Miyo kills Rika in each reality to unleash the disease and vindicate the work of her adoptive grandfather, who was mocked and shamed by the scientific community for his thesis about the disease. After several hundred loops, Keiichi becomes aware of them in a handful of flashbacks and subconsciously remembers several of his past loops, which allows him to avoid several critical points where various characters would be murdered or driven insane, and the group of friends nearly outwits Miyo. In the final loop, the group asks Hanyū to join them, and the spirit manages to manifest a physical body. With her assistance, they stay alive long enough to prevent Miyo's plan. Hanyū travels back to the past to save Miyo and her father, and to prevent their psychotic drive from forming.

Onigafuchi Village

The name of the village was changed from "Onigafuchi" to "Hinamizawa" in Meiji era. The Onigafuchi Swamp (鬼ヶ淵沼・onigafuchi numa) retains the name which translates to "abyss of demons." Oyashiro-sama's curse

Oyashiro-sama's curse (オヤシロさまの祟り, Oyashiro-sama no Tatari) or the Shrine God's Curse is an old superstition believed in by some of the villagers. The belief is that anyone who angers the local god Oyashiro-sama will be cursed. What is exactly intended by the curse is unknown, but it usually seems that the cursed either die or disappear. One way to be cursed appears to be to leave the village with no intent to return.

It is later revealed that there was never actually a curse; it was invented long ago to discourage people from leaving the village and triggering the symptoms of Hinamizawa syndrome.

Listen, it appears we have gotten off on the wrong foot here. I am not a cuck, nor have I been to 8moe. It sounds like a shit place full of shit people the way you describe it. I think Saya no Uta is one of the greatest VN's I've ever read. I think the love story parts of it are interesting, especially considering the perspectives of each character. I even enjoyed the rape scene, in the way one would enjoy a tragedy in a revenge movie. I was invested in the characters. It was terrible. It hurt. I had to see what would happen next. I needed something to make it right. What I got was the main character becoming an even bigger piece of shit and Saya encouraging it. But by the end I think they redeemed themselves. Saya, at least, as much as she is able too, given her nature. Even the protag, somewhat, though it could be argued most of his actions were driven by madness and desperation instead of love, which was, I think, the weakest part of the story. Still, a very enjoyable story which I would recommend to anyone that doesn't mind something which is not meant to be comfy.

It's clear you're a passionate guy. I respect that. Look, Saya was my first VN, I've only read a few more since, and so far this thread has few recommendations. It seems like you've read a lot of VN's. What's your favorite? Which had the most feels?
