Please please tell me, that something (hardware and/or software) somewhere, operating system and everything else from web browsers to video editors, anywhere in the foul year of our lord >2020, THAT IS NOT EITHER OF THESE TWO EXTREMES THAT ARE STARTING TO MAKE ME SEE THE POINT OF ECOTERRORISM BEING LESS INSANE THAN ALL THE OTHER POLITICAL GIRLS:

1) Bloated kludgeware tire fire trashheaps slapped together (I am beyond fed up with linux and open sores freetardation in general) by either cringy trannies or cringy nadsee larpers but I can pick and choose my poison to try and carefully avoid both kinds of collectivist authoritarian "YOU'RE A FUCKING WHITE MALE!!" and "YOUR'E NOT A FUCKING WHITE MALE!!" (both are equally gay, two sides of the same slacktivist coin, both of you blow your brains out since I'm sick of both of you blowing each other way outside your containment quarantine shitpits of purity spiraling echo chamber circle jerks, there is no escape from terminally online politislopsuckers) being shoved down my throat at every turn (which is getting more and more difficult to get away from in the digital world: as enshittification, the competency crisis, and the neo-bolshevik long march through the institutions infects every corner of everywhere (the world owes Joseph McCarthy, Richard Nixon, and Ronald Paul an apology!); what happened to hobbyists being proud of their passions? what happened to "coupla dudes in a garage" gigageeks outclassing paid professionals like they consistently did in the 90's and 00's? if you're not getting paid, why waste hundreds of hours stringing the programming equivalent of chewing gum and duct tape patching together over-9000 lines of ChatGPT copy-pastes just to take a dump in the Web3 ocean of piss unless your whole mission is to be a trolly edgelord, what's the point? go get drunk and watch porn, at least then you're only killing your own brain cells and not mine, as well!)

2) Slightly less bloated, slightly less kludgy, only smouldering but not entirely on fire trashheaps vibe-coded by brown hands (so far... slightly less terrible, as even diversity-hires are somewhat smarter and less sociopathic than nose-ringed, birds-handing HR feminists and their beta male orbiting kalergi-mutt-knights), BUT it datamines the shit out of you and puts you on ten-thousand subscription services in financial-death-by-1000-cuts and there is no escaping the "YOU'RE A FUCKING WHITE MALE!!" shoveled straight into my sliced-open belly because that's apparently what the trillionare executives forced me to sign the dotted line for the privilege of being part of modern soyciety.

Are these our only choices anymore, short of going full Inuit or Amish? To just bend over and take it from even more soulless, autistic nerds than myself who're afraid of talking to girls and probably hate me for being a white male, or to instead bend over and take it from soulless, psychotic bankers and their herds of monkey-cattle useful idiots who all certainly hate me for daring to be born male and white? Do I seriously have to go crawling back to Microsoft? Do I seriously have to go full iPhag for a slightly different flavor of tofu? I can't fucking stand open sores anymore and I'm just about out of fucks for spyware and backdoored CPUs and so on. The baizuo effluent choking out all life in all corners of the 1st world seems inescapable if I'm to be part of any social structure that isn't some hunter-gatherer tribe in a remote jungle, savanna, or tiny island in the middle of the Pacific. They'd probably treat me better than commie normgroids anyway.

And if so, well, is there a relatively less shitty taste of steaming diarrhea bowls to suck down in order to be part of a modern world? Not quite ready to go live innacave innawoods onnamount just yet, though more and more it's sounding extremely tempting to go feed myself to the nearest bear to get away from ten-thousand dangerhair cults for the pleasure of a roof over my head that I didn't have to build by hand and food in front of me that I didn't have to kill and cook by a hand-made campfire.

Is Windows 11 or Mac Tahoe really all that bad compared to KDE Plasma 6, for example? Is it at all possible to go retraux with, I dunno, BeOS or OpenSolaris without being virus-bait using ancient abandonware and still sometimes watch a jewtube through invidious with it and maybe play nostalgiabait like Luanti and emulated PS2 titles every now and then?

Enshittification (online and off) and cringy culture wars (offline and on) are all so tiresome. Where did all the good developers go?
>>19460 (OP)
Hardware/software hax a real ps2 into having an sd card reader or hdd and then use Tinycore or read books using Contiki OS I guess.
<but the ps2 will break
Then use your new computer hardware but with older software and keep it non-networked? Online and offline? Why would it matter if it's offline and older software? Nerds used to rave about OpenBSD so maybe that can do your precious gen 6 emulation? If Internet propaganda has you so buttharmed then shouldn't you stop using social media or are you in fact almost enjoying your anger?

SymbOS is also a good option if you want to have your original consoles hardware/software hax'd instead of new shit. You can invade your local Amish village and then they can meme 'Lancaster 202X' as they program on their very own diy z80 computers in a parallel dimension. Well, Holmes has a higher population and I could see a population of 40k meme'ing about good morning there, due to the state's name. Lancaster 2026 sounds funnier than Holmes 2026 though.
>reread post
>looks grammatically like I'm implying use Contiki/Symbos/etc on ps2 consoles
I meant if the computer, a normal one, is old, to use it alongside the console with such operating systems, as with shitty hardware/software it can't do gen 6, if not OpenBSD.

Brain surgery is too expensive for a minimum wage worker so you'll hafta forgive me.

Options:
2) Autistastic OpenBSD (for perfectly sane nerds)
1) hax'd consoles + Tinycore/etc (to be used in your micronation on a floating island made up of glued together empty coke bottles, for schizo[insert type] that love z80 computers and repairing old video game consoles)
0) non-networked mode with normalfaggotry hardware/software (dated, or not, for old people)

That's what I meant. *twitch*

PS: I tried reading books on my own hax'd ps2 and it kept crashing as it could not open giant txt files! No idea why. The psp was so much better a general use computer, not that anyone cared about it's games, but it could play emus better than the ps2, had all those applications that could do so much, and could even play every psx game, so I dare say if one had to choose a console to cope with... you could sneak it into the Amish village you know!

My pocketgo died :( At least the Anbernics are not dead (yet). I used Picore with my own Raspberry PI Zero but it's wifi module didn't like my router for some reason.

It's okay; I'll stop typing now.

PS: stop watching/using jewtube and tofu did nothing wrong

PSS: they, the devolopers, retired and sucked at teaching and lots of shit they learned from is 404'd

There are no options left for you, now turn off your computer and go live in a forest.

For someone who's supposedly sick and tired of politics, your post is a partially digested buzzword salad that you chewed a little, swallowed, and vomited back up. Trying to read it is like digging through puke to identify the food chunks, and I hate it.
>Is Windows 11 or Mac Tahoe really all that bad compared to KDE Plasma 6, for example?
If you're even asking that, I can say from my experience with relatives' computers that Windows 11 is way worse than you imagine. It's genuinely less usable for basic desktop activities and more difficult to troubleshoot than babby distros like Linux Mint. Even normalfags can only barely tolerate it, and every single person I've bumped into who said it was "fine" was an incredibly spiteful faggot who spent way more time fixing his system and overlooking broken functionality than the average Linuxfag.
It isn't Windows 7, or even the pretty bad Windows 10. It's an OS where your right-click menu has an annoying start-up delay and ambigious icons which get rearranged at random. It's an OS where Microsoft regularly pushes out and then quickly retracts updates which outright break people's hardware. It's an OS where your desktop forcibly opens a window demanding you enable a certain feature, but the setup wizard crashes, the troubleshooting wizard also crashes, the error codes for both of these which every online guide depends on do not appear, and the methods for disabling the auto-launching window do not work for no clear reason. The entire experience feels like you're actively fighting an army of braindead pajeets to accomplish anything in a way that somehow makes trannyware feel amazing in comparision, and using it makes it really clear why Microsoft is trying to colonize Linux: they've given up and want to escape their own mess.

Seriously, don't do it. I'm not saying this as a Linux cultist (I'm nowhere near that), I'm saying this because Windows 11 is actually fucking terrible, and no amount of spite is worth putting up with it.

I agree. OP is unreadable.

As someone who's not a Linux cultist either, I also agree. Windows 7 was comfy and Windows 10 was tolerable (if it's one of the "editions" without ads, etc), but I recently had to use Windows 11 on public computers and it was just ghastly.

It all depends for what you will use your PC.
Modern Mac and Windows is good enough if you are a normalfag.
If you want stuff to "Just Work ™" and simply access the web, shitpost, play some games, use Office and stuff it's the best.
It's a reason why they've been corporate OS'es for so long. Even if you buy a niche schizo gadget you can mostly make it work on Win and Mac.
Even the annoying stuff is easily manageable. Bloatware can be removed, ads blocked, features uninstalled, updates stopped, you have total control on what you can enable or disable, it may cost system stability but you can do it.

If you have lots of free time, really care about what you computer can do or not, want to have a fine control on it's software, processes, scheduling and the whole shebang then use linux or bsd.

Windows / Mac is like having a shack full of tools, neatly organized. Some annoying rats roaming here and there, changing stuff from time to time, but you can kill them.
Linux is a warehouse. It starts fully sorted and organized but each time you pull something to use it starts to get more messy, and every time you try to fix something it messes another part and when you go online ask for help they say you bought the wrong type of the warehouse because you are a stupid loser.

It's so ghastly that every time I see someone like >>19468 (don't really want to pick on him, he's unfortunately just a good example) talking about how modern Windows "is good enough" and "just works," I briefly wonder what the fuck he's smoking. Then I see the inevitable line:
>Even the annoying stuff is easily manageable. Bloatware can be removed, ads blocked, features uninstalled, updates stopped, you have total control on what you can enable or disable, it may cost system stability but you can do it.
After that, there's the inevitable transition to:
>If you have lots of free time, really care about what you computer can do or not, want to have a fine control on it's software, processes, scheduling and the whole shebang then use linux or bsd.
When someone says this shit about Windows 11, he's basically become that hypothetical Linux user he decries, just with a shittier OS that he has less control over.

>>19468
If you think about your toolshack/warehouse analogy, what you describe in the second part is not like a warehouse at all, but something a lot more interconnected.

Disclaimer: I'm not pro Linux, Window or Mac, these are just tools to use, each have an use case and everyone should use what they like it.
It's not like I hate Linux/Unix and love Windows, I have to use both systems for work / hobbies.

You liking it or not Windows is good enough. If Windows was really that bad and unusable people would already changed fully to something else.
It's the best? No. It's getting worse each update? Yes. But it still working.
My point is: For most people is ok, just like Android and iOS is ok for billions of users. Most people are throwing away control on the system and computer just because it's more comfortable.

By the way, what do you do on Linux that you couldn't do on Windows or a Mac? Is it that much HarderBetter/FasterStronger doing on Linux?

Anon, you know you can just, like, not care, right? This is entirely a "you problem".

Just use the software

There is literally nothing stopping you from running NixOS to write Rust for your black sun hyperborean renewal, or TempleOS for your fully automated luxury gay space commune. They're just tools, they don't care what they're used for, and neither should you unless you're deeply involved with their authors for some practical reason.

Microsoft, Apple, Google, etc., all have just as much childish nonsense behind the scenes, even if you don't have as much voyeuristic insight into it as a member of the public.

It's like asking why would you accept a free Pontiac Firebird when you could just buy a Trabant. You choose a Linux distro that works the way you want your distro to work, and then you don't have to worry about some pajeets fucking everything up from making the user interface worse to limiting the kind of hardware you are allowed to install the OS on.
