I admit to reading (the light novel) and watching S&W in impressionable age, but I really don't get how you don't get interested in comfy pilgrimage of traveling merchant with cute wolf girl in vaguely middle age Europe, besides being completely turned off by setting. I think first 2-3 volumes of light novel and first season of anime are great and land with a lot of people.

I utmost fear that the remake will be inferior to the original, and I really do not like the new character designer. Something about new Horo looks very off to me.

They changed the eyes from brown to red and then changed the bangs to be whiter to bring even more attention to the eyes. The previous holo was a normal kemomimi, the new one is just two red dots that kind of has a face around it. 
I don't know why they went with that. It can look good in a couple scenes but if you're doing it all the time it's just going to feel wrong. 
Also, I'm pretty sure that 4th frame is CG, which is always a sign of QUALITY in anime.

The LN clearly states that she came back from him completely unharmed. If I had to guess what happened between them two, is that the big bad wolf got upset about Horo stepping into his territory with Lawrence (a mere human). There's also a good chance that he confronted her because he wanted to shame Horo for associating with a human despite being a wolf goddess. Either way, what actually happened is open to the reader's interpretation, but if she did really get raped by him, then we definitely would've see signs of that mentioned in the story (which there are zero).
In short, it's just the usual three-letter subhumans simply projecting their fetishes onto others.
