nocturnal emissions (i.e. wet dreams.) Deliberate masturbation, on the other hand, involves lust and adultery of the heart; not to mention the additional sins that using pornography entails.

I don't really understand why some insist that spilling the seed is a mortal sin and not a venial sin, but would also believe divorce, which was condemned by the Lord in the Bible, isn't a sin at all.
Divorce causes all sort of pain and suffering to the put out spouse and the Children, but isn't a mortal sin? It causes harm to other people.
That's upside down thinking. Divorce is serial adultery. Even if you put your wife out for adultery, you can't re-marry. You get the sacrament of marriage only once if your spouse doesn't die.

Masturbation is a sin, but a venial one according to Leviticus. (so people need to stop claiming I said it isn't a sin, it's a VENIAL sin that doesn't damn you to hell).

The Popes did teach that divorce and remarriage is a mortal sin.

Catechism of the Catholic Church:

>Offenses against chastity

>2351 Lust is disordered desire for or inordinate enjoyment of sexual pleasure. Sexual pleasure is morally disordered when sought for itself, isolated from its procreative and unitive purposes.
>2352 By masturbation is to be understood the deliberate stimulation of the genital organs in order to derive sexual pleasure. "Both the Magisterium of the Church, in the course of a constant tradition, and the moral sense of the faithful have been in no doubt and have firmly maintained that masturbation is an intrinsically and gravely disordered action."137 "The deliberate use of the sexual faculty, for whatever reason, outside of marriage is essentially contrary to its purpose." For here sexual pleasure is sought outside of "the sexual relationship which is demanded by the moral order and in which the total meaning of mutual self-giving and human procreation in the context of true love is achieved."
https://www.vatican.va/archive/ENG0015/__P85.HTM

>2394 Christ is the model of chastity. Every baptized person is called to lead a chaste life, each according to his particular state of life.
>2395 Chastity means the integration of sexuality within the person. It includes an apprenticeship in self-mastery.
>2396 Among the sins gravely contrary to chastity are masturbation, fornication, pornography, and homosexual practices.

Yes. That's from Wojtyła's catechism.

Spilling the seed is a venial sin in the Catechism of Trent, citing Leviticus as I have been doing. Wojtyła's catechism says mortal. Both cannot be right and both cannot be Catholic. Catholic Popes are infallible (never wrong) and indefectible (never changes).

If the Council of Trent is wrong, then the Church fell when it was held, then the Church today has no legitimacy.
If the Council of Trent is right, then the Church today is not the Church of Jesus Christ.

Considering all the blasphemy that Wojtyła committed as Pope, by equating the true Triune God in Three Persons of God the Father Almighty, Jesus Christ our Lord and only son of the Father, and the Holy Ghost to some pagan moon god that tells its followers to burns churches and murders nuns and priests, it should be clear that we should reject his false Catechism and sick with the Bible and the Council of Trent.

Wojtyła's beliefs have a lot more in common with Freemasonry than Catholicism. He was big on the blasphemous belief that all religions were a path to heaven. Why would you even be Catholic then?

As a Catholic who was baptized two years ago it grieves me greatly. Novus Ordo Catholics are worse than most secular people or the same at the bare minimum. I cannot associate with these people and Novus Order feels like this church was founded 60 years ago, which it was.

Frankly, before I became Catholic I never thought of masturbation as mortal sin. As sin, yes, but mortal sounded outlandish to me and I bet priests are tired of hearing those confessions over and over. In the Middle Ages people were not that puritanical but also not as perverse.

The only thing that holds me is the rich tradition, history, rituals and saints. You find better communities in Orthodox or Baptist churches.

Yeah, the Novus Ordo. Most Catholics (as in better than 2/3rd) attending the Novus Ordo Mass (NOM in graphic) don't even know they're not Catholic.
The Novus Ordo Priest commit the sin of sacrilege every time they give the Holy Eucharist to someone who doesn't believe the Catholic faith. No abortion, no homosexual "marriage"
And I find the words "The Latin Mass" to be Cringe. There are two real masses said in Latin, the Tridentine Mass and the Dominican Mass. There could be more, but there are at least two.
Many don't even go to the Tridentine mass from the unchanged Roman Missal. They go to Bugnini's changed 1964 mass.

I donno. I'm going by the Bible when I say Masturbation is a venial sin. Clean up, do penance, and you're forgiven.

Yeah, and I wonder about these priest that try and find out who you are when you do the Sacrament of Penance (aka confession). From the old catechism, they not supposed to do that and for good reason; it tempts the one giving confession to omit sins in confession, and it tempts the priest who hears it to take part in their sin. For example, I know for a fact that there are a lot of women out there who lust after priests. They confess it. Because they don't observe anonymity and ask for details as to how old you are, married or not, etc, they can often figure out who's tempted to such a sin.

When you are Chad, and likely even if you are not, women are tempted to corrupt you, to conquer and eat you as the forbidden fruit. When you are a pure and chaste man a rotten woman is more than glad to destroy you, pull you down to her misery.

I had a half-wet dream last night. By the Lord's mercy, I was able to wake up, interrupt the flow and rush to the bathroom. I've had these dreams before, but this time the demonic oppression was very, very evident, trying to force me to give in to the act. I imagine that the oppression will become more insistent, not so much because of NNN, but the Advent. Just remember that temptation and oppression are not sins, and stay strong! Let us pray for each other at all times and, God willing, banish this sin from our lives.

Lord Jesus, have mercy on us brothers on this thread, let us sanctify ourselves and be counted among your own at the end of time, with the Father and the Holy Spirit.

To be fair since you're not fully conscious during a wet dream and have no control over it it doesn't count as a sin. In fact it's actually a biological function to expel excess semen if you're not having sex.

I failed this Tuesday's morning too. Woke up before the alarm clock, picked up my phone, started browsing half-asleep; twenty minutes later, I had sinned.

I lack the drive to face it like a battle, I'm just dragging my feet along the way... and then complaining about it online. I guess most of the time is not that bad? But when I'm at a low point I feel it's always been like this, even when it hasn't, and that discouragement makes me sink deeper.

I should get some kind of filter for my phone.

the reason it feels worse when you fail is because you tell yourself that you're not going to fail day after day, only to do it again. it's the feeling that you're a weak-willed excuse of a human that hurts more than the actual sin.

Oh, absolutely, you've hit the nail in the head. When I fall I'm hurt in my pride, and the idea of being a lowly coomer is way more painful than the thought of rejecting Christ. Until I purge out that pride, I'll keep falling. Funny how pride often takes the form self-pity instead of arrogance.

I think it's because it is a disease that has a dependency on loneliness. If you always had company and couldn't get away from it, then the reason you'd want to escape them and masturbate is because the company is lacking in some way, whether that is romantic or by some other means. But I think that so long as you aren't lonely, you won't have this masturbation addiction.

Call it a bag of chemicals hypothesis or these simple means to excuse us, but I want to know why I'm compelled to do these things so I can figure more effective ways to get out. Oxytocin is a love addiction that stems from being deprived and the worst of the withdrawl seems worse than a bereavement.

I'm not sure this man has experienced it. I want to know if he's ever experienced the breakdown of a romantic relationship, for example, or if he has experience with coaching desperate men on how to recover from things like this.

It's hard. It's like all the magic you had in your life is lost, but the thing that you loved was just a proportion of your brain that you were in love with, misleading you and blinkering you, wherein what is real or what is fake can't be discerned and wherein fixing a problem with your brain chemistry is not something that can be so easily done.

He reminds me of Peter Hitchens when he talks about addiction. You need to have personally had a ride beforehand; to know just how much you've been used to having a poisoned reality, how a world without it is physically impossible if it's manufactured within your own brain, and how you've regulalry poisoned yourself with it so often it has altered all your memories and experiences and interactions for all your life.

I may just take the "Abilify", you know. Relationships are such haunting things to the point that I'd see me self-sabotaging my only way out of this. I don't even regret the experiences I've had but man Limerence and Oxytocin addiction is a lust-gluttony it's not right to have carried.

Oh yes. Part of the reason the "EasyPeasyMethod" is kind of hard to read through, is because despite getting so many things right (like the DeltaFosB protein), it gets an equal amount of things wrong.
I _want_ to quit, and am quite successful when I remember who's behind making the Greek word for adultery (p*rnographia) free.
If something is "free", especially if it's widespread, chances are something's seriously wrong. And another thing; I was only ever interested in soft pron (not that I ever wanted to start getting addicted, some disgusting pedo hag indoctrinated me at school to believe it was "normal", lmao), and like 99% of what I saw in my life were static, anime/fanart images, even when I first got into it (though it was more real women in the first 2-3 years). And I'm a NEET and (like most people on here) NOT an atheist, so the book is kind of hard to read since I can't relate to a lot of what it's saying.

It's still a book with (what seems to be) good intentions, don't get me wrong, it's just hard to read through a lot of the jumping to conclusions about the reader that it does (of which only like 50% of it is right, so far). I'm not going to give up reading it, just giving some criticisms of it.
