being a low effort copycat is easy, just look at so many cliche tropes like tsuntsun-zero-dere. Usually copycats don't even know why the original idea was good either so they can't even copycat correctly. There are plenty of creative nips but they have to compete in a sea of safe ideas that publishers like, waiting for a lucky break. Best chance is to be the next One, even if Murata's influence has been detrimental to the story, One Punch Man is still a great example of a success story - and One prefers Mob Psycho anyway which got a faithful anime.
