Main Show on June 5th at 2PM PT / 5PM ET / 9:00 PM UTC+0
Event from June 5th to June 8th, but usually a few publisher presentations in the days beforehand

<but all the games these days are shit
We know you bedeviled cynic + it's fun to jump into a watchalong and laugh at the trainwreck. This is not a festival, it's a circus.

Publishers attending haven't been announced yet, but probably will in the coming days / week. In the mean time, if you wanna make a few Squilliams or work on a bingo card of your predictions, here's a thread for it.

Funny you should say that because the "next gen" update fucked things up for everyone. I mostly played it on ps4 and it is unplayable. When i made a new playthrough i crashed maybe like 8 times yet in the past i played for years and had maybe 3 in total.

They were already saying that nearly 3000 years ago:
>The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be;
>And that which is done is that which shall be done:
>And there is no new thing under the sun.

>Is there any thing whereof it may be said,
>See, this is new?
>It hath been already of old time,
>Which was before us.

I would be happy for this if it wasn't for the fact that every talented developer left CDproject right after W3 and now CDpr is full of divershitty hire.
So that expansion will be probably end up being shit and probably add niggers and faggots (hopefully not)
>>309370
>Funny you should say that because the "next gen" update fucked things up for everyone. I mostly played it on ps4 and it is unplayable. When i made a new playthrough i crashed maybe like 8 times yet in the past i played for years and had maybe 3 in total.
That is a testament of how nobody talented is left at CDproject.
Those who used to say that CDpr would have been better as a smaller studio and that getting big would have been their downfall were 100% right.

Yeah i knew when cyberpunk 2077 came out there was no coming back to the CDPR of old unless they did a mass firing, and hired less people inclined to lie directly to your face with a 48 minute "demo" that was just fake.

More specifically the ultra-retards that managed to get fired from Bioware after Mass Effect Andromeda. Just hoovered those cunts up like they were getting a good deal then they demanded Gwent and Cyberpunk be remade from the ground up to suit them, killing both games in the process

Boy am I glad I didn't bother watching it this year.
so far i tried out the Maximum Thunderness demo, it's honestly a pretty simple game that i'm almost certain is designed for the steam deck because stages are incredibly short, yet at the same time tight. i feel like this puts a bit of a bandage over the rougelite issue of feeling the slowness after you've just had a high of zooming all around the stage with a super shotgun.
honestly it's fairly simple but stylish and it's nothing to complain about
Konami keeps outsourcing their games to western devs. They learned nothing from the 7th gen. New Castlevania looks like garbage and will flop

The sad thing is it's entirely because of line go up investor pressures that they've chosen to sell out so completely. They still have gazillions in cash on hand saved up from the Wii days they could use to just ride out the current shitshow, take some actual risks or even bribe the Diet to pass crippling restrictions on foreign investment in entertainment that would starve out their competitors. But the line must go up and everyone with the clout to make the board sit down and shut up is dead, so we get to watch nutendo sell its vital organs to baby eaters while accomplishing nothing of value.

As a self-professed magician, you know that attempts to curse people ultimately hurt the giver of the curse more than his target. I've seen this happen. In the most extreme case, a young man utterly destroyed his own life for several months, and all he really got in return was making two people he didn't like get nosebleeds at the same time.

Additionally, Ninten also has Mario ($9.74 billion), numerous other far healthier IP's (Legend of Zelda, Animal Crossing, Smash, Kirby etc), their own hardware platform (currently the highest selling platform of 9th Gen by a huge margin / double the PS5, and a strong head-start into 10th Gen), with it's own storefront that they take a cut from every sale on (30% off of every eShop sale), and have an inordinate amount of national loyalty from the Japanese (and political legislators)', as well as an infamously cultishly loyal fanbase.
You're a fucking mouthbreathing retard if you think Ninten is going anywhere anytime soon. With the exception of Steam / Valve being unnaturally high-margin competitor (the second highest income-per-employee of any corporation on Earth in history, only recently knocked off of #1 by OnlyFans being ran by an even smaller office of jews), they're one of the strongest and most resilient media corporations today. They could rot on the vine and be drained by jews at the maximum rate like Yidsney has for the last decade and they'd still be a juggernaut in 25years, just off of where they are now.

New Xenoblade, but looks more like they wanted to copy Fire Emblem Three Houses. Remaking OoT because it is in their emergency list of print money games. Fire Emblem but remains to be seen if any better then dogshit from previous game. Some bullshit and pointless timed events across their games. Also Duskbloods exist but FromSoft wasn't paid enough to care.

The theme in all three events was that each could deliver games, more specifically, 3rd party games. The actualy number of 1st party Microsoft's laughable "console exclusive" when still releasing on PC doesn't count games were tiny compared to the overall number of 3rd party. The problem is that all three went retard in slightly differing ways where for all the many teams they have under them, they fucked thenselves over and can'y make games fast enough.

The only real benefit is that Switch 2 runs 99% of Switch 1 games better so even if it is a locked framerate, it runs consistently. There are exceptions, but Nintendo has been fixing most of them. I know one of the Deadly Premonition games had slowdowns that were baked into the code and the Switch 2 fucks with those and makes the sections unplayable.
Other then that, the Switch 2's lineup is worse then the Switch. The only saving grace of the Switch was that no one owned a Wii U and so all the ports were new games.
The biggest issue is the game keycard bullshit. People who buy digitally do not want to have physical carda they have to use and those who buy physically do not want what is basically a download code on a card. Nintendo has been too slow, likely on purpose, to push for smaller then 64GB cartridges. It sounds like there are smaller cartridges, but majority 3rd party opt for the game key card.

Smash was intentionally designed as just a party game, it succeeds just at being a party game, it will always be just a party game.

Nintendo is no more guilty for tourneytards pretending Smash is anything more than glorified beer pong for kids, than Sega was for the horrifying maelstrom of yiff swirling around Sanic.

This would have been amazing had it been done during brawl. We would have gotten Reimu panties.
The lack of panties going forward really damaged the series as a whole. (Also the doing-away with of custom moves, but that's not as important). If Nintendo wants to survive in the coming era, it will have to allow panties back into the games. It is the only way.

When in reality they done nothing but lazily replaced models with 3ds ports and ugly textures that don't work with the environment and look worse than the even the remake. Console peasant slave mentality. Do you refuse to play Quake in anything but minimum settings software rendering, because that's how you were forced to on a wheezing 486? What about "PSX" games like RE, MGS, or FF7, is the higher rez on contemporary PC ports verboten? What about the constant slowdown, pop-in, and 18 FPS cap on OoT/MM, does fixing that violate the "cinematic experience"?

Barring weird nostalgia trips, the port to the best platform should be played, and all settings maxed. If a game isn't ported to a better platform yet, or its settings can't be ramped higher, they should be.

I don't know about that. Decades later we still don't have perfect emulation on a lot of systems.
Especially since reverse engineering and porting to PC takes a lot less effort these days.
>>309915
>Emulators are general purpose
This new breed of decomp is (much like modern emulators and games) coalescing around an increasingly robust ecosystem of shared libs, to the point where each new game requires only incremental additions of its own, especially if they originally shared code with other games at the engine or SDK level, which games in newer gens increasingly did.

As a classic Macfag, this feels very similar to the way in which each of the porting houses back in the day eventually built up nearly a proprietary WINE equivalent as their secret sauce to rapidly port WinTel shit, even with licensed access to commercial game and SDK source that they also mercilessly recycled their crossplatformized versions of.
Replies: >>309923

That's just static HLE emulation. In fact, none of these "ports" are actual ports - if you take a look under the hood they all depend on a big blob that handles everything more complex than glue logic that just runs on the console's CPU. Sometimes this is just a practical way to share code, like with libultraship. Sometimes (like that ALttP "port" that's effectively a facehugger around a CPUless SNES emulator) it's fucking gay.

Right? I mean, like you said a lot of the moves were just elemental effects or different timings, but there was a lot of creative stuff in there too. If they had kept it going for Ultimate and refined the idea instead of trying to shove as many characters in as possible, the game would have had so much more to offer! Hundreds of possible combinations per character with loads of potential series representation included for those memberberries. Imagine a SML black ball replacement for the fireball, or getting a little extra air time with a tail swipe instead of annoying people with FLUDD.
The Mega Man bit is especially painful. So many cool moves and now we're just stuck with "Leaf Shield" Woooo...

Retarded retcons aside (I'd have vastly preferred a warlike barbarian tribe with magic like was implied in BotW) you'd think the ancient alien goat people would leave at least some little vestigial traits after a time. I mean, what the fuck did these two's kid look like?? I don't mind certain entries in the series sharing continuity, OoT-TP is a fun, if sort of empty and disconnected, little trilogy, and aLttP Link went through some Odyssean crap for the history books. But the idea of trying to tie every single game into a coherent timeline was absolutely retarded and robs the series of a lot of future potential by turning the nearly infinite renewability of a "Legend" of different interpretations and retellings into a disjointed attempt at a reincarnation cycle.
I like dark elves as much as the next guy, but what the heck where they trying to say with this?
Also; was Twilight Princess the first game to implement non-Gerudo darkies? I don't think we ever saw a dark-skinned Hylian, and not just tanned, until BotW, but TP did have that Feather-Indian fellow in Kakariko town.
