The render of Claire cheaply plastered onto each eye of the zombie on the cover is enough of a warning to anyone willing to play it.

the NES Kunio/River City collection is good, simple fun with probably one of the dumbest histories ever. invented the 3d beat-em-up and the platform fighter, but now sits in ArcSys's whore house due to getting cucked constantly. this collections include:

>simple beat-em-up/rpg mixes set in an open world

I found trading as early as possible helped a lot in preventing wars for a while. Though the rng events could fuck you over. But there I saw more of those events that spawned massive fleets that raped everyone then events that pushed me to war.
I recently played Dragon's Dogma and that was okay. I then went on to try a bunch of other shitty RPG's like Risen and Sacred 2 but both of them were too clunky for me.

I started to emulate PSO hoping it might play similarly enough to PSO2 and scratch that autism grinding itch since PSO2 is pozzed with anti-cheat and being an always online game but that didn't really pan out. Then I figured I'd give Monster Hunter 3 a try but got bored of it almost instantly.

I've been autistically bouncing around random games a lot lately trying to find something to play but nothing is sticking. The latest I tried was Divinity 2 which I still haven't really given a chance but my god are the animations hilariously bad. Kind of wish I picked up Code Vein while it was on sale but oh well. inb4 >buying games AnonAI please generate an epic recommendation based on this data set.

>All those trendsetting games in the 90s
I always wondered why we never had a repeat of that but with indies. You get games like Factorio or something every other year, but it's never a barrage of trendsetters. Almost every indie I've seen is a throwback to an older game. A doom clone here, a C&C clone there, Castlevania clones, and there's like 3-4 dungeon keeper clones.

Todays Indie devs are code monkey and not computer scientists. The good developers of old all had a real hard on for the technology they were creating, the games were just tools to implement their achievements and get payed for it. In comparison today's developers are just players that want to make their own games, there is no passion in developing their own engine, sound design ect.

For example look at the old German RPG Albion, you can find it on GOG. It's a weird mixtue of 2D and 3D dungeon crawler, it's science fiction with furries, but there druids for some reason. The whole story is some hippy trip about saving a planet from being harvested. The makers of Gothic liked RPGs, but they like the direction that Albion's story was taking it. So they build a fully 3D action RPG with a unique setting nobody had experience before.
In comparison several indie devs have made Metroidvania clones, but not a single one has come forth ad said "You know what? We can make a better game than Metroid Prime!".

Are there any monster breeding games more towards the creatures genetic autism end of the spectrum? Not full on simulationism, but a little more interesting breeding mechanics than pokemon. I was surprised to see robopon on any list, it just felt like robot pokemon when i played as a kid. I wonder if it holds up and if there was a translation patch for the version we didn't get in the west.

>>84648
I think you have it right: the reason there are fewer genre defining games now is because devs are more and more inspired by prior games, and not by translating something they're passionate about onto the computer. There's nothing wrong with iterating a succesful idea like C&C did for Dune, but to strike on a good idea you have to have a vision that today's clones of clones of clones are thoroughly lacking.

I think it more-so has to do with there are too many heavily established genres people keep falling back on. There was more reason to come up with something new back in the day when it wasn't clear what games would stand the test of time and technology was constantly evolving.

>>84648
Also the fact that the skill floor is way higher now if you want to do something new. There are so many crazy new technologies that are out that have barely been utilized. AI hasn't progressed an inch. It's always coming down to some autist like the Teardown guy making a tech demo. Even then Factorio proves you don't need some crazy new voxel tech or AI to make something unique. Just enough grit to not burn out 1/10th of the way into your vision.

Of course I read the screencaps, considering they came from my screencap folder.
The first one just says that the act of playing a villian reinforces the themes of the game, just like the poor gameplay does.
The second one only calls the player party members being the characters they are Insane from a design standpoint, since a developer would normally chicken out of putting those types of 'bad' traits in non-antagonists.
Neither sound like upset, anon, you sure you haven't been spending too much time arguing with retards? That affects reading comprehension, you know.

So you mean games that focus on finding and breeding monsters? Don't think there's a game with only that, the closest match I can think of is Jade Cocoon where you can fuse any 2 monsters you catch. Exactly what I meant. I've heard of Jade Cocoon before and it sounded interesting; I hope the battles aren't too bad. It also wasn't clear that I was referring to the Creature's series, which is more like a highly sophisticated desktop pet than a videogame. The closest game to what I mean probably Niche which provides a light strategy game where you have to breed your units. It's dangerously furry, but a comfy break game. What I really want is an autobattler where you breed the monsters and train them, then they fight without your input. I had a lot of fun with MindRover, and want something similar but biologically inspired.

>>84709
Some people say start with middle Wizardry 6-7 others say like >>84710 start with Wizardry 1. I don't think any of them have aged poorly outside of graphics, so release order is the simplest. If you're a graphicsfag there's a SNES remake of Wizardry I-III.
>>84709
The console remakes are unironically great.
If you want a pure unadulterated experience of the first 4 games then get Wizardry Ultimate Archives. It has reworked DOS versions of the games that fix them to be closer to the Apple II releases and also make the floppy swapping easily doable in DOSBOX.
For the remakes of 1, 2 and 3 you can play the SNES versions for beautiful spritework, ingame maps and reworked level design to compensate for the fact that you can't transfer characters from the first scenario like you are supposed to do on PC for Wizardry 2 and 3.
Wizardry 4 has a remake on PS1 with shit tons of additional features but its only in Japanese.
Beyond the first 4 games you can just play the original releases. The Ultimate Archives also contain Wizardry 5,6 and 7 though these versions are made to run on windows 95. 6,7 and 8 are on GOG too so you could pirate those.
>>84717
Have you played monster rancher and dragon quest monsters?

The only advice I have for you is that you really, really shouldn't play Wizardry 4 first.
>>84708

God damn anon. I forgot about Niche, so I gave it another shot. The pacing was a little too slow, but HOLY FUCK I could not contain my boner. I had at minimum a semichub the entire time I was playing. I could not help but think about those sexy critters fucking eachother. I bred them for aesthetics. Once I had a litter that looked good I made them fuck eachother until the pack almost ran out of food, and then I culled all the retardedly inbred ones. I think they unintentionally created the perfect furry incest h-game. The only way I could think think of improving it is by adding more sexual dimorphism to the traits and models. The unfortunate side-effect of breeding attractive, feminine-featured females is a generation of femboy foxes.

Calling Caim a villain is not accurate, at least as far as Drakengard 1 is concerned as I haven't played the 2nd. Yeah he kills children and generally doesn't shy away from solving every problem in life with murder. But in the case of those kids they are also demon possessed and he just doesn't care about trying to save them. It's no different than Guts in Berserk also murdering ,in his case, demonically transformed children trying to kill him. It's kill or be killed in their world and Caim is just ahead of the curve and unlike Guts doesn't feel remorse.

I'm looking for any fairly recent 2d platformers with any form of difficulty and fucking FUN to them and a control scheme/moveset that makes me want to actually get good at the game. I finished Mega Man 11, Zero 1 and Hollow Knight recently and had a ton of fun. Then I went on to games like Dire Vengeance, Flynn Son of Crimson and Blue Fire and I could not be more bored out of my mind with how miserably boring they are to play. Dire Vengeance has a great aesthetic for it but it's so ridiculously easy I can't get into it. Flynn Son of Crimson I'm convinced is designed for 12 year olds because neither the platforming nor the combat comes even close to challenging the player. Blue Fire's just miserably boring to actually control when I compare it to Hollow Knight and I can't get into it at all.

It genuinely pisses me off seeing what Witch Beam's newest game was this year. What the fuck were they thinking?
AAC's such a fun game though. At some point I want to truly 100% it but it's really tiring purple S+ ranking the entire game because it implies finishing it 9 times, and then there's apparently the Campaign+ mode which is too much for me to go through in one playthrough.
Also you've reminded me I've never actually played N++, only the flash games so I figure why not give that a shot today.

After playing through Wolcen: Lords of Mayhem 3 times in a row, I can safely say it's not a good game. If anything, it's a spiritual sequel to Diablo 3, but with broken skills and passives. The only kind of damage that works is Critical, the only kind of build worth making is Ranged. The only melee builds worth playing WILL have Bleeding Edge skill in it, because it's the only melee skill worth a damn.
Don't bother.
Instead wait for Last Epoch to be finished. My only gripe with it is the fact that combat feels unimpactful early on.

I've played through Arkham Origins and I'm close to finishing up the Cold Cold Hearts DLC. My memory might be hazy, but I don't recall the previous two Arkham games being as glitchy as Origins. A number of times Batman would get caught on a railing or something while grappling up a building, get stuck in an animation loop and then teleport to the original destination. A lot of times he wouldn't perform a standard takedown despite standing next to the target. And during fast travel cutscenes sound cut out twice. It's alright, snowy Gotham is comfy to walk through, until you get surrounded by those god damned criminals and their blasted medical insurance.

Origins I believe was done on a smaller dev cycle by a smaller dev team(WB Montreal and not Rocksteady) so that could explain it. I do remember the game feeling a lot more unstable than the other two, even Knight which ran quite poorly thanks to Denuvo.
My boner still remembers Copperhead. Something about that tight leather and body contortion gets me going even if she doesn't get any fanart.
