I was reading a linguistic theory and he mentioned that he believed that the proto-Saharan people (which he contended were the progenitor of a bunch of language families) were matriarchal and matrilineal in nature. 
A lot of historians claim that paleo-Europeans were matriarchal peaceniks for some reason. Probably because they got curb-stomped by the Indo-Europeans.

And they're wrong, because the paleogenetic evidence shows the opposite. Burials will include a bunch of males with shared somatic and Y-DNA because they're from a single line, and females pulled in to be wives with DNA lineages from elsewhere.
