I guess i'll start this one.
>Which game is the best one?
I am currently enjoying Unicorn Overlord a lot, but my favourites are Dragon's Crown and Odin Sphere: Leifthrasir
Muramasa Rebirth looked cool and interesting but the gameplay with the breakable swords put me off and i never finished it to this day.
>Which game is the worst one?
I didn't play it, but to me 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim seemed so dull and uninteresting to me, and i was very disappointed at the reveal of it.
>Best girl for each game and/or in general?
Sorceress from Dragon's Crown, Velvet from Odin Sphere and Queen Ilenia from Unicorn Overlord (but i like Yahna too, such a great design)
>Coolest character?
Dragon's Crown's Knight, it's so fucking badass.
>Coolest enemy?
I don't know, but i remember Odin Sphere havingll lots of cool enemies.
>Is Odin Sphere: Leifthrasir the best remaster/remake ever done and a gold standard to how you make it right?
Yes
But i have no idea why they gave the Leifthrasir version such a lifeless and dull cover art for a colorful and lively game.
The PS2 original cover is so much better.
>Which other Vanillaware game deserves the Leifthrasir treatment, if any?
I would like to see Princess Crown get the same treatment.
>>300995 (OP)
>talk about the stuff you loved and the things you hated or annoyed you about any of their games.
As much as i loved it, Dragon's Crown was not a flawless game.
I think that 9 stages were not enough, and should have been at least 12.
Also, i wish the B paths were longer and more different compared to the A paths.
>>300995 (OP)
Played and beat Unicorn overlord. Only touched a bit of dragons crown at a college dorm. Saw a playthrough of Aegis Rim. All gorgeous looking with simple and solid mechanics in my opinon. Yoko Taro is right to scream at people on twitter to preserve kamitami.
But he,or the company, has the SEGA mind virus to not port to PC. Its pure SEGA, doing something incredibly stupid, but smart enough to keep on chugging along and survive another day At least Atlus eventually caved and started doing it with SMT.

I watched some amazing art Kamitani did in Vanillaware's official site, and i would love to see them make a game out of this two.
I can see the first one as a RPG side-scrolling shooter, while the second one could be like a Dragon's Crown sequel of sorts.
The first pic in particular tells a story by itself, alien creatures using human bodies as biological fuel?
That looks so awesome, way more interesting than 13 Sentinels' theme for sure.
Those female torsos in tanks that are places inside robotic exoskeletons is some robocop shit, which is awesome.

Dragon's Crown is a fun time for the first 8 hours or so but after I got most of the talismans it felt really repetitive getting the last handful (like killing the dragon boss before it escapes) and the final boss ends up being a pure DPS race if you're alone because the AI is too stupid to not stand in fire. When I leveled enough to beat it and found out there were two more loops I just lost interest. Might be better if you have a regular group to slog through it with but "it's fun with friends" is the ultimate in damning with faint praise. Also I doubt enough anons have computers that can run RPCS3 anyway.

I honestly felt that Dragon's Crown should have kept the characters level cap at 99.
Going for 250 was like adding water to a good wine.
I still remember being happy when the news came out, about a new DC update that was going to "add a new dungeon free of charge" only to be disappointed when it came out that it was just more of the same in a new difficulty.
Also the last update fucked a lot of things up (mainly the camera, which needed no fixing at all) and made the game almost unplayable until the "pro" update came out with the PS4 version.
I also think the B routes were rushed and lacking.

I tried emulating DC on my Retroid pocket 5 on Vita3K, it seemed to play everything well, then some menus, like when you pick a character and give it a name, slowed down to unbearable levels.
Then some graphical glitches appeared, for instance before the harpy fight, the entire stage went black and the harpy was invisible.
I wonder if Odin Sphere: Leifthrasir and Muramasa: Rebirth would have the same issues.

>>301186
I did all that stuff with all the 6 characters, but i can see why some players were put off by needing to replay the same shit over and over again.
I think they should have added some newer stages at that point or something.
I think 9 dungeons were just not enough, even with the A/B routes.

Does Odin Sphere: Leifthrasir make the OG obsolete?
I think it does, not only because the OG is still included in it, but because Leifthrasir is essentially the same game with more content and better gameplay, aside from the flawlessly improved visuals without altering the original art style.

I can't say, Dragon's Crown, Odin Sphere and Muramasa had all some cool enemy design.

Yes, tweak the gameplay, add some content that doesn't feel out of place and keep everything that made the game good, art style above all, unaltered.

A Dragon's Crown with new levels and enemies would be cool, but probably Muramasa is the one that deserves it most.

Multiplat remaster, with the Genroku Legends DLC included. Apparently being given an English dub as new content, and a new English "localiztion", via XSEED/Marvelous. So apparently they're not licensing Aksys' prior English Vita script, which was done instead of licensing Ignition's previous Wii one because it was notoriously bad, and a more accurate translation was a legitimate selling point for it on the Vita. Whether that means still accurate but arbitrary wording/flow changes so they don't get sued by Aksys, or going full rewrite mode with it, I don't know, but it doesn't bode well to me.

I don't know how that shit works, so basically Marvelous can't make a proper translation because Aksys already did that, and now they need to change things lest the new translation gets too similar to Aksys'?
If that's how it is, then i don't know how that shit is even legal.

NISA is pretty much the worst. Any good translations they ever had was because of the Japanese companies holding them to a tight leash, which is very rare.
Marvelous might be pretty close these days, XSEED
(The English branch) lost their only employees worth a damn like 8 years ago and hired lunatics, and they were already left-leaning back then. By now they're probably hopeless. Not to mention that Marvelous Japan has been fucked ever since Soyny fucked them over, they took Tencent money, and Takaki left because of how bad everything became.

Had a blast playing Unicorn Overlord last year, they really improved on the simple but fun Ogre Battle formula.

Liked the story for what it was. I'm tired of the dumb twists trying to deconstruct a genre that you can see a mile away or morally grey characters that GoT popularized the last decade. They played it straight and I appreciate that.

Standard? That's a difficult question. Perhaps level design that isn't repetitive, well balanced damage values between players and enemies, responsive mechanics, etc. One of the challenges with the addition of RPG mechanics to an action platformer/beat 'em up experience is it requires a lot of care to balance the numbers for a consistent satisfying challenge in any given area.

I must admit, while i loved many Vanillaware games, i initially decided to pass on Unicorn Overlord due to the game being turn-based.
I don't know why, maybe i expected another beat em up ala Dragon's Crown...
Then i saw someone posting a gif Yahna, with that same animation of your pic related, and asked what's that from?
And so, i got a copy of Unicorn Overlord, and i must say, i ended up loving the game, it made me feel like a kid again, like when i couldn't wait to get back home from school just to play some cool video game.
I even woke up earlier in the mornings so i could manage to play it for an hour or more before leaving for work, it's been a while since a new made made me feel like that.

Beneath all the bullshit, it really does just come down to bad games being worse than good games.

Look at 312401.
It would have been 1 post. But 1 person complained, and now it's 10+ posts in a chain of direct responses. If nobody complained, it would have 0 replies right now.

I feel like I shouldn't need to explain this, but the reason /pol/ exists is to discuss what cannot be discussed elsewhere because of censorship. People on /pol/ constantly discussed politics and controversial conspiracies and how the jews were involved, and they were always right.
It wouldn't even make sense to stick to vanilla politics topics. Just stay on reddit or the various 500 other political forums if you want that.

Same with video games. Plenty of places to talk about video games that censor discussion of tranny devs and jews being jews.

I will do so next time, my mistake. Matter-of-fact, if a mod or janny is watching, feel free to spoiler them. It's not censorship, since this is /v/.

Also, very much this. For you fags such as >>312426 who keep complaining, maybe you shouldn't have spent decades destroying containment zones.

To that topic, it's not like there's been no cultural artifacts since 2010. It's just been pushed into the Internet and into forms that aren't subject to complete top down control yet. How many anime and manga of the last 10 years started as web novels? How much writefagging and other OC has come out of places like /tg/ and /monster/? Fuck, just look at YouTube. They let Markiplier direct and write a major motion picture. A horror movie based on a stale 4chan meme is probably going to be one of the top 10 films of the summer in terms of box office. The Amazing Digital Circus is popular enough they put the finale out in theaters first. There's a lot of slop, more than ever before, but every generation pulls out tons of slop.

>I'm reminded of when Metroid Prime 4 was rightly lambasted by anons, and the usual dismissals accused haters of just being contrarians or tribalistic culture warriors...
I STILL think Metroid Dread was garbage.
Planet ZDR was dull and had nothing interesting going on, the story was dumb, the E.M.M.Is were shit, and more annoying (with those lame QTE) than "scary" as they were supposed to be, the graphics looked washed out despite Dread being a 2.5D game (Prime Remastered looks 100 times better, so the Switch not being powerful wasn't an excuse), the music was forgettable, the counter attacks were unnecessary and the general tone was kinda boring.
Samus' initial suit looked cool though, that's the only positive i could find.

This.
Not to mention how it is getting more and more difficult to not address the elephant in the room when vidya is getting shit because those elements are using it for propaganda purposes instead of entertainment.

Yeah, especially since she looks nothing like a niggress.
Japs tend to do that thing to make a character that looks 100% Caucasian and then make the skin a few shades darker.
I would have preferred if she was light skinned as her sister, but calling her a bigger is a stretch.
Gotta adnit that when I first played the demo I first thought Aubin was a nigger, and thought: "No... Not VanillaWare too with crap!" Then I realized he was just a tanned dude that used to live in the desert.
For a bit I was about to boycott the game, I feared SEGA would have asked them to put that shit in the game for ESG shekels

I like Selvie the most. Followed by Celeste, they are pretty similar in terms of looks. I should try picking it up again, felt way too easy and I grew so bored, though I like games with cute girls, it doesn't feel right when that's all there is to it. I think I just can't feel being main character, even gave myself and my sister light hair, yet still doesn't feel quite right, maybe because the name is pre-set.

Yeah, Selvie has that "hot but unkept" appeal, like she probably doesn't even realize she's attractive.
Is it me, or did most of the female characters' "upgrade" felt like a visual downgrade?
I mean, Yahna going from Witch to Sorceress is the best example, but the healers were another one.

I honestly didn't like Alain's blue hair, I would have preferred if they gave him blonde or light brown hair.
With those blue hair he looked like a Fire Emblem character, and I meant that in a negative way.
By the way, while Scarlet was probably the "canon" choice, I think she was kinda boring, so I opted for Alain's cousin Virginia instead, I think it made more sense to have Virginia as the queen.
My disappointment is that not every choice implied romance or marriage.
Well, that, and the fact that for some reason you could even give the ring to guys as well, what the fuck were they thinking?
I know no gay romance was even implied, but still...
