I love Teagan! You love Teagan! It's time for Uncommon Time! The UT Summer Stream is almost here anons, and I hope to see you there. Everyone will be there including smug, sleepy, moe, and a bunch of other sites ready to shitpost about a horrible rpgmaker game made a mentally ill fujoshi. This will mark the 11th annual stream and here's hoping for many more.
[Stream Location]
https://cytu.be/r/uncommontime
[Stream Times]
2pm US CST/CDT
8pm London
10pm Moscow
Paris 9pm
New York 3pm
San Fran 12pm
Tokyo 4am
Brazil 4pm
This schedule could change at any moment given the nature of Hostfag's fickle nature. If I'm unable to host I will try and find another host if possible, and if you show some interest in hosting UT I can help you set up OBS and maybe find a decent streaming site.
[Questions and concerns]
>Where is the stream
https://cytu.be/r/uncommontime
>When is the stream
Read the post above dummy!
>is uncommon time good?
In short no. In long noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
>Who's best girl
A tan celtic tomboy.
>Is Meirin really a slut?
Yes.
>will I be able to watch even if my internet is shit?
I try to keep the stream bandwidth relatively low so that even anons in brazil, russia, europe, or japan can watch without much trouble. The only way to know for sure is to come to the stream yourself.

[Closing Statements]
Remove Alto! Teagan did nothing wrong.
And like an idiot I forgot to post the days for the stream.
AUG 1ST THROUGH AUG 9TH
You guys make me angry when there's a gamenight on and you're watching this visual novel.

awful rpgmaker game with worse than awful writing by a deranged leftist cunt, with 1 or 2 noteworthy moments overhyped to death during the months before the actual stream and throughout the course of the run. the game is all rpgmaker stock trash with no custom assets or mechanics bar the main characters cg and art, oh and the difficulty is set to insane-o mode so it takes 6 gorillon hours of grinding cockatrices and other such generic monsters to advance to the next bit of the "plot".
>>313330
So what, anons get together annually to watch someone play an awful RPG maker trashheap for 10 years now? Not sure if that's my cup of tea, but I might watch it if I have time.
>>313330
No spoilers!
>>313335
That's part of it, but it's really Imageboard Thanksgiving. Twice a year, whether you're a smugtard or you grab turds directly out of Mark's asshole or whatever the fuck, if you're part of the 8chan diaspora you can come to the UT stream and shoot the shit like all of that doesn't matter. It's honestly heartwarming.
Also, Uncommon Time has been an enduring font of OC generation for all this time. We've got two fangames, a WIP remake which promises to be at least as lulzy, the Duet mod (which is the real reason it's still worth suffering through vanilla after 10 years), at least 100 quality Teagan pics, and more stuff I can't even think of right now. Anon's Bizarre Adventure was made as a direct reaction to UT. Peripeteia was developed by anons who originally got together for a UT project that fell through. UT is such a perfect storm of SJW insanity and bad design that it becomes a lightning rod for anon's inherent drive to spin shit into gold.

>the difficulty is set to insane-o mode so it takes 6 gorillon hours of grinding cockatrices and other such generic monsters to advance to the next bit of the "plot".
This was the biggest issue that prevented me from ever watching a full playthrough; it's an asinine notion to respect the difficulty of something obviously designed poorly by an idiot.

I remember one anon went to great trouble to rebalance the game and make it at least somewhat playable, but the OP (is it the same guy making these threads for the last decade?) disregarded his efforts and stonewalled him because it wasn't "the original vision" or something equally autistic.
Replies: >>313341
>>313340
This is a lie and you are retarded. Every year since like 2017 UT stream has been played using the Duet mod which cuts down on the grind as much as possible without taking the massive effort to rebalance the stock RPGM enemies. It's also not the same guy, at least four different assholes have done UT stream over the years.
Replies: >>313345
Oh and while I'm being dangerously autistic: you're not expected to watch all of vanilla these days, because frankly there is a lot of dead time. But it's still worth watching when you have spare time because there's a lot to laugh at buried in there, leaving aside the part where you actually get to talk with other people who have the same kind of autism. The current streamer is also an absolute madman who cam get through the game in three or four days of streaming through sheer force of autism.

in a nutshell, yes. I frankly find it rather ridiculous that people decided to latch onto such a terrible product, cock balls and torture themselves every single year watching a random knobhead's playthrough of it, and make oc upon oc about it. all "ironically" of course, because it's an open secret everyone agrees on that the "game" is straight up trash fire that hardly deserves to be glanced at. and it's kinda baffling that they chose it instead of, you know, something that's genuinely good. always seemed like a big energy investment directed in the complete wrong direction.
Replies: >>313345
>>313341
Interesting. I could have sworn there was a guy who shut down the notion of using a mod (the phrase "duet mod" is tinglingly familiar) but I guess there was a different mod or something that I got it conflated with.

Aside from the fangames which >>313338 mentioned, the commentary provided by anons is entertaining, observant and provocative in the best possible way. Academics, journalists and youtubers wish they were as smart. Or maybe they wish they lived in a world where they would be allowed to be as smart and get paid for it. Or maybe sky is green.

For those who might find the dismissal of FeralPhoenix as an insane jewish tumblr leftist lesbian nonbinary nutcase with daddy issues being distasteful: relax, there is no need to be offended. The bashing of FeralPhoenix is just one of the many running jokes of a typical Uncommon Time stream. FeralPhoenix, despite a controversial creator at first glance, has accomplishments that are wide and numerous. A modern day polymath (perhaps poly in other ways, too), FP has contributed to numerous fields of art in addition to game design: digital art, fiction and music, which brings us to the next paragraph:

One of the key themes of Uncommon Time is, unsurprisingly, music. Again, without spoiling too much, UT contains an original melody both composed and performed by FeralPhoenix herself, a deceptively unassuming but a haunting tune which has earned its place among iconic pieces such as Goodbye Horses, Basement Theme, Dueling Banjos and the entire portfolio of Erik Satie. Skilled musicians play an instrument, but a true artist plays the listener's soul. FeralPhoenix, of course, does both.

The biggest catalyst for creation of great art has always been the sudden realization of "I can do that!" and more importantly, "I can do better than that!" We may never know which thought inspired mrs. Phoenix to create Uncommon Time, but we know how her game (and other works of similiar quality) has inspired and will inspire other artists for aeons to come. Perhaps the final piece of insight regarding Uncommon Time can be gleamed from Shakespeare's Julius Caesar, Act 4, Scene 2:
"BRUTUS: ...
But hollow men, like horses hot at hand,
Make gallant show and promise of their mettle;
But when they should endure the bloody spur,
They fall their crests, and, like deceitful jades,
Sink in the trial."

The challenge in this declaration of contempt fueled the fires in which Uncommon Time was created, and it is this challenge which the game presents the player with. Ave, FeralPhoenix. Nomen est omen, said the ancient Romans, and they were right.

I hope all you anons had fun watching Alto getting punched through the chest by her best friend. Don't forget I will streaming an encore of CODA+Duet Saturday August 8th for anyone who missed it at the regular time so mark it on your calendars. Good night and sweet dreams.
I do find it funny that whatever amount of anons could come together and do a rewrite for a shit game that's actually decent and endearing.
Now imagine if instead they used that drive to make an actual game...

That was Peripeteia initially, and as >>313338 mentioned it not coincidentially came out of anons meeting through a UT fangame. It's where this set of Teagan faces came from, and why the earliest Marie concept art floating around is by Eltonel.

As for the fangame, TL;DR bits and pieces of its wider beyond-Harmonia setting and soundtrack made their way into a game jam project called Die Totenmaske. It wasn't very widely known, although I've heard it may have had a bit of influence on Fear and Hunger, and the guy who became Peripeteia's UI artist apparently played it as a teenager.

Who here would be interested in working on an "Anon's Bizarre Adventure" spinoff? It would still be in RPG Maker and function similarly where anons contribute. Except the scope of this one will be much smaller and more organized with some rules to follow so that we can give it a proper timeline.

I don't really regret my time on imageboards because they have brought me great joy and UT is one of of those things, but for years now UT has been the only thing. It doesn't mean I'm done with imageboards for the rest of my life, but I do need to grow in the many areas I have neglected before coming back to them. I think it is also important to nourish the things that I love and UT is definitely included on that list.
