Next Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night Update to Bring New Character from Another World
https://web.archive.org/web/20211028175134/https://playbloodstained.com/production-update-october-2021/
>We mentioned in our last announcement that we are tackling some technical issues that have slowed down our production timetable. We regret the long delay between updates and continue to ask for your patience as we make progress.
>Due to these issues, we do not have a release timeframe for you yet, but we would like to share some information on what we have in the works.
Our next update will introduce a new playable character to the game. This is a change from our previously released roadmap.
>We can confirm that this new character is NOT from the world of Bloodstained. We have been working closely with a well-known partner to bring their character (and a friend) into the game.
>As with previous characters, you will be able to explore the entire map, though certain abilities will need to be acquired before some areas and bosses can be accessed. Along the way you will be able to increase the rank and class of the character’s special ability to grow in power.
>We are excited to bring this update to you and will have a full announcement when it is closer to launch.
>As previously mentioned, after the playable character is live, we expect the next update to include Chaos Mode with co-op and Vs Mode with multiplayer.
Sega and Microsoft Enter “Strategic Alliance” for Global Cloud “Super Games”
https://web.archive.org/web/20211101013638/https://www.sega.co.jp/en/release/211101_1.html
>SEGA Corporation (hereinafter referred to as "SEGA") and Microsoft Corporation (hereinafter referred to as "Microsoft") have agreed in principal, a strategic alliance that explores ways for SEGA to produce large-scale, global games in a next-generation development environment built on Microsoft’s Azure cloud platform. The alliance would form a key part of SEGA’s mid to long-term strategy, allowing the business to move forward with “Super Game”, a new initiative for developing new and innovative titles where the key focuses are “Global”, “Online”, “Community” and “IP utilization”.
>With the world now more connected than ever following the widespread deployment of 5G and cloud services in recent years, consumers can more easily enjoy high-quality entertainment content at any time. Within this highly connected environment, the ecosystem surrounding the games industry continues to evolve and expand as more sophisticated tools and technologies become available. As such, video games continue to grow as a major medium for gamers globally, with access to a vast range of gaming experiences and communities becoming more diverse and attainable. This proposed alliance represents SEGA looking ahead, and by working with Microsoft to anticipate such trends as they accelerate further in future, the goal is to optimise development processes and continue to bring high-quality experiences to players using Azure cloud technologies.
>Microsoft and SEGA have agreed upon the foundation for this alliance and through mutual cooperation, will look to build futher technological evolutions with areas such as the network infrastructure and communication tools required for global online services being a key priority. Additionally, by shifting to a next-generation development platform, SEGA can effectively adapt to diversfying work styles and potential infrastructural changes.

Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition Cuts Over 40 Songs, Some Cheats
https://web.archive.org/web/20211111171904/https://nichegamer.com/grand-theft-auto-the-trilogy-the-definitive-edition-cut-songs-cheats/
The list of the removed songs is pretty long, so I'm not gonna bother. Just click the link for the archive if you care for some reason.
>Nonetheless, Rockstar boast that “In addition to higher quality audio at 16bit 44hrz for all the source music from the stations as well as original ambient effects, players will also be able to experience the game in 5.1 Surround Sound.”
GTA Trilogy Definitive Edition Pulled from PC; Dataminers Uncover Disabled Music and Original Dev Notes
https://web.archive.org/web/20211112195041/https://nichegamer.com/grand-theft-auto-trilogy-definitive-pc-pulled-dataminers/
>Rockstar Games have disabled their PC launcher for Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition; while dataminers have uncovered a trove of information.
>Ash R. had uncovered that some of the removed music was still in the game, and merely disabled by a script. While San Andreas has its entire soundtrack in the game (with 22 tracks disabled in game), but some tracks that were removed in earlier editions of The Trilogy are still absent [1, 2] such as Michael Jackson’s Billie Jean.
>Meanwhile, Vadim M. had uncovered the game included an uncompiled main.scm with the original developer comments. In other words, he could see what the original Rockstar North developer notes during the original games’ development; a “holy grail” of behind the scenes information.
>The data includes evidence the news van was originally meant to contain hidden packages, early mission names, internal names for Prawn Island and Stacked Pizza being Porn Island and Pizza Hut, development woes as “this shit doesn’t work the way they wrote it,” strange notes about the Green Sabre mission, workarounds by tweaking the game’s engine, and how they fixed the Michelle date bug in the original trilogy.

Re3's official Github repo was DMCA'd from the platform. The last commit to the project was added in Sep 2, 2021, and nothing besides this information is known to the public. Sadly, I doubt that the project will ever come back.
There's however another project called OpenRW. If you're interested, check it's website: https://openrw.org/

re3 wasn't clean room reverse engineering like WINE.
It was mostly decompiled using IDA, restructued, commented, and was distributed with various copyrighted materials (txds, imgs, the various .txt scripts).
Take 2 initially sent a C&D, then the re3 team got cocky and came back several months later and now they've been issued a lawsuit from T2 (in california).
There is another gta3 engine clone that hasn't been taken down because it was using clean room reverse engineering.
Funny how the vita and switch port devs also are being sued, but not the WiiU / 3DS port?
The FSF would agree with Take 2's stance btw.

Pretty sure they had to decrypt the files before they could use a file browser on them, I doubt Rockstar hands out OGG files of copyrighted songs just like that or leave their scripts out in the open.
Replies: >>94788
>>94771
GTA3's radio was just mp3 files left out in the open. Only issue that had was it was 1 large mp3 per station rather than each individual song.
>>94723
Rockstar technically ought to eat shit for this, as someone has probably pointed out already. Just because the songs weren't played in the game doesn't mean that they weren't distributing them, and it's a certainty that they "removed" the songs because they no longer had license to distribute them. But since all sufficiently large corporations are owned by the same people, even if they are civilly sued to keep the copyrights upheld they'll just get a slap on the wrist.

The Elder Scrolls VI is Exclusive to PC and Xbox
https://web.archive.org/web/20211116001910/https://nichegamer.com/the-elder-scrolls-vi-is-exclusive-to-pc-and-xbox/
>The news that The Elder Scrolls VI is exclusive to PC and Xbox comes via a new interview with Spencer and GQ magazine in celebration of the Xbox 20th anniversary, where both Spencer and Bethesda Games Studio boss Todd Howard confirmed the game is exclusive to both.
>“It’s not about punishing any other platform, like I fundamentally believe all of the platforms can continue to grow,” Spencer said. “But in order to be on Xbox, I want us to be able to bring the full complete package of what we have. And that would be true when I think about Elder Scrolls VI. That would be true when I think about any of our franchises.”
>When talking about Ghostwire: Tokyo and Deathloop, both developed under Bethesda Softworks but previously confirmed for non-Xbox platforms, Spencer said they are approaching third party games exclusivity “on a case-by-case basis.”

>As of November 7th, sales for the game in Japan reached 128,257 units, amassing the amount of units sold to almost over 1 million in just the US and Japan.

why the fuck is metroid dread the highest debut? were people really more excited for this than Prime?

It's more that Nintendo players being 90% underageb&s didn't have the money or the brain diseases to throw money at flaming radioactive turds when Prime released.

There hasn't been a Metroid game on a home console for more than a fucking decade, so people are starved for it.

I've never understood people like you who act as though a series returning to the limelight doesn't matter, and that potential buyers are actually considering it in relation to the rest of the games. The people buying Metroid Dread are probably mostly children and teenagers who know Samus as a Smash Bros character.

GTA Modders to Court: Our Game Fixes & Enhancements Are Fair Use, Not Piracy
>https://archive.md/lkSqm
>the defendants assert that [...] any alleged ‘reverse engineering’ of original code represents a transformative use of that content, i.e it added something new, with a further purpose or different character, and did not substitute for the original use of the work.
>The answer further points out that the original games were released over 15 years ago and the plaintiff stopped releasing patches and bug fixes several years before any of the alleged actions of the defendants took place.
>Another important fact highlighted in the answer to the complaint is that the defendants’ modifications are useless in their own right. In fact, anyone who wished to make use of ‘re3’ and ‘reVC’ could not do so without already possessing copies of GTA 3 and Vice City, games that Take-Two stopped making available for purchase on its online stores.
>This leads to the question of whether the alleged conduct of the defendants affected the market for those games and if so, in what way. According to the answer, the mods did not affect the market but to the extent they did, any shift would’ve been positive since people needed to purchase the games to use the mods.
<While these factors aren’t expressly cited in the defendants’ third affirmative defense (the extraterritorial application of US law), the complaint alleges that the copying of copyrighted material was undertaken outside the United States. As such, US copyright law lacks reach, the defendants say.
It seems they're doing really well. Take two couldn't even out money them and is now trying to get them arrested on technicalities. Whether they'll actually win is a completely different question, but I'm glad they aren't as retarded as I though.

Brain damage, but at least he's capable of recognizing when things are bad. I watched Act Man's video about BF2042 and the sheer volume of bugs and broken things surprised me, even though I knew the game would be trash due to what it is.

The main thing that really surprised me is how large the maps are, while simultaneously feeling empty. In the single map available in the open beta, you could literally spawn on the side of a hill and spend the better part of three minutes running towards a building, waiting for something to happen and or to see an enemy. I thought that was a problem with older BF games like BF3 (which was what, 2013?), and it's mind-boggling to me that there are still legions of people who are so devoid of critical thought and an inner monologue that they buy these games year after year and play them for thousands of hours. How stupid must you be not to be able to recognize when you're bored?

>it affects your vision if bullets land near you.
That reminds me of some racing game on the ps2 that I dropped very hard. The main mechanic was about pressuring other drivers by being close behind them so they would move out of the way. But if a car was behind you, your vision would get blurry and the game would force you off the road and let the other guy pass you. Really shitty idea to force players to act a certain way just because you don't like it when they act recklessly since it is just a game.
>>96388
In Rising Storm 2, a bullet whiffing nearby mildly affects vision but also greatly affects heart rate (similar to running a lot), shots are accurate if your aim is true barring inherent ballistic spread and distance bullet dropoff but aiming itself isn't accurate and sways more the higher your heart rate is, which is counteracted by hiding somewhere and not getting shot. Machinegun fire has a greater effect for this, not only because there's a greater volume of fire that can and will penetrate through most cover but also because of the caliber used, the "hitbox" or area of effect for MG bullets suppression is much greater. Sniper bullets also have this effect (there's some achievements for suppressing squads as sniper without killing anyone), alongside other bolt actions and certain rifles with a caliber higher than usual.

The effect is mostly visual sway and your screen darkening for a moment. The higher the suppression and volume of fire, the darker your screen becomes and aiming becomes much harder due to the sway. It's not that big of an effect, I've seen plenty of experienced fags pop out of cover and just frag the MG gunner with no issues. It is a bit of a nice touch though.

This point is actually concerning since it affects the comedic tone of the game, but I doubt this one can't get screwed up since the ingame texts are simple. Those are nothing more complex than "go fetch stuff since I need it", or "go kill a boar so that I could go get food" or "this dragon is strong because its 1000 yrs old"
Furthermore most of these text are actually quest details, which don't really add anything to the gameplay.
>>97622
>>Damage numbers added and turned on by default
No offence, but I don't understand why some people get so autistic about damage numbers in Monster Hunter.
The thing Capcom is most likely to add to the releases of the older titles are things like the defender armor and weapons from World. I don't know if they also existed in Rise, because I never played it or saw gameplay of it. And if they do, they'll most likely be an option.
>>97626
>Furthermore most of these text are actually quest details, which don't really add anything to the gameplay.
To play devil's advocate, you're right. Monster Hunter isn't really a series known for its story. It would be gay if they changed things that didn't need changing, but the worst thing I see being done to the text, if they change any of it all, is putting in current year memes for the English version.

The fact that it took "muh womynz" (that are likely lying ones at that) to take down a cancer like actiblizz should worry the fuck out of anyone with a brain if this is what people care about.

My point is that consumers willingly choosing not to exercise their power doesn't mean feminists have more power. The only reason why CDPR barely released a statement after literally breaking multiple laws but sony is going to go all out in damage control is that the consumers that complained about 2077 are still paying for and defending the game, whereas the feminists that threatened lawsuits for not getting a pussy pass actually went and did something.

More importantly if they aren't exercising their power even at this point, that makes them no better than sheep (or perhaps, a lion that chooses to be pacifist and vegan), whereas feminists are more like ferocious jackals.
How the fuck do they not have more power when they have the requisite agency to use it to their advantage (taking positions, money, influence, and creating changes and systems in their favor), when consumers don't?

A nuke has way more destructive power than a screaming retard. If consumers don't buy the product the company fucking dies, if feminists don't like a company the worst they can do is harassment. Consumers have more power, they just don't ever use it.

Gary Bowser Agrees to Pay $10 Million in Piracy Damages to Nintendo
https://archive.md/c8DMk
>Last year the U.S. Government indicted three members of the infamous Team-Xecuter group, the alleged masterminds behind various Nintendo hacks. One of those men, Canada resident Gary Bowser, was also targeted in a civil lawsuit by Nintendo, which both parties have now agreed to 'settle' for $10 million in damages.
>The group offered hardware and software solutions that allowed people to install and play unofficial games and pirated copies on various consoles, including the popular Nintendo Switch.
>Team-Xecuter defended its work by pointing out that their products are not necessarily pirate tools. They supported the ‘right to repair’ movement and backed people who wanted to play homebrew games on their devices for personal use.
>According to the indictment, Bowser was more than just a writer. The Government saw him as part of the Team-Xecuter conspiracy
>Bowser, who’s in his fifties, initially pleaded not guilty but reversed his stance last month. After consulting with his attorney, he pleaded guilty to conspiracy to circumvent technological measures, trafficking in circumvention devices, and violating the DMCA’s anti-circumvention provision.

Recent Release of Minecraft 1.18 Java Edition Introduces Telemetry That Cannot Be Disabled
https://web.archive.org/web/20211207195515/https://minecraft.fandom.com/wiki/Java_Edition_1.18
https://web.archive.org/web/20211208163534/https://bugs.mojang.com/browse/MC-237493
From 1.18 changelogs:
>Telemetry
>Readded, previously a part of game known as "snooper" until 18w20c.
>Implemented only in world load event now.
>Sent data when loading singleplayer world or connecting to multiplayer server.
>Contains following information:
>Launcher identifier
>User identifier (XUID)
>Client session ID (changes on restart)
>World session ID (changes per world load, to be reused for later events)
>Game version
>Operating system name and version
>Java runtime version
>If client or server is modded (same information as on crash logs)
>Server type (single player, Realms or other)
>Game mode
>Cannot be disabled.
The funniest part about this is that the bug report that addresses this issue got resolved as "Working As Intended", which shows that they aren't even hiding their malicious intentions.

>shows that they aren't even hiding their malicious intentions
The foundation of this sentence implies you're stupid enough to think that people actually care about being spied on, as though simply pointing out malice from a megacorp is a shock. The majority of normalfags genuinely don't care one way or another, or will outright endorse this stuff. Weighing the happy feelings from playing (a shit game like) Minecraft against the anguish of even considering stopping is a clear win for the happy feelings.

Funny headline and all, sure, but what is there to talk about? Normalfags eat it up, people outside the mainstream continue to avoid it for other reasons.

Every major gaming company is jewish, they wouldn't be major if it weren't for kosher practices.
Now are we gonna play some games for free or are we going to fuel the decades dead console war for free instead?

Like this soon-to-be Square Enix masterpiece where you play as a foul mouthed mutt who I guarantee will be queer, has an guiding voice to throw capeshit quips at in a world where ray-tracing lowers your game down to unstable 30 fps in barely 1080p. Apperantly, Amy Hennig of the Legacy of Cain fame worked on this. Maybe they fired her. Maybe they replaced her. Maybe they tore a page out of her notebook and called it "contribution". Not really, PS3 almost undersold to the 360 and while it had niche games, the reason people bought the PS4 was because the Xboner announcement was a complete utter fucking disaster.

Gravity Daze 2 and Bloodborne
That is all, everything else is either on the Vita or the PS3.
PS4 was a western pandering product from the get go and took 3 months to hit Japan.

I despise all the weaboos who still bought it while pretending they love Wapanese "culture".

PS3 was, for most of the generation, definetly the underdog console with less sales and far less notable games. This was less true in Europe than in North America and entirely untrue in Japan but it was the mainstream over most of the world. Towards the end of the generation things improved radically on both sales and vidya availability for some reason.

While 8th Gen mechanically and graphically is pretty much just 7th Gen with even more kikery on top of it, this isn't remotely true.
'PS3' CPU was IBMs Power PC and Nvidia G70
'PS4' was full on AMD APU based on the trainwreck that was Jaguar architecture.

Since 7th Gen these companies stopped making proprietary architectures for standardization, ease of mass production and game development. 8th Gen consoles and forward are literally locked down PCs.
The only thing you're mentioning is the OS, and surface level stuff at that.
You're comparing 2 consoles based on their similar menu aesthetics, which is retarded.

Videogames used to be weird unique stuff, even at executive level, to the point that the Xbox 360 had a weird ass GPU mixing both Nvidia and ATI hardware.

You know how buttcoin is just a fancy ledger? It's like that, but instead of a ledger of internet money it's a ledger of png ownership.
The png itself hosted in a random third party site (e.g. imgur) and the NFT it's just a system that tells you who officially owns the png.

>What the fuck is an "NFT"
>He doesn't know
Remember those baseball cards or trading cards of a photo of a movie scene? How people collected them and traded them?
Well, big tech are making DIGITAL trading cards were normalfags can be the legitimate owner of a unique trading card, maybe there are 1,000 or 100 or 1!
How can you buy this awesome NFTs you ask? Its super easy, just take your fake monopoly money, trade it for fake digital monopoly money aka cryptocoins and buy NFTs!
You have an NFT? Congratulations you are the sole owner of that digital trading card or digital book or digital video clip or digital gamer moment!
That super special unique NFT went up on price and you want to sell it to another lucky owner? No problem just sell it in an auction were the money will be split with you, the maker of the NFT and the auction organizer.
You want to sell the NFT directly to someone and cut off the middle man? OH VEY GOY YOU CAN'T DO THAT!
The NFT is part of the system and you can't remove it from there! Also, the server that is hosting the image/video/whatever can go down and you will not be able to see it, but at least you will still own a string of code in the system, until that also goes down.

Jesus fucking Christ. I just reread Snowcrash last year and I was not expecting to be so soured on "metaverse" as a word as I have been this year. The worst part is we could have NFTs as a digital property ledger for a decentralized virtual world, but instead they're just used to mark template profile pictures for retards. I'm wouldn't be surprised if NFT art auctions are a glow op to distract people from real applications of the technology.
