They use a mask of "be nice" to get away with being two-faced and talking bullshit that's supposed to "keep the peace." Every time it gets found out and blows up in their faces it just proves to them more why being conflict-avoidant and hiding shit is the way to go. It's a vicious cycle of retardation, fakeness, and fragile egos. In a system like that, being the honest person means being the person who busts the whole game wide open and forces some accountability from people who are deathly allergic to it, not even because you're actively doing it but because if your honesty has to be compared to their bullshit they know, even if only subconsciously, that it's only a matter of time until they get found out and confronted with some shit, so you're considered a threat to them.
