Also, the webm thread is being flooded with garbage and I don't feel like posting there.

I'll post a few more of these. I enjoy a lot of Copy Kitty's bosses, and the differences between the normal and hard mode versions are neat.

The developers are furfags who put some of the usual poz in their upcoming game, so don't give them any money: https://mega.nz/file/xD4RxYAA#lJttgRtQ1XQ7Md9UniewBwP5WF8L2ZWwnnGg8FwiYoo
It's a shame. The new game's art style is obviously a huge improvement from Copy Kitty and I like the saccharine cutesy look, but I guess I'll just be pirating that one when it released.

Ranger can request tanks and bikes, Air Raider can get shit like huge mechs, Wing Diver can always fly, and Fencer (the "slow big metal suit" class) is the fastest class of them all if played properly, flying all over the map at sanic speeds.

>Do you play as a terminator killing resistance fighters in the future?
'Main game' you play as the Resistance and it plays like Metro but less shit as it actually has an inventory system and RPG elements.
'Infiltrator mode' is a separate mode where you play as a T800 and have to get to find your main objective by collecting info from secondary objectives and destroying Scavenger and Rebel hideouts in a pretty open ended map, also features the inventory and progression system but more scaled down since the whole thing takes around 1-2 hours to finish depending on the difficulty, but also exclusive weapons not present in the main game.
Objectives and hideouts also have some RNG, so you'll see stuff in different locations each time you play, there's also no saving since the whole thing is pretty short.

It's the only game where you can have the power fantasy of being a T800 and massacring innocent humans.
Whole game is neat despite some jank and dated visuals/animations.
He also forgot to mention that some mech variants can literally leapfrog across the rooftops of buildings due to a jetpack.

That brought back some primal school computer lab memories. Were you actually playing this yourself?

I've seen these webms posted occasionally for years but never known what game it's from. Guild Wars or something?
Replies: >>163720 >>163721
Guild Wars 2: Tranny Edition.

Yes, this is all original footage I captured from playing the games myself.

If you see these webms posted, it's probably from me, I don't see much reason why people would save and repost them anyways. All three of the last posts are from Guild Wars 2 except for "proof of grind", which was from Guild Wars. Specifically, the Mad King Raceway video was me completing a time trial with a rental mount without having paid for the expansion that unlocks it or the ability to upgrade and improve it, which would make a sub 1-min time trivial. The cliff skip is something I discovered myself in trying to find the fastest way to finish the course. I shared the video and talked about it on the official forums back in the day, got shouted down and ridiculed by the community, thread closed, forum banned for several days, and the poles I jumped on lost their collision a few patches later. The other Sanctum Sprint videos and runs came after that, when I tried to aim for the fastest time while hitting all checkpoints, but I've not tried to share them with the GW2 community since both they and the devs just seem interested in ruining my fun with it.
Replies: >>163847 >>163877
[Hide] (94.8KB, 300x300) Reverse
To continue, runs like any of those aren't even possible anymore because they completely messed up how the physics of those skills work. You would think that, to preserve how the skills function, they would be their own separate things in their own separate mode. But, when they decided to release a later expansion that featured those skills as a mechanic, they reworked them in various ways that also changed how they operated in Sanctum Sprint. Many of the larger skips aren't feasible anymore just because the skills don't work like they used to - they either don't allow you to gain height or cause you to lose speed if you use them in the "wrong way". Probably something they decided to rework to fit with whatever new map they were building them for, but it effectively killed any chance at getting a sub 2-min time anymore.

Placing any hope in GW2 back in the day was a big mistake, and although I basically freed myself from committing to it after only a few months past release, it would have been much better to have not involved myself in the first place and put my energy elsewhere.

They've gone through several forum and URL switches over the years. I don't know if I archived the thread or not, but I'll look for it later.

The beta was a lot of fun back when I played it with a bunch of people from 4/vg/. That didn't really stick past release, and a lot of the antics we got up to weren't possible later on. Notable was all the climbing we did on the Polymock Arena cubes and how we got there - Polymock was never made, and access to that map area was never made possible past the beta, to my knowledge.

That's rough. I can see why the devs would want to patch an exploit that skips most of the actual course but banning and locking the thread serves no purpose. MMO players are essentially free testers in addition to whatever else they do with their games, so biting their hands is absolutely insane.

>they completely messed up how the physics of those skills work
Having actual physics and platforming in an MMO is such a selling point compared to the usual spate of WoW/FFXIV clones that you'd think they make the effort to duplicate the spells/database and allow people to race more with it.
I've heard nothing but disappointment about that game, ranging from bad gameplay decisions to the inevitable tranny poz, which is very surprising to an outsider since it seemed like the foundation was actually going to move away from the tab-targeting tank/healer/DPS trinity that made so many of them into numbers-based slogs. I remember there was an anon who wrote a very long series of posts about the state and fate of the game a few years ago, which I saved because they were interesting reading.

I looked as much as I could for the deleted thread, but it doesn't look like I archived it. I found a related thread on the way-back machine and a .pdf print of another thread referencing the patch, but that's it.

The kicker of the exploit is that the mode has a checkpoint system, and if you cross the finish line without having crossed all the checkpoints, the game believes you're in a sort of "practice mode", voids your ability to claim a reward at the end, and doesn't give you any end-of-round reward or achievement credit. The only way to "profit" from the skips would be to make a route that still goes through all the checkpoints, but even then, you're waiting at the finish line for 5-6 minutes for everyone else to finish and the round to end. The rewards at the end were never great and not the point.

>it seemed like the foundation was actually going to move away from the tab-targeting tank/healer/DPS trinity that made so many of them into numbers-based slogs

They made an attempt, but it basically turned every profession into a matter of bringing just enough healing to not die or grouping up to spread the pain, then maxing out damage to blow shit up as fast as possible. If your profession wasn't overtuned or had a clunky mechanic to manage like Ranger, Necro, or Engineer pets, you were fine for solo content but totally shafted in groups. When they released later expansion and raid content, people naturally fell back into the tank/healer/DPS routine to clear it, because it was the only way to do it efficiently. I never interacted with that stuff personally, but there are videos out there of other people covering it.

>while you can barely move on the ground?
Yes and no, it depends on how you setup the class.
Can now run on 5 rather than just rolling away on the prequels, which also increases item pickup range as a nice bonus. Can equip either walk/run enhancements or vehicle requests for support, including really fast bikes that you can also call underground. Helicopters too, but those are a bitch to control. Alternatively, you can get the biggest pickup radius upgrade you can find and become a vacuum cleaner of items.
>Wing Diver
Jetpack waifu - the class. Can fly and dash around at the expense of a regenerating energy pool she has that is also shared with her energy weapons. Abusing her energy too much will force you to cooldown, which can be a big problem if you're getting zergrushed. Can equip cores that affect her flight/combat performance, and has even a type of core that greatly increases her energy output on weapons at the expense of making her ass too fat to fly.
>Air Raider
On his own he's just as slow as old Ranger, but he can request vehicles, including very fast grapes and more importantly mechas of which the red ones (and especially one of the dlc ones) are the swiftest. Can call spider-like vehicles called depth-crawlers underground that lets you walk all over the place, but the aiming is wonky when staying anywhere but on the ground. He only really depends on those when he can't just bomb everything to smithereens anyways.
Starting fencer is slow as molasses, with a single jump+boost from his weapons at best, but later on he can equip jump/dash boost enhancements that makes him absurdly fast, almost as if you were playing a babby version of Armored Core. A great improvement over 4, although the Javelin dash abuse was pretty funny. Alternatively, he has big shields that can make him (almost) fucking invincible with the right support gear.
That said, with two pairs of weapons at your disposal, you can have both great mobility AND defense, though you'll have to compromise on either of them to take full advantage of the other.

[Hide] (3.6MB, 2560x1440) Reverse
No, the sieges are pretty good. Each side readies the camp/defense based on engineering skill. defenders build ballistas and catapults. Attacker builds battering rams, siege towers, and offensive units like catapults. each side builds at different speeds or the attacker can just charge after a minimum construction time and only have ladders.
Once the siege starts friendly catapults and enemy catapults/balistas will start firing at each others defenses. defense usually tries to break siege tower and battering ram with catapults. the attacker will usually try to sync up siege devices so tower/ladders begin once the battering ram breaks the outer doors. enemy throws rocks on you as you try to get through the inner door.

the AI can get janky if you mess with them. its best to just let them be or tell them to follow the orders of their sergeants.

Unless you want to actually edit video creating a webbum at a decent filesize involves using the bitrate formula from the old WebM guide but with AV1 instead of VP9 because the former delivers 30-40% better quality at the same bitrate.
AV1 also encodes at an increasingly competitive speed these days, the meme about it taking decades for a 1 minute long video hasn't been true since version 1.3 at the earliest and the current 3.X releases are inching close to viable realtime encoding on the lowest quality settings Intel's SVT-AV1 is supposedly already fast enough for that but my CPU lacks AVX2 so I can't confirm it.

Rember to pipe raw YUV frames directly to aomenc with ffmpeg's yuv4mpegpipe instead of creating 400GB raw video files.
[Hide] (19.4MB, 1280x720, 01:13)
[Hide] (10.2MB, 1280x720, 00:53)
I know a few really easy ways if you have windows.
Look up how to install python/PIP https://github.com/pypa/pip
once you have that, open up command prompt and type pip get webm. once you have webm, put the movie file you want to shorten in c:\users\username.
then open up cmd and type in >webm -i "input.mkv" -l 16 "output.webm"
The number 16 can be changed to any number and will determine the output file size.

It is compatible with lists similar to ffmpeg if you know how to do that and can basically convert entire folders of large videos into shortened versions.

There are other methods like using lossless cut to crop short videos, then convert them to something smaller using something like one of handbrakes preloaded settings.

Shotcut is also good for editing and has a number of output options. i generally just use the default settings and chagne the framerate to 60 to match my input videos.

But once you get it set up, webm is by far the easiest and has the best outcome to effort ratio. I'll post some examples.

I started again, how do you actually train up troops aside from fighting. I'm sick of having recruits shitting up my list unless I dunk on some looters.
IIRC Warband has a 'trainer' skill that adds experience to your party at the end of each day; not much, but it's actually useful to turn peasants into competent fighters. Not sure if it was kept in butterlord.
Replies: >>177728 >>177829
Almost every skill tree has a training skill. There is one in particular that instantly gives enough experience to peasants to level up once, I think it's on leadership.

>how do you actually train up troops aside from fighting
You can't in BL
You can only get real troops (unless you join a kingdom and farm relation with lords in which case you can get like 1/month?) by converting (steppe) bandits with the outlaw skill anyway. Non-noble troops are on worthless trees.
Trainer is experience to your party (below the trainer's level) for every soldier for every trainer. It's absolutely a shitton of experience, since troop experience from battles is next to nothing and troop experience from killing things requires them to be strong enough to kill things. Killing mega doomstacks in mods is still only like 4.5k party xp; trainer 10 is 80 (110?)x100 for a 100 man party. Swadian men at arms etc. are infinitely better at getting kills to upgrade to knights than peasants.

Heres a video i took from a recent siege to show alittle more what they're like now. Though sometimes the AI does get retarded, but not nearly as bad as warband was.

There are perks of traveling in your group, or garrisoned troops. You can have castles auto recruit troops and put a governor in charge of the castle (and upgrade the castle with high level training grounds) and troops recruited or put there will upgrade automatically. You can stick a bunch of recruits in a castle garrison and come back after a war campaign and come back to a bunch of max level troops. You can also talk to the arena master about training companions.
Upgrading regular units into cavalry requires you have horses to give them, when they upgrade to higher ranked (like heavy armor) cavalry, you need to give them higher quality horses.
There are perks that allow you to discard armor/weapons and convert them to XP to your army.

Yes those skills still exist so troops you travel with upgrade, as well as XP for troops you recruit that gets applied immediately. It depends on who you appoint as quartermaster in your group which can be companions or yourself. (in warband it took the skill of whoever was best) now you choose a person and that person will gain XP in that field as it's used. So if you appoint a companion as the doctor, he will gain XP in medicine. this applies to scout, engineer, quartermaster, and surgeon.

They added a bunch of training features but removed the "training ground" thing where you fight your troops to upgrade them. Though there is a mod for that. if you fight in tournaments companions will often partake and they do get XP from those fights. especially if they win (and forfeit the prize to you)

There is also a perk that makes it so you can donate/discard armor and/or weapons from won battles and convert it to XP which can level them up like crazy.

What would be a good program to use for recording gameplay? Is OBS alright?
I use punched tape, but I hear a Dictaphone works just as well.
I dont recommend using obs since it makes your computer slower? Its strange. It definetly affects your gameplay making you get lower fps. There is nvidia shadowplay. You're going to get massive file sizes though. So get ready to compress. To compress get webm.py
Honestly i dont know. Shit just sucks.
I´m using OBS and it suits my needs for recording plus its free
I´ve read that Nvidias Shadowplay is also a decent choice but you need to register an Nvidia account to be able to use it
OBS is good but it strains your CPU, so depending on the game it may meaningfully impact performance. You can record through your graphics card using Nvidia Shadowplay (good, doesn't affect performance) or AMD ReLive (trash, buggy, crashes), which will result in very large filesizes. Compressing them afterwards with a simple ffmpeg script is easy enough.

I have a small YouTube channel where I upload gameplay videos and other stuff, and OBS has always been good enough for me. The only real problems are playing old CPU-heavy games like anything in the Source engine, but once I finally get around to installing my CPU it should improve.
Replies: >>181065
OBS works fine on my Linux box, but I don't play demanding games. Nyidia ShadowPlay works great on my Wangblows machine and only stutters when saving a recording to the disk, but it does require an account. AMD also has screen recording software but I don't know how well it works.

OBS is alright especially if you have a GPU / IGP capable of decent encoding, early ones (Pre skylake, pre Polaris and pre Pascal) will have potato quality and CPU encoding becomes worth considering if you have a good CPU, if you have the latest gens GPU (ampere, RDNA2, Arc / iris etc) CPU encoding becomes worthless

I noticed that the first time I played it. Did you know the same people behind slave zero made bubsy 3D?

Those are some nice tiddies

That was just the publisher, Accolade, they published tons of shovelware, that was the norm back then.
Same company and a big chunk of devs that made Bubsy 3D made Syphon Philter, and later on Days Gone.

Yeah, it's the new yomawari.
>Is it any good.
No, the game kind of sucks. For every one good thing the game does, it does two really dumb things.
There are a ton of flashbacks in the game for some reason. Yomawari's travel mechanics already make the game's pacing slow to begin with so adding a ton of flashbacks where you just walk from point A to point B for a little story dump is so painful. The appeal of the game is clearly the spirits and ghosts, so you'd expect the third installment to add a lot of new enemies. The truth seems to be that the developers were lazy and didn't want to do that. I'm already halfway through the game and I have barely seen any new enemies that patrol around the town. Most of what I have seen are just reused enemies from the first and second game. Town exploration is also neutered and requires you to progress through the main story to explore more. There are barriers around town that you aren't allowed to pass. The game's antagonist will hunt you down and kill you if you attempt to explore past the barrier. Also, the mp4 shows a certain segment in the main storyline that requires absolutely perfect timing to get through. This one segment took hours of my life away. Maybe they'll fix the timing of this soon.

The game does have some good things though. They removed the concept of hiding in the game so that the ghosts don't end up camping your hiding spot. You instead close your eyes and walk past them. You can also dress up your character to look cute if you are into that. There are a lot more collectibles to find too. You are lucky that the second yomawari game was your first because it is by far the best one out of the three.

I mean if it's 2: part 2 and you say 2 is the best then it should be good right?

Is there any way to make this shit 30MB without shortening the video or lowering the resolution to the point that it becomes a pixelated mess?
How long is the video file?
Replies: >>185048
11 minutes.
Perhaps it's way too long to try and compress down to 30MB?
I could try cutting the video in multiple parts, but I don't know if it's worth the effort. I mean it's just generic barely edited gameplay (I simply cut the parts where nothing happens), it's nothing out of the ordinary.

>11 Minutes
I don't think this will fit into 30MB at any setting that doesn't either cut bitrate, fps or resolution down to such a degree as to make it unwatchable. Finding a peertube instance or sharing it some other way is probably going to be the best way to share the gameplay.

Try 480/360 at 24/30 fps, that would be a realistic goal with 2 pass vp9, or try av1 if your hardware can handle it.

I gave it a good try to get it as close as possible to the max and I got this as a result: >>185118 With some tuning you might get it to look a bit better and have it be passable. For anything longer I am personally considering clipping out a good part, making a webm out of that and then offering a torrent for anyone interested in the full length video.
These are impressive on a technical level but if I am really going to watch someone play vidya I would much rather prefer it in full resolution and non-bitcrushed.

I bit the bullet and decided to just cut the video into ~1 minute long segments. Let's see how this simple drone footage for testan.

If you have some time and patience, you can use tools such as webm.py (or others, see >>>/v/181001) to make smaller videos without much (or any) ffmpeg knowledge.
First video is yours but limited to 4 MBs and with 30 FPS. You could get a smaller one, but I think there's a good enough balance between size and quality without deteriorating it the latter too much.

Gave it another shot with reduced resolution and crf set
