Don't just equate advances in hardware with quality of content. A great game still needs an excellent story, exciting gameplay, beautiful music and art that stimulates one's imagination. But that's only part of the picture, a good game has cultural depth, a connection with real life and the past, but this globalized, internet powered culture industry we live in now isn't exactly organic, without the organic counterpart for the fictional game world the feedback loop is broken, you see? Pic related.
