What disgusts me most about the soulless parasites you mention isn't even the cruelty. It's the desperate efforts to appear good-natured and kind.

Everyone knows annoying assholes and autistic spergs nobody can stand but at least they don't hide what they are. Even savage beasts are somehow admired for their wildness, though no one in their right mind would want to get close to them. But the beasts -however debased- deceive no one about their nature.

This specific type of perfidious scum are different. They will take your finances, your safety, your mental health, your reputation, your integrity and they won't stop there. The truth of the harm itself must be corrupted and buried, so you're left with absolutely nothing, not even with the lesson that would keep you from trusting them again.
