So what? it's a Christian board first, just because it's almost dead doesn't mean we should compromise our belief system to bring in users who don't care about Christian values. How hard is it to enjoy wholesome anime.

Oxymoron. It's all about lust. Every image is some young female "wafu" or whatever you call it. I guess there's also the femboys...

There are more differences between protestant religions than between many Catholic and more conservative protestant religions e.g. Anglican and Catholic, yet all the hate, bile is directed towards the catholics.
Seems odd to me.
I was just reading how the Methodist were splitting off a Sodomites branch. Even Novus Ordo Catholics haven't done that yet, tho Begoglio has come close.

What a closed minded statement, there is always lost people looking for answers who may not have heard the established answers. Prot vs catholic infighting is discouraged and usually hijacked by trolls trying to make either side look bad.
>It's crazy how you fundies self sabotage, no wonder the marginalized folk are leaving the faith.
Yes, Christianity (one of the largest religions in the world) is dying so we should vapidly whore ourselves out and compromise our values to the liberal youth.
>How can you sleep at night knowing that because of your bigotry we lose believers to the accursed mohammadeans.
lol bigotry? This is not about anime on a Christian image board. It doesn't matter if only one person believes in Christianity, what matters is that we're right.

As opposed to what some sharia-tier interpretation of OT, wake up anon! This is not the bronze age, nor the middle ages, if you don't reinterpret the text to suit the changing world, all you are doing is alienating the christian youth/converts.

"Royal Space Force: The Wings of Honneamise" is not a directly Christian anime, but the worldview and message it promotes is very blatantly compatible with Christianity.

The main character starts out as a listless, hedonic loser; a member of his nation's space force, which is a sad joke of an organization. Until he comes across a woman passing out gospel tracts for her religion. Though it is a made up religion for a fictional universe, it becomes very apparent that said religion is effectively a "original religion, do not steal" of Christianity. The protagonist starts hanging out with her and her son more, and eventually volunteers to become the first man in space through the space program that was once a laughingstock.

In the beginning, it's fairly obvious that his primary motivation is trying to get in the pants of the woman evangelist whom he fancies, as she expresses admiration for the potential of the space program. However, as he gets deeper into his training, his commitment becomes sincere, and he begins to change from his time with her as well as reading her religious literature which convicts him of the depravity of mankind and need for a savior. Things especially heats up as a neighboring rival nation begins attempting to sabotage the space program and assassinate him.

Without spoiling too much, the woman's faith is truly manifested in her forgiveness of him, and he does a prayer to God near the end.

The animation, aesthetics and world building were also revolutionary for their time. It came out one year before Akira, and it's quality is comparable.

There are some minor questionable elements (I would probably give it a PG-13 rating,) but overall, I think it would be a good edifying watch for a Christian.

One-pound Gospel is an 80's OVA adaptation of a manga series written and illustrated by Rumiko Takhashi. (At the time of creation the manga wasn't finished yet)

It follows the character Kōsaku who wants to become a good pro boxer, but his appetite (gluttony) holds him back. Into the picture comes the novice nun sister Angela who personally tries to help Kōsaku and set him on the right path by breaking his bad habit.

While the show's main focus isn't Christianity (Catholicism specifically in this case), it is certainly an important element of the story and character development. Besides it being somewhat rare that Christianity is actually being shown, it's also done so in a positive image.

Definitely a fun anime to checkout.

Reminder that even "spiritual" movies like "Ben Hur" are wicked Jewish propaganda.
Pontius Pilate found no fault in Christ, and had to sacrifice Christ because of the threat that Jewish lies would start a war in Judea resulting in many dead on both sides, and the Jewish lies to the emperor would get Pilate killed as well. Pilate had no choice, as Christ pointed out.
The movie Ben Hur put all the sin and wickedness on the Romans and made the Jews the victims; pure propaganda and a Jewish lie.

I don't view this manga stuff. The Japanese, God bless them, seem to have a strange idea of Christianity.

That's clearly a hyperbole, but even then, that's still a gorillion times more Christian than whatever shit is on Netflix
>>"Talk about WHOLESOME shows and WHOLESOME cute waifus" while discussing the inherently degenerate concept of waifuism
"Waifu" doesn't necessarily have to imply loving a fictional character like a real human like a schizo. It can just mean a female character that you like as a character, nothing more.
>and posting a show with a child "nun" getting disrobed in the first episode to appeal to porn addled degenerates
Nowhere OP said that that particular anime is wholesome, the picture might've probably been used because that particular picture was cute and wholesome. Not to mention that you might be misinterpreting or decontextualizing the scene you mentioned.

I'm not the original poster, but...
I can find multiple sources referencing it. I don't think that this is the most heavily publicized part of the authors person.

If you need more proof than that, then I don't know what to give you except for a description of Trigun itself. Vash the Stampede, the main protagonist, actively chooses to avoid resorting to violence whenever possible, and one of the other protagonists is literally a priest. It's not a bad show.
https://archive.is/iCOFg#selection-593.0-593.231
Before the release of the popular manga, Trigun, Nightow studied Roman Catholicism, and converted, 'while retaining many Buddhist principles.' Yasuhiro reportedly enjoys toy collecting, nori (in all its forms), and abhors avocados.

Interesting. Father told me I needed to toss this little buddha I got because it reminded me of the one my Brother brought back from Japan. But my brother became a Methodist, and I have no idea if they allow such things.

The position of the Catholic Church is that all animals have souls, just not immortal ones.

I figured I would leave my 2 cents on this topics, reading stories and and the such today can be hard, especially when all the grey morality trends going on today with story telling whether from the east or the west, my recommendation for reading would be finding those stories that uphold good and show the consequences of or reject evil, or even tales about the human experience in a hopeful light. As always pray that God gives you wisdom in your choice of book or anime or whatever medium of storytelling you choose to go down. My recommendation would be Ashita No Joe, this one falls more down the human experience in a hopeful light category. So, what are you watching? For me, it's the Is it wrong to try to pick up girls in the dungeon series. The premise involves greek gods descending to the lower realm to be among humans, form familias and alleviate their boredom. There's no proselytizing, so there's nothing to dislike about this from a christian standpoint, really. The stories mostly revolve around Bell, the main character, who's a young boy, growing and maturing, his beloved goddess, hestia, infighting and drama between the various gods and their families and exploration of a nearby, massive dungeon with monsters. It's cute, well-written and has pretty artwork and interesting, likeable characters. Can recommend. I'll add a warning, though, about 14 y/o bell attracting a harem of late teens and early twenties girls who wind up falling in love with him. The whole thing has never gone beyond them blushing and competing for his attention and affection, at least thus far. With one or two exceptions, they're all virgins and have pure intentions.

Neurotic: "abnormally sensitive, obsessive, or anxious"
That use of such a derogatory word with a negative denotation to describe Christians who have stronger convictions than your own, and do not wish to consume as much worldliness as you personally might, possibly shows some level of subconscious insecurity about the value of your own faith

When? If you give me a month/year I might be able to find the thread in an archive!
Post numbers, URL, screencaps, the words of the OP, anything!
We don't link to other imageboards, especially 4chan, and especially if you know there's porn in that thread.

I frankly prefer the overall tone of the 2001 TV series to the subsequent OVAs, even if the plot was weaker. The OVAs felt a bit too much like a slightly grislier JoJo's Bizarre Adventure for my liking.

After looking at the sources, you wouldn't want those anime girls as Christian waifus..

>Where does this dull=good mentality come from? Is it just an American thing?
Whatever its origin (I have my suspicions, but can't speak decisively on that yet), it kneecaps a lot of Christian art and stories. We shun the honesty, difficulty, and sheer symbolic power of our scripture's stories and the literature of our Christian ancestors, and for what? Boring stories about milquetoast people who experience bland mockeries of everyday things and commit not-too-offensive sins to receive either a plot-mandated salvation or a moralistic punishment.
Granted, things seem to have been getting a bit better lately, as the sheer state of the world has been forcing Christians out of our cultural ghetto lately, and films like Father Stu and Sound of Freedom are likely a step in the right direction. I suspect Jonathan Pageau and the Symbolic World people will end up having a lot of good influence, even if God's'Dog has been disappointing so far, and I'm interested to see what the future holds.

Why would you want a show without romance? Keep in mind that anime romance typically doesn't even involve kissing.

I've never seen it but I thought, based on the premise you described, why is it called "Hellsing"?

It's a reference to the character in Dracula and, in-universe, the name of the Anglican-affiliated organization dedicated to hunting vampires.
>>26069
Reference to Bram Strokers' Dracula, one of the main characters is the great (or great-great) granddaughter of one of the leads from the book (Abraham Van Helsing).

I personally like both on the same level for their different strengths, the 2001 adaptation while being it's own thing due to the show catching up to the manga while it was still being written is still an nice somber take on the source material. The focus on Seras struggling to not become a full vampire was also a good plotline the show writers added. Then there is the OVA which is such a top tier and faithful adaptation of the manga, that very few have come gotten to it's level of animation quality (they did take a very long time animating every episode). Lastly a strength they both share is the music, while me personally I prefer the OST's from the 2001 adaptation due to it's wonderful mix of jazz and somber western tunes. However that grand orchestral direction of the OVA's is amazing (Monster of God being a favorite of mine from the OVA OST)
If the anime you're watching causes you to sin (which it probably will since most of it is sexualized), then stop watching it, because you will be demonized by the sin you're practicing.
Weren't anime the medias were they depicted Nuns as maiden that lust and have sex like whores?

Hey I'm one of those anons with neurosis, anon
I just tend to tank insults though... it's not like there isn't an unholy social experiment being performed on every subsequent generation from the boomers onwards and occassional anxiety is a sane and rational result of it in my eyes.

A thousand times Hajime no Ippo
It's not a pacifist show at all mind but it's sporting combat, death tends to lurk in combative sport but doesn't get a foot through the door generally in the show, there's some slapstick homo-misunderstandings among young men that isn't there to promo- bumming or anything, and the romantically explorative remains something only naive and stupid, meaning women generally stay out of the way and never really step into being an important plot hanger

There's also another one... it's called (remembering...) ... Time of Eve. The series, not the abridged movie. It's got robo-transumanism talking points within it. Death isn't a thing pursued. There are romantic relations, bizarre ones exhibited between the show's robotry but it's not about finding a lay or pleasures of the flesh particularly it basically illustrates the diverging flowchart for where humanity *could* go with its machines, and prompts you to ask what that might/ought to look like. It's on the whole a well-meaning show. Also the cafe background it's set within makes use of CGI shorthanding which ordinarily is jarring in things like Family Guy or Initial D or something but they took the time to blend it subtlely and feels like they just did it better.

Forgive the gooks
Claiming first possession of purity being a satisfying thing is within our blood and in theirs as well. That they're spoken for by God first to me is bizarre because I'm not a Catholic nor have their standards, but also it gives them ("sexy nuns") that extra forbidden temptation. I entirely get the appeal. But then I've also not removed myself from sin entirely, heaps of work to do in that regard.

>I get the appeal
People try and explain fetishes a lot, but I think ultimately the real reason why people have any fetish is simply this: We all, due to the sin nature, have the desire to exploit anything around us for our own gratification. It just manifests differently depending on a variety of factors.

Things have been pretty slow since /Christian/ moved here but I don't want this thread to end so I'm going to recommend another anime.
Phantom: Requiem for the Phantom is one of the best anime I've ever seen. I don't want to give spoilers but the story is about characters who have their memories erased and are forced to become assassins for a criminal organization.
As the story develops, many things are questioned such as freedom, the meaning of life, forgiveness and others, I hope you give it a chance

I think I'm long overdue for a rewatch of that one. It was one of my favorites when I got into anime while I was still in high school.
The theme of Madoka Magica reminds me of Matthew 16:23. But is such anime ok? Is it respectful enough? I worry that it isn’t.
